Technique Hop – “Inky Fingers”

Welcome to the Inky Fingers Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use inks. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 12 makers participating in this hop.

I played around with resist and oxide inks. I used the Distressed Watercolor paper and then used VersaMark ink with the snowflakes from the Elegant Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts. I then used White Embossing Powder on the snowflakes.

For this card I sponged on the Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire on over the embossed snowflakes. I then used my spray bottle and my stencil I created to use with the bokeh with a wet paper towel. I placed the stencil over the cardstock and then dabbed the wet paper towel to create the circles. Then using the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut to frame the cardstock. I then used the spray bottle to add the variation on size. I then added a 3/4 inch strip of velum. I then used the Yuletide Borders with Silver Foil Papers.

With this card I repeated the first steps with VersaMark ink, Snowflakes, and Distressed Watercolor Cardstock. This time using I stamped the Oxide inks on my All Purpose mat. I then spritzed with water and then smooshed the cardstock on to the paper and drying using my heating tool. I repeated this process adding layers of color. This time I used Vellum and Black Cardstock with the Yuletide Borders.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Blue Belle

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This week our challenge is Blue Belle which is the Color of the Year for Close To My Heart. This is one of my favorites so far! It is so pretty and works wonderfully for winter in my opinion. I designed a fun layout for this challenge. Please remember if you are going to play along please be sure to include at least one Close to My Heart Product.

I designed this layout using the Make It From The Heart Volume 3, pattern 15. I used the Seasonal Mix-in Papers.

I realized I forgot to print one of my photos so I used a place holder for now. I used a white spray paint which is in my stash for the splatters on the Blue Belle cardstock. I used Sapphire cardstock to back the photos. I cut the Sledding fun with my Cricut using Blue Belle Glitter paper and French Vanilla Cardstock. I used the fun Elegant Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts. I stamped the snowflakes in Blue Belle then used the Blue Belle Shimmer Pen and some Diamond Stickles Glitter Glue.

I also used some Blue belle shimmer trim at the top of the photo blocks. I love these colors as they coordinate so well with my son’s coat.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until November 30th to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Wood You Rather?

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are challenging you to use wood. This could be wood grain papers, wood embellishments, or maybe your photos involve being in the woods. What ever you create be sure to include and clearly indicate that you used at least one Close to My Heart product.

For this layout I used French Vanilla for the base. I then used the Seasonal Mix ins with one of the new Wood Grain Papers. I did pull one of the zipstrips from Bloom with Grace paper. I then pulled some of my retired wood shapes that would work perfectly with this layout.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until September 30th to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

I chose this color palette….

Here is my creation….

I used the Glacier pattern paper from the Seasonal Mix In Paper Pack as the background. I used the Winter Flurries Thin Cuts and cut using Heather and Glacier.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Christmas Countdown and used Peacock Ink. The swirls are from Falling Flakes stamp set and stamped int Heather. I added a some shimmer to the Glacier snow flake using my  Clear Shimmer Brush.

Holiday Sparkle/Seasons of Joy Blog Hop

Welcome to the Holiday Sparkle and Season of Joy Blog Hop!!

You will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop.  For this hop we are featuring artwork which showcases our current special HOLIDAY SPARKLE and our new Cricut Cartridge SEASON OF JOY. I am sure you will find a wide variety of inspirations on this hop.

If you are just arriving here from MELISSA ROBINSON’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 14 consultants participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I decided to play around with the LOVE WITH ALL THE TRIMMING stamp set as I think this stamp set is super awesome!  Not only can you use it with the Holiday Sparkle shaker cards you can also use it to create your own cards.

For my first card I decided to use my Silver embossing powder to add a sentiment in the shaker window.I also used the Silver embossing powder with the snowflakes for the LOVE WITH ALL THE TRIMMING stamp set.  I then pulled some of the stars out of my Loose Silver Sequins to add a bit more bling to my card.

I then decided to create my own card using the LOVE WITH ALL THE TRIMMING stamp set.

For this card I used the new Snowflake thin cuts.  I arranged them on my Sapphire cardstock.  I then pieced the loose pieces of the snowflake to my card so that I was actually using the negative space instead of the cut snowflakes.  I then use the new Silver Embellishing Thread with the Silver Glitter paper.  I added a couple of the white Loose Silver Sequins to my card to look like snow.
