Heart 2 Heart ~ Slimline

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This is our second challenge for the month of January. This challenge is about Slimline Cards. I have to be honest in that I never have liked the slimline look until about 4 months ago and then a switch flipped. I now love them. Please join us in this challenge and creating your own slimline card, just remember you must include at least ONE Close to My Heart product in your entry.

I used the new Slimline base card which comes with a envelope (so no need to make like I have been doing). The first step was to stamp the snowflakes in White Pigment ink and then use White Embossing Powder. I used Peacock Feathers Oxide ink to create the background. I then cut the Fancy Stitched Borders Thin Cuts using Daisy White cardstock. I then lightly penciled where they were going. I then curved the tree stamp border from the Month of the Year ~ January stamp set along those penciled lines. I stamped in Black Pigment ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. The Snow Days sentiment was stamped in Sapphire Pigment ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

I wanted to add a bit more dimension to my card so I used my Clear Shimmer brush to add splatters to the background. I also added a bit of Diamond Stickles Glitter Glue. To create the snow I used the Opaque Matte Texture Paste.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until January 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #424 ~ Non-Traditional

During December we have two Color Dare Challenges running until the end of the month. One is Traditional Holiday colors and the other is Non-Traditional Holiday colors. This week I am participating in the Non-Traditional colors.

I focused on Pinks and Blues for my card.

I used the Yuletide Borders Thin Cuts on black cardstock. I paired it with on of the zipstrips from Jingle Joy Paper Pack. The glacier snow flake is from the Holiday Stacks. I used both sizes of the Stitched Fancy Brackets Thin Cuts. The sentiment and snowmen come from Jubilee Crew Stamp Set and Thin Cuts.

Here is a close up of the snowmen. I used the Mint Shimmer Brush and the Raspberry Shimmer brush to color the scarf and hat.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #424  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Everything ABC’s Blog Hop ~ Letter Z

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!!!

ABC's Blog BadgeThis week we will be featuring the letter “Z”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Z” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from JODI BREWSTER’S BLOG then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating consultants at the bottom of this post.

The letter “Z” is another one of those difficult letters.  Thankfully CTMH has these wonderful things called ZIPSTRIPS on the top of all of our pattern papers.  It just worked out beautifully as I needed to make gift card holders and the ZIPSTRIPS work as the band. Take a look….

gift-card-holder-catscrapbooking-comI used the one of the glacier papers from the Whimsy Fundamentals and added the Zipstrip from City Sidewalks Paper pack.  I also just love this snowman and the coordinating thin cuts from Cozy Christmas.

Now it is time to hop on over to JENIFER BENNER’S BLOG  and see what she has created for you today.

Color Dare #124 ~ Glacier, Kraft and Daisy White

Welcome to a new year with Color My Heart Color Dare.  This year we are changing things up a bit, this year the colors combinations will include neutral if they are allowed.  The exceptions are black and white which can be used for sentiments and outlines unless otherwise noted.  This week for Color Dare #124 the colors are Glacier, White Daisy and Kraft.

Color Dare #124

These colors spoke to me of winter and with all the white on the ground I knew a snow scene was in order.  I pulled out a retired stamp set that I love ~ All Decked Out D1308.  I know embossing would be the perfect key to getting my white and a little interest.

Color Dare #124 ~ Glacier, Kraft and White inside ~ catscrapbooking.comI could not resist photographing this card outside since it was a beautiful sunny day after a fresh snowfall.  The sky was so blue with that white snow.  I did have a little water get on the inside of the card at the bottom while photographing but it dried fine.  For this card I used the following products:

  • Cardstock ~ Kraft and White Daisy.
  • Paper Pack ~ Snowhaven (I only used the Zip Strip)
  • Embossing ~ White embossing powder, Versamark, Craft Heater
  • Stamp Sets ~ All Decked Out D1308 (retired), Shredding the Slopes D1603 and Hand Lettered Winter Wishes (Simon Says Stamp set)
  • Thin Foam tape

Now how about you giving it a try?  Just create your card, layout, or craft and hop on over to Color My Heart and link you creation HERE.

Frosty the Lighted Snowman

I know it is not Thanksgiving yet, but I am getting excited for the holidays.  I have been able to create a few things so far this year.  I hope this trend continues and I will share them with you as I go.

I have always loved glass blocks, it probably stems from my love of Architecture and Interior Design.  Did you know my undergraduate degree is in Interior Design?  Well now you do.  I have to admit I have not worked in this field for close to twenty years but it was my degree.  Anyway back to glass blocks…. I have been seeing all the ones people have put lights into and used vinyl on them to make great home decor items.  Well this past weekend I was able to go to a Craft Warehouse for the first time.  I loved it as there were so many great craft items on display of what you could make.  One of the things they had were glass blocks which has a plastic bottom which would allow you to fill the inside ~ ingenious!!! Here is my creation:

Snowman glass block_1

I the glass block would work perfectly as a snowman. I designed my own face  and cut it on vinyl using my Silhouette.  I saw an adorable felt hat there but it was too small so I made my own.  I found a how to on the web and modified the directions so mine would be a little smaller.

I also had just seen the CTMH video Craft your Curls which I posted last week about using fabric to create flowers.  I told you I would post something I designed soon and check out my cool flower using the Sparkle and Shine textiles.  I only used two layers to create my flower as the video shows three.
