Frosty the Lighted Snowman

I know it is not Thanksgiving yet, but I am getting excited for the holidays.  I have been able to create a few things so far this year.  I hope this trend continues and I will share them with you as I go.

I have always loved glass blocks, it probably stems from my love of Architecture and Interior Design.  Did you know my undergraduate degree is in Interior Design?  Well now you do.  I have to admit I have not worked in this field for close to twenty years but it was my degree.  Anyway back to glass blocks…. I have been seeing all the ones people have put lights into and used vinyl on them to make great home decor items.  Well this past weekend I was able to go to a Craft Warehouse for the first time.  I loved it as there were so many great craft items on display of what you could make.  One of the things they had were glass blocks which has a plastic bottom which would allow you to fill the inside ~ ingenious!!! Here is my creation:

Snowman glass block_1

I the glass block would work perfectly as a snowman. I designed my own face  and cut it on vinyl using my Silhouette.  I saw an adorable felt hat there but it was too small so I made my own.  I found a how to on the web and modified the directions so mine would be a little smaller.

I also had just seen the CTMH video Craft your Curls which I posted last week about using fabric to create flowers.  I told you I would post something I designed soon and check out my cool flower using the Sparkle and Shine textiles.  I only used two layers to create my flower as the video shows three.

November Card Workshop

Would you like to get a few of your holiday cards done then this is the perfect card workshop for you.  The workshop will be held Tuesday November 19th at 6:30 pm.  I have four holiday cards with the Sparkle and Shine paper.   I have to admit there have been so many beautiful cards created out there by so many talented consultants.  I was so impressed by them that I decided to make my one takes on them.

This fun origami inspired card was my take on one designed by Diana Veenendaal.

Santa Claus

This design was based off some card that Karen Pedersen designed.

Ho Ho Ho card_2

This card is a replica of one that was designed by Gina Brandstetter.  It was designed so perfectly I had to recreate it for myself.

Mojo Monday 318

This one is my own creation based off Mojo Monday 318 sketch.

Mojo Monday Christmas Card

Its Mojo Monday time again!  Mojo Monday came out with a great sketch for this weeks contest.  It was one that as soon as I saw it I knew what I was going to do.  Here is the great sketchMojo318Sketch

Here is what I designed:

Mojo Monday 318

For this card I used an embossing folder on the background juniper cardstock.   I used the Sparkle and Shine peppermint striped paper and coordinating washi tape.  I used the washi as ribbon and to create interest on my tag.  I use the Trim a Tree stamp set with these adorable ornaments.

Merry & Bright

I know it seems really early to be featuring Christmas layouts since we have not even gotten to Halloween yet.  I hear you and totally understand.  The great news is when you scrapbook you can pick any event, holiday or occasion and celebrated at any time.  I have just been inspired by the new Holiday from the Heart Gift Guide and having so much fun designing.

Sparkle and Shine Merry & Bright left

For the tittle I used silver embossing powder and ruby ink.  To achieve this two color look I used masking tape to mask off the parts of the stamp while I did each.

Christmas Chreer ~ early

I have been really inspired by the new Sparkle & Shine paper.  It seemed effortless to create a series of layouts using this new paper pack.  The colors are so fun and that shimmer is so cool.

The stars with the Sparkle & Shine WOTG stamp set add a fun festive touch.

The Sparkle and shine dimensional complements are just the right touch.  I topped off the ornaments with a bit of bakers twine.

ABC Blog ~ T is for Tree ~

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter T.   When I was thinking about what to create which starts with the letter “T” the first thing that popped into my mind was ~ Tree.  I love the holiday trees on the cover of the Holiday from the Heart Gift Guide.  How fun would it be to create one of those.  Here is my take on those wonderful trees.

Sparkle & Shine tree

To create this tree I used Ruby cardstock (X5927), the Sparkle and Shine paper (X7176B), Silver glitter paper (Z1829), Ruby Chevron Ribbon (Z1846) and Pink Glitter Gems ( Z1807).   To create the rosettes I cut the paper in the below dimensions.  I then used my scalloped border punch (Z1851) along each strip.  I then scored each strip as the dip in the scallop edge.  I inked the edges in ruby and then folded the paper along the score lines.  I then took my Crop-a-dial and punched a small hole in the center of the scallops.  Be careful not to catch your fingers in the center part while you are doing this ~ I learned the hard way, it hurts really bad!!!!

The next step was to glue the strips together and make the rosettes.  I used an assortment of  circles from 2″ to 5/8″ to hot glue my rosettes to, one on top and bottom.  I varied the two sizes in each layer so one was a bit smaller then the one below.  I did use a wood skewer in the center to help hold my tree strait.  The snowflakes were cut out using my Silhouette.

Strip dimensions starting from the bottom and working up to the top. These are the sizes of the strips before I used the border punch on them.

  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Striped

  • (2) 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (2) 2″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 2″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby

For this page I cut the title “Believe in the Magic” on my Silhouette using Juniper cardstock.  I used the Sparkle & Shine Washi tape for ribbon on the tag.

The shimmer of the silver washi tape is so awesome.  I also love how all of the Sparkle & Shine paper has that wonderful simmer too.
