Using Studio J™ to Print Photos

I have been blogging lately explaining how I now use Studio J™ to print my photos for my layouts.  I was so happy when Close to My Heart came out with the Express Collection which is just photo wells in various sizes that I started to jump for joy!!  Then to make me even more elated they are offering all Studio J™ layouts for $5 for the entire month of March!!!  So do you want to learn how to use this wonderful feature??? Well here we go…

The first thing you need to do (if you haven’t already) is create an online account.  Then you will need to log on and that can be done here

Once you have logged on you will want to select create a new project.  Then you will see this screen where you will want to name you project.Studio J - creating new project

Once you name your project you will be prompted to upload your photos.

Studio J - upload photos

Once you click on the start uploading photos now button it will open up a window where you can browse your computer for the photos you want to work with.  For me I do my editing in Photoshop Elements then I copy the ones I plan to scrapbook into a folder on my desktop to make uploading easier.

It will take a couple of minutes for the photos to upload into Studio J™, but this is what you will see when it is done.

Now that you have your photos uploaded it is time to get started.  Keep in mind you can always upload more photos later.  The next step will be to select the continue button at the bottom of the screen in the lower right corner.   You will want to select the “Start with Express Collections”

Then select the “Photo Collections” then select continue in the lower right corner.

You will then see the seven possible layouts from which you can choose ~ 2×2, 3×3, 3×4, 4×4, 4×6, 6×8 and 5×7.

Choose the one you wish to use.  Then just drag the photo you want into the photo well.  Once the photo is in the well you can zoom in on the photo, rotate the photo, add a mat, or change the photo to black/white or sepia.  To move the photo so that a different part of the photo is the focus, then move your cursor over the outline of the hand move the photo.

When you are ready to add another layout with different photos sizes, just click on the “add layout” button in the bottom right of the page.  You will want to select “keep using the same express collection”.  Then you will choose the layout you want and press continue.

You can switch back and forth between the layouts within your project simply by clicking on the layout thumbnail at the bottom.
