Everything ABC’s Blog Hop ~ Y

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “Y”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Y” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LINDA NORMAN’S Blog then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

The letter “Y” is a difficult letter but it is easier than some others.  We thought it would be great to introduce our son to sports and when a friend reached out saying her son would be playing and she would be coaching, we thought that would be great.  Well our expectaioan of 3-5 year old basket ball was not at all what I expected.  But the YMCA does a great job of just promoting sportsmanship and team building.  On my layout I also used some YARN to do the stitching and the bows. Then I used some of last YEARS fundamental papers.

ABC's Y ~ Basketball Layout ~ Fundamentals ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is a closer look at each side.

ABC's Y ~ Basketball Layout Left ~ Fundamentals ~ CatScrapbooking.comI love the way I was able to incorporate so many photos on this page.  This truly showed how unfocused 4 year old are when it comes to basketball :-).

ABC's Y ~ Basketball Layout Right ~ Fundamentals ~ CatScrapbooking.comI love that this page highlights my son actually making a basket and then how happy he was with himself after.  I used the Basketball image from Artbooking, I then welded 4 together in Design Space to make the border.  I then repeated the process with the basketballs after hiding the contour of the grooves of the basketball.  To get the Awesome stamp multicolors I did a bit of making.

ABC's Y ~ Basketball layout detail ~ Fundamentals ~ CatScrapbooking.comTo create the two tone stamping for this one I fussy cut the Sunset pieces and adhered them over the Outdoor Denim.

Scaredy Cat Wreath

I can’t believe Halloween is tomorrow and as much as I wanted to design another Halloween layout, card or home decor, I  have run out of time.  So I decided to show how versatile seasonal paper packs can be.   Just because something is labeled as Halloween does not mean it is it only purpose.

I used last years Scaredy Cat paper pack to design this really cool wreath using cones. Dahlia Wreath ~ Cone Wreath ~ Scardy Cat ~ CatScrapbooking.comTo make this wreath I cut 4″ x4″ squares for the outer three rings then reduced the size to 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ and the inner most ring is 3″ x 3″.  I then created the cones and hot glued them to an ~ 11″ circle of scrap mat board. The center is a Whisper cardstock cut from Artiste #M41354 then the Colonial White is just a 2.84″ circle.  The doily is cut from Artiste also #M41354  cut at 2.71″ high in Sunset.  The finished wreath size is about 19″ in diameter. I love this Dahlia style wreath and designed another one which I will share with you next Saturday so be sure to check back.

Artfully Sent – Spooky

Do you have the new Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge from Close to My Heart?  If you answered no and you enjoy making cards then you may want to purchase one soon as this will be a perfect addition to your crafting tools.  I have been trying to find some time to play around with my new cartridge.  My biggest challenge was picking my first card to try.

I decided on a halloween card but there are so many other ones I want to do, so stay tuned.  The halloween card is a pop-up card which is on page 44.

Scaredy Cat Spooky Artfully Sent ~ catscrapbooking.comHere is the cover of the card.   The spooky is cute from Artbooking and Scaredy Cat is the perfect paper for all your halloween fun.

Scaredy Cat Spooky Artfully Sent inside 2Isn’t this pop up card adorable??? I was really easy to crate.  I added a couple of layers with the Sunset behind the windows on the haunted house and behind the face on the tree.  I added some silver glitter paper behind the moon to add some sparkle and some black stars.

Supplies used:

  • Paper Pack ~ Scaredy Cat  X7185B
  • Cardstock ~ Thistle, Black, Sunset
  • Glitter Paper ~ Silver & Black
  • Embellishments ~ Scaredy Cat Assortment, Black Enamel Stars, Thistle Ribbon & Black Twill ribbon
  • Cricut Cartridge ~ Artfully Sent & Artbooking
