I knew I wanted to highlight these awesome borders. When I looked at this stamp set I saw two groupings jump out to me. I have been totally loving rainbow colors so that inspired one of my cards.

Here there are individually.

I went with most of the rainbow colors using the light side of Candy Apple, Nectarine, Canary, Green Apple, Bluebird, and Grape cardstock. I stamped tone on tone using the Outdoor Borders stamp set. Then using the Months of the Year – June for the sentiment and envelope. I also used the Stitched Bracket Thin Cuts. I added a couple of red dots from my stash.

For this card I used Avocado, Toffee, and Peacock cardstock and inks. I used the Stitched Fancy Bracket Thin Cuts for the sentiment. The sentiment and accents are from the Take a Hike stamp and thin cuts, I colored the backpack and water bottle details with my markers. The last detail was the Gold Glitter Gems.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of JUNE. If you are a member of the Close To My Heart VIP program and you place a qualifying order of $50 in the US, you will get the stamp for FREE!! Otherwise if you spend $50 in US you can purchase for $5.

I saw the fantastic SPRING that Ginni Candelaria designed and knew I wanted to do something like this.  I realized I did not really have much in the way of SUMMER decor so when I saw the Into the Wild paper pack inspiration took hold.

All of the Cricut cuts are from YOU ARE HERE and the FLOWER MARKET cartridges.  Here is a closer look at each letter.  The letters are our Chipboard Letters, we also have numbers too!

So living here in Colorado, our summers are spent enjoying all that the great outdoors have to offer. One of our family favorites is to Mountain Bike. So of course the letter “S” is a tribute to this.  I did use the Into the Wild Complements on a number of the letters.  I tore a bit of Kraft to make it look like a trail and also used some of the Silver Foil Paper on the bike.close to my heart ~ CatScrapbooking ~ Into the Wild ~ Summer ~ home decor

The “U” is playful to me with the trees and cute wood grain critters from the Into the Wild Complements.

I thought for this “M” I would feature one of the water sports you can do here.

Of course hiking is a big draw here in Colorado and one of my favorite ways to get out an explore the outdoors.

For the “R” I am featuring camping under the stars.  Whether you are a traditional tent camper or go for the RV this will get you covered.  I added a few of the stars from the Loose Silver sequins to add a bit of shine, in the photo they look blue.

I love the Seaside paper pack and we have been lucky to go on a beach vacation the past three years.  The last two were to visit family.   I grew up going to the beach so I wanted our son to have that experience too.  We went to Watercolor FL in 2013 to stay at my brothers house.  So I knew this paper pack would be perfect for the beach photos from this trip.  Mind you or trip was not quite the beach trip we hoped as it poured everyday with flash floods.  So we took what little beach time we could.

SummerVacation Layout ~ Seaside ~ Treasured Friendship ~ catscrapbooking.comI used the stamp set Treasured Friendship to create the accent points using the shells.  I stamped them and then added some color using our watercolor pencils.  I then inked the edges using Champagne and Desert Sand.

SummerVacation Layout detail ~ Seaside ~ Treasured Friendship ~ catscrapbooking.comI cut the tittle using my Cricut Explore ~ I have to admit the one thing I do not like is trying to remember what font was used after I have selected it and un-grouped then welded.  I cannot for the life of me remember which one I choose (sorry).  I did cut it twice using two different patten papers.

Now it is time to hop on over to very talented MELINDA EVERITT’s Blog and see what wonderful creation she has for you.  Here is the full list of participants:

Color Dare #149 ~ Ruby, Outdoor Denim, Colonial White & Kraft

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #149 we are featuring RUBY, OUTDOOR DENIM, COLONIAL WHITE and KRAFT.

11401444_10153070823819440_2587294451351161646_nSince these colors have a patriotic feel I thought I would design a layout for my shadow box to celebrate the 4th of July.  I have been needing to update it so this worked out perfectly.

Color Dare #149 ~ 4th of July ~ patriotic layout ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this project I used my Cricut Explore to cut all the shapes.  I used Ruby & Outdoor Denim cardstock and Fundamental paper with the Colonial White cardstock.  My base is the Kraft.  For my cuts the star is just one of the basic shapes found in Design Space.  The overlay, rocket and frame are all from Artbooking cartridge.  I used scraps of paper to back these cuts which made them more colorful.  I did have to cut away one of the stars from the photo frame as it was covering too much of the photo.  The fireworks bursts are part of my Cricut subscription #M32A4A and so is the 4th of July is also from my subscription #M43700.  I used some of the sequins I had to five it a little shimmer.  I am so happy the way this turned out and the way I designed the photo frame is next year I can change out the photo with one from this year.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #149.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday July 9, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Beach Theme Cards

I am finally beginning to settle back into a routine after a week long vacation.  This was the first vacation my husband I have taken which was longer than 3 nights or not going to visit family since our honeymoon 15 years ago.  Needless to say this was long overdue!!!  We went to Antigua WI and spent our days on the beach and by the pool ~ it was heaven.  While we were there we meet a fun couple from North Carolina.  We ended up having dinner and drinks a couple nights.  So I wanted to make sure we stayed in touch so I though I would design a card for them.

I have been wanting to play around with the Treasured Friendship C1594 stamp set and now I had the perfect occasion to do so.  I got to thinking that I could create the sand look by doing the background using the Boken technique and then stamp the shells on top.  I LOVE the way this turned out.

Treasured Friendship ~ Boken ~ seashells ~ catscrapbooking.comI used Champagne, Cashmere, Saddle and Whisper inks on a piece of Colonial White cardstock.  I applied the inks in a random pattern using a sponge.  I then used Colonial White ink to create the Boken technique. I then came back and stamped the shells using pigment inks ~ Chocolate, Sorbet and Saddle.  I matted the Colonial White cardstock on Sorbet cardstock before adhering to card base.  I added a few of the sequins from the Ocean collection.  I did use another shell and the sentiment “friends are like shellshells, you pick them up along the way” on the inside. To create the extra stippling at the bottom of the card I used a splatter stamp stamp set from my stash.  This card definitely feel beach like to me.
