Technique Blog Hop – Make it Shine

Welcome to the Make it Shine Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are featuring focusing on things that shine! So it is up to the Maker to pick the products they wish to showcase. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 9 makers participating in this hop.

So today is my son’s 10th birthday and I wanted to make him a fun card. One of his favorite stuffed animals in a pair of sharks he named Clark and Clarke. I thought it would be fun to make him a shark theme birthday card.

I decided to play with the Slimline Celebration, new Glitter paper, Oxide inks, shimmer brush, Stickles, and gems. I started by creating my own background using Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Chipped Sapphire inks. Here is what is looked like.

I then spritzed the background with water and Clear Shimmer brush. I then trimmed it to 3 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches.

You can see some of those oxide reactions have a bit a shine to it. I cut the Circle Cluster Thin Cut with Capri Glitter paper. I combined the Jawsome Birthday Stamp & Thin Cut with Fishy Greetings Stamp Set. I also used the new Lagoon Gems and Diamond Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

I went with #3 ~ Yellow, Green, Violet, & Red.

Using my Oxide Inks and one of the new Stencils from Card Front Stencil Pack 2. I used Wilted Violet, Mustard Seed, Candy Apple and Rustic Wilderness. Color Dare #447 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe Stars & Sparklers

Welcome to another week with Color Dare!! This week we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board for Color Dare #447. This Tic-Tac-Toe board is based around the Stars and Sparklers Paper Pack. How this works is choose any column, row, or diagonal. Black, White, Gold and Kraft are free.

I went with the diagonal ~ Carolina, Toffee, Scarlet plus Sapphire, Black, White and Gold.

I realized I was lacking anniversary cards so I decided to make one as a slimline. I used the Stars & Sparkles paper pack for the pattern paper. I used Toffee, Carolina, Sapphire, and Scarlet cardstocks. I love the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts and used both the large and small for this card. I used the Simple Stitched Bracket Thin Cut for the sentiment which is from a retired stamp set Card Captions. I added a couple of Gold Glitter Gems for shimmer.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #447  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. Slimline Card Blog Hop

Welcome to the Slimline Card Blog Hop!

You will be hopping with the same talented Makers who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop. For this hop we are featuring the Slimline Cards! There will be sure to see some beautiful artwork!

If you are just arriving here from DARLYS RECKER’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating Makers on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 13 Makers participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I decided to use the new Thin Cut Circles to make this card. I used the 2 inch circle to make the cuts. Here is how I designed it.

I stared with a 3 x 8 inch piece of Daisy White. I drew a line down the center at 1 1/2 inches. I then made tick marks at 1/2 inch, 2 1/2 inch, 3 inch, 5 inch, 5 1/2 inch and 7 1/2 inch. I then lined the circle thin cut up in the 2 inch spaces.

This is what it looked like. I then erased the pencil marks. I then used Chipped Sapphire and Peeled Paint oxide inks to color the base. I used the circles to stamp the images from the Take a Hike Stamp Set. I added a couple of the Wood Arrows and Black Dots.

Pocket Card Perfection Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pocket Card Perfection Blog Hop!

You will be hopping with the same talented Makers who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop. For this hop we are featuring the Picture My Life cards, also known as PML cards! There will be sure to see some beautiful artwork!

If you are just arriving here from GINA BRANDSTETTER’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating Makers on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 12 Makers participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

So I may have gone a bit overboard. I decided to make birthday cards using the PML Cards. I started with just making five and then just kept going. I ended up making 13 and only have 6 of the PML cards from the pack remaining.

For this card I created a background using my Oxide inks and then cut down the Birthday PML card.

These two I created based on patterns 2 & 17 in the Make It from your Heart Volume 4 book. I added some of the In This Together Dots and a Yellow Acrylic Stars.

By trimming off the sentimentI and repositioning it I was able to make it an A4 card size.

For these two I actually used two PML cards. I cut the medium Stitched Rectangle to frame the smaller PML card and paired it with coordinating cardstock. I added a Pink Acrylic Heart and a Yellow Acrylic star. The sentiment on the right is from the Birthday Banners Stamp and Thin Cuts.

The one on the right I hand cut balloons. I added a bit of Liquid glass to all of the ballons. The sentiments are from the On Your Birthday stamp set.

For these two I used some fo the same elements as above, just in a landscape card.

The card on the right uses two PML cards and I used the Raspberry Shimmer brush to go over the sentiment. The card on the left uses the Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday Wood Shapes. I used Chipped Sapphire Oxide ink to color and then went over with my Sapphire Shimmer Brush.

Winter Penguins Birthday Slimline

I decided to start challenging myself and looking at some of the other challenges that are out there. I stumbled on My Favorite Things ~ Slimline Challenge. This month Slimline Challenge is Birthday Wishes.

I used my Cricut to cut the scalloped border with Flamingo and Ballerina. I then played with the Winter Penguins Stamp set and thin cuts. I used the Party Time Papers for the base. The Happy Birthday is from Birthday Borders Stamp and Thin Cut. I used White Pigment and embossed with White Embossing Powder.
