Ink Lifting Technique

I am not really sure how I stumbled on this technique but I did.  I was so impressed that knew I wanted to give it a try.  Here is the link to Jennifer McGuire’s blog and the technique.  She uses distressed ink but I though I would give it a try with Close to My Heart inks.

When I first started playing around with the technique I tried our White Daisy cardstock and it did not lift the color out as well.  So I then tried it with our Watercolor paper and BINGO it worked.  So here is how it works.Ink Lifting initial stepsI used Crystal Blue for my background.

Ink Lifting Part 2Once you have the ink applied you use water to lift out the ink.  I just dabbed a water soaked brush to the inside of the flowers.  And as you can see the blue lifts out and becomes a faded blue.  Then I took my ink pad and stamped my all purpose mat.  I then added water to the ink and painted the new colors in.  I used Pixie, Thistle, Honey, Fern and Sweat leaf inks to add color.

Wavey Blooms ~ Ink Lifting ~ Do What Makes You Happy Card 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the finished product.  I am really happy how this turned out and look forward to trying it some more.  I actually tried using craft foam to instead of foam tape to pop up the white scalloped boarders.

Fall Inspirations ~ Sangria Card Workshop

It is finally beginning to feel like fall here in Colorado.  I sure hope it stays as I love this time of year with the cooler temps.  Enough about the weather… I have been feeling fall inspirations with the Sangria paper Pack.  I have to admit I was not sure about this paper pack but having played with it I am really liking it.  The colors are fabulous as they use several of the new rich Enchantment colors ~ Poppy, Pomegranate, and Eggplant.  I used this paper pack and colors to design my October Card Workshop October 26th at 6:30 PM.  If you are in the Arvada, CO area and would like to come please email me at for more details and check availability.

The bottom color of the flower is cut at 2″ and the rosette is actually two 1 1/2″ circles that are scored, accordion folded, and then attached together.  The flower stem is from Art Philosophy and cut at 2.4″ high.  The grass border is from Artbooking and is cut at 4″ wide.  Here are some other varieties:

I know this time of year everyone gets so excited when warmer weather rolls around.  Particularly in some areas where this winter has been a rough one.   We have been having some really beautiful weather particularly on our weekends.  I have fallen in love (head over heals) with the new Blossom Paper Pack which is featured in the Seasonal Expressions 2 which was just released.  I have already created 5 layouts using this AWESOME paper pack (which you can find here & here).  I decided to create yet another, this time for my Shadow Box which I use to showcase the seasons.  I needed one for spring.  I knew with this past weekend being Easter I knew we would have an opportunity to take a family photo which I would feature in this layout.

Spring ~ Shadow Box ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ I have really been loving the Wavy Blooms stamp set and so it was perfect for this layout.  I used a blender pen to crate the soft colors on the flowers.

Spring ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Cricut to make several of the cuts for this layout.  The circle is a design from my cricut subscription.  The large Pear banner and the “Spring” are from the Artiste cartridge.

Here is a list of supplies used for this project.
