Color Dare #450 ~ Peacock Rainbow Image

Welcome to another week with us at Color Dare!! This week we have a fun photo image for your inspiration. For Color Dare #450 you can choose the colors you see in the image to use in your design. You need to choose at least three colors, black and white are free.

I have become a bit obsessed with rainbows so I went with the majority of the colors.

I love the Honey Dipper stencil so I created a rainbow with it using oxide inks ~ Candy Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Wilted Violet. I used Honey Bee buzz word buzz and a few bees.

I went with Canary, Flamingo, Blue Belle, Mink and and Embellishments, so I choose 5 of the blocks. Plus free Black & White.

I recently purchased a few new products from Honey Bee Stamps and started playing with them. I used the Balloon Stencil with the large balloons for the base. I then went over with White pigment ink. I used Vellum and Black cardstock for the Bitty Buzz Word dies. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin cuts and then matted on black cardstock. I then added a couple white sequins.

Mother’s Day Cards

I saw Double Trouble’s Challenge and it inspired me to create these Mother’s Day Cards.

I created a stencil from Artfully Sent. I used some of my oxide inks that matched the best with the colors in Double Trouble. I added the simple sentiment and a few gems. I am also entering this card in Make the Cards Challenge #13.

I then made a couple more with some other colors.

I designed to two cards. I used a circle and a heart as my stencil to stamp in the open space. Here is the circle stencil I created.

I went in to Circut to create this stencil. I then overlaid this cut image to Daisy White Cardstock and then stamped with in the image. I used the same method for the heart too.

WIth this card I used Avocado, Peacock, Toffee, Canary, and Paprika. I cut the fox using my Cricut, it is part of my Cricut subscription. I added a few Bitty Sparkles.

For this card I used Sage, Desert Rose, Blue Belle and Pewter. I did add a couple Blue Bell Glitter Gems.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Stencil It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the challenge is Stencil It. You may come up with another idea but using a stencil to add color or texture to your artwork. You may create your own stencil or use one that you purchased. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project. Be sure to clearly indicate what product you used.

I have been having so much fun playing with the new Stencils that Close to My Heart just released. I only have Stencil pack #1 but the others are on orders.

I used Candy Apple Oxide Ink on Evergreen paper. I then decided to add Nebula Stickles Gel over the stencil to add the gold look. I used the new Stitched Scalloped Thin Cuts for the sentiment. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I added a bit more gold with the Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Embellishing Thread.

Here you can see the beautiful effect of the Nebula Stickle Gel.

This weeks theme is Teeny Tiny. This could be what every you interpret it to be. To me I think of small elements and gnomes. Please join us this week! Just remember that whatever you create be sure to include and clearly indicate that you used at least one Close to My Heart product.

I am loving the cute Gnome stamp sets that Close to My Heart has come out with. and the Spooky Gnomes is no exception. I decided to create my own stencil with and Artbooking Cricut collection to cut the Spider web. I then used Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire Oxide inks to create the background. I then spritzed with water then splattered Black Shimmer Brush all over. I colored the gnome and broom with my Triblend markers. I also used the cool new Black Ore papers for the Boo and to mat the spider web.

Buzz ~ That’s Bee Talk

I am loving bumble bees and they are so fun when it comes to card making. As I posted the other day I have been playing with some of the newly released product from Honey Bee Stamps. I designed this card using their new Buzz Honey Cuts and stamp.

Here are two card I created. I used a stencil that I made with my Cricut with a Close To My Heart image from Artbooking. I sponged on Canary ink over part of the overlay. I then used the Rectangle Thin Cuts to cut the stitched edge. For the Buzz I layered Black Glitter Cardstock, Canary and Daisy White cardstock. I used the Buzz Honey cut and stamp set for the sentiment. The thanks if from a past SOTM called Card Captions. I also added a couple of Bees from the Bee Hive stamp set and Honey Cuts.

Flowery Birthday Cards

Since we have been home more and looking on at social media a bit more. I discovered Honey Bee Stamps was releasing new product in honor of their 5th year anniversary. I fell in love with a couple of products and had to have. So they arrived on Friday and I started to play!

How cool is that flower background? I love this two layer stencil they have. I sponged on the flower petals and then over lay with the center stencil. I used Nuvo Glimmer paste for the centers. I pair it with the Happy Birthday Honey Cuts and Stamp. I used Close to My Heart thin cut flowers which have been retired and the Rectangle Thin Cuts. I used Thistle, Canary and the blue is Faded Jeans Distressed Oxide ink.

Here is a close up to show you that glitter paste and I paired it with Black Glitter paper. I added one of the bees for the Bee Hive stamp set.

Technique Blog Hop ~ Heat it Up

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Heat. I think about Heat embossing. This technique is a great way to add texture and can help when using markers or watercolors to keep the colors from bleeding over. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

I decided to play with Fairy Tale Magic Stamp set. I started with Daisy White cardstock that I used the large Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts to make the stitched base. I used a stencil that I had created this past fall for a halloween card you can see the stencil HERE, it is basically a circle and a rectangle negative. I started by using White Pigment Ink and then Heat Embossed with White Embossing Powder on the sparkles and sentiments. I then held the circle stencil in place and sponged Pixie & Thistle ink. I then used the rectangle negative and sponged Canary Ink. I then stamped the fairy with Black Pigment Ink on velum and then used Clear Embossing powder.

To color the fairy I used Triblend Markers for the hair and skin, by coloring the back of the fair. I then used the shimmer brushes to color the rest. I used Julep, Peach and Clear. I also splattered the Clear Shimmer brush on the base. I am not sure if you can really appreciate it in this photo.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto DARLYS RECKER’s BLOG where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!
