Studio Savings

Have you tried Studio J™?  I know many people get scared away when they hear about digital scrapbooking.  Well I am hear to tell you it is easy peasy!!! You should give it a try and now is the perfect time to try it with March’s great promotion.  During the month of March, your Studio J™ layouts—including ones using our new Photo Express Collection—for only $5 each!

*Offer valid March 1–31, 2014. Studio J layouts ship in a protected box that can hold from 4 to 50 two-page layouts.

The first time I sat down and tried it I was able to complete three double page layouts in a mater of about an hour.  If I was to do that using traditional scrapbooking it would have taken me about 8 hour.

I now use Studio J to print my photos for all my layouts.  Stay tuned to my blog as tomorrow I will be posting about the new express collection an how to use it to easily print your photos.  Using Studio J to print the photos for my layouts has cut out the issue I have with using photo processing places like Shutterfly, Snapfish and Costco; you are limited with the size it is either a 4 x6 or larger.  I find that sometimes I want to use some smaller photos like 3×3, 3×4 and other various sizes and Studio J™ allows me to do this.

Go online and try it today as you have nothing to loose and only savings to gain.

Studio J Holiday Cards

I have been busy working on holiday cards.  I have made a lot, but decided I would try using Studio J to create some as well.  I had seen some designed by Brae Montgomery and you can check them out her on her BLOG .

I decided to give it a try…. It was actually fairly easy and fun.  I really like using Studio J and now I have another reason to love it.

Here are the cards I designed using the Sparkle & Shine paper pack:

I then decided to try some using the Jingle paper, here is how those turned out:

Too Cute to Spook

Are you in the Halloween spirit yet?  As I have mentioned before I love this time of year and our house in in full Halloween spirit.  Yes I am one of those people who you probably think is a bit crazy… Well you may be correct, but it is just so fun and there is so much cool festive things out there to tempt me when I go out shopping.

Well I am going to share with you another Halloween layout I designed.  I decided to try something a little different.  Normally when I scrapbook I have my photos in hand.  Lately I have been running into road blocks when I am trying to put my layout together.  The most common issue is when I have found a cool layout for inspiration but I can’t make my 4×6 photos work.  I love using the CTMH How to Patterns, sketches online, and magazines for inspiration.   Generally the way I go about scrapbooking is I select the photos I wish to scrapbook and star them in Photoshop (I use this to edit and organize my photos).  I will then edit them fixing red eyes, cropping, lightening or adjusting color if needed.  I will then have them printed mostly in 4×6 but occasionally 5×7 and 8×10.

I had an idea in mind for a layout and found a sketch from PageMaps which would work well.  The layout incorporated some odd sized photos (5.5×4, 2.75×4 etc).  I have never been opposed to using photos in other sizes but it is hard to get them out of a 4×6 photo.  So this time I thought I would use Studio J using the No Limits layout to size my photographs.  I uploaded the edited photos into Studio J.   I confirmed my photos would work in the dimensions that were shown in the layout.  I cut some scrap white paper to act as place holders for my photos so I could get busy designing my layout.

This process worked really well – see for your self:

I used Laughing Lola paper pack and had one sheet of  Bazzill cardstock which I used in conjunction with the Laughing Lola purple, Lagoon, Laughing Lola gold, Gypsy, white and black cardstock.  All the creatures were cut using my Silhouette.  I then used Washi tape and the Washi Wonder stamp set as accents. I was able to get the journaling done and now all I need to do is drop the photos in when they arrive.

Stay tuned for a couple more layouts done this way. Until then happy crafting!

Studio J – Digital Delights

Close to my Heart has extended the special for the $5 layouts in Studio J.  You can now take advantage of this special offer until  March15, 2013.  Feb-CC-ImageGallery.ashx

If you have not tried this I highly recommend you do.  It is so easy to complete some of your layout and it takes some much less time than if you were to scrapbook them the conventional way.  Now don’t get me wrong I still love to scrapbook from scratch with paper and will never give that up.  But if you are like me and most scrapbookers you are years behind.  I was able to finish 11 layouts in about 4 hours. If i was to have scrapbooked those same pages it would have taken my more than 24 hours. Pick a project or two and give it a try, you will be surprised at how nice they turn out and how much you can get done. I used the express collection for most of my layouts. Take a look at some of the layouts I created.
