If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LAUREN MOORE’S Blog  then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

I have been on a bit of a mission to complete some layouts as I have the photos printed and the layouts picked, all I have to do is pick the papers and scrapbook.  So I was flipping through the photos and stumbled on my son’s first hair cut ~ perfect!!  So this was a totally NEW experience for him.   Then when I pulled out the layout I realized it was titled NOW You See It from the Magic How to Book.  I then used a NON-Traditional element for boys which were the flowers.

ABC's N ~ Pathfinding Layout ~ catscrapbooking.comI picked Pathfinding paper pack for the colors which worked great with the photos.

ABC's N ~ Pathfinding Layour right pg ~ catscrapbooking.comSo for this layout I used my Cricut Explore and Silhouette to make cuts.  The leaves came from Artiste and Artbooking and envelope was from Artfully Sent.  The First Haircut was a SVG file from Silhouette.

Color Dare #120

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge #120.  For this week we are featuring Barn Red, Goldrush, Glacier, Olive, and Lagoon.  Which just so happens to be the colors of the Pathfinding paper pack!!

Color Dare #120

I really love the leaves of the Fall Harvest stamp set.  I wanted to try a new way to color them using a technique I had seen using stamp pads, the all purpose mat and a spray pen.  Here is how it works.  the first step is to rub your ink pad onto the shinny side of your CTMH All Purpose mat.  If you do not have an all purpose mat you may be able to do this with a ziplock style bag.  I used one of my spay pens with a little water to spay the inked area.

ink technique ~

I cut the leaves using my silhouette ~ I created my own cut file.  Then placing the paper or in this case the leaves face down into the ink I was able to create a marbled look.

Ink technique 2 ~

I then just wiped the mat with a baby wipe and the ink is all cleaned up.  I then flipped the mat over and using my craft heater I dried the leaves so I could stamp them in Chocolate.  I really like the way they turned out.

The Stampers with Attitude is the team lead by Kimberly Moss.  This month the Stampers with Attitude are going to be showcasing Autumn based artwork.   If you are just hopping here from SHEILA BENNETT’s Blog then you are in the right spot. The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants at the end of this blog.

For my Autumn artwork, I love the Pathfinding paper pack so I knew whatever I designed would be using this paper pack.  I am also still so infatuated with the Artfully Sent Cartridge that I knew this would also be part of my design. So how to decide what to do??? I really love the scene cards and have been wanting to make one in particular ~ the one with the deer and the bunny.  As you may know already I love to design things with animals in them so this was really a no brainer.

Life Time of Happiness…OPPS

Do you ever have one of those days when you realize in your attempts to stay on things you really are not at all?  Well I had one of those days.  I have been trying to make the most of my limited craft time these days and with my mom coming to visit.  I had some craft time last week and I grabbed what I though was the November SOTM to make cards for a swap I participate in.   I was so proud of myself as I loved the card I designed and go them all mailed off so they would meet the swap deadline.  Well the next day the package came back to me, the automated mail station did not calculate the correct postage and it needed more.  I though no big deal so I added the needed postage and off it went.  I photographed the card so I could blog about it.  I sat down to prepare my blog which would feature the November stamp of the month and realized I had not used the correct stamp!!!!  I had just reached for a stamp set which was sitting on my desk and instead of confirming it was the one I needed I just got inspired and away I went.

Oh well…. I still really love the way this card turned out.  So it really was not a big deal other than the fact I look like an idiot to the person who organizes the swap and I still needed to create a card for the November Stamp of the Month.  The stamp set I mistakenly grabbed was Lifetime of Happiness C1589.

Lifetime of Happiness ~

I really love this stamp set with all the flowers but my two favorite elements are the beautiful bow and the adorable acorn.  Here is the card I created.

lifetime of happiness ~ Pathfinding ~ catscrapbooking.comI decided I did not want to fussy cut all these elements so I scanned the carrier sheet and imported it into my silhouette.  This enabled me to create cut files for each of the items.

Products used:

  • Paper Pack ~Pathfinding X7186B
  • Cardstock ~ Chocolate, Champagne, Colonial White
  • Stamp Set ~ Lifetime of Happiness C1589
  • Ink ~ Autumn Terricotta, Glacier, Goldrush, Barn Red, Honey, Chocolate and Olive
  • Embellishment ~ Bronze Shimmer trim Z1849, Bling Gems Gold Assortment Z1263

Pathfinding Kits

Well I have just finished the kits for the beautiful Pathfinding paper pack.  I love fall and all the colors.  Not to mention I always have lots of photos to scrapbook this time of year with Thanksgiving, picking pumpkins, going to farms and just all the beautiful colors around us.  Although I have to say I am now spoiled with all these things; however, growing up in New Orleans you don’t really get to appreciate the change of colors.

I am going to be offering two levels to Pathfinding scrapbook kits.  There will be a Basic and a WOTG (you are not going to compete the actually layouts in the WOTG but use all the elements).

The Basic

Pathfinding Fall Colors ~ catscrpbooking

Pathfinding Family layout ~ catscrapbooking.comFor the basic kit you will get all the shapes and paper pre-cut, the shimmer trim and ribbon you see in the photos.  You will also receive color photo and directions for assembly.  The cost is $14 plus shipping.  If you want the Pathfinding assortment as shown in these layouts the total cost is $22 plus shipping.

The WOTG Kit:

Pathfinding Fall Colors ~

Pathfinding Family Layout ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this kit you will be purchasing the WOTG which includes the stamp set used, the Pathfinding assortment and the Gems.  However you will not be completing the layouts shown in the WOTG.   You will have some left over paper.  I will cut all the paper for you and send you the additional shimmer trim, and ribbon.  I will also include color photos and the directions to assemble.  The cost of this kit is $38.50 plus shipping.

Keep in mind I still have my Chalk It Up Kit and the Scarey Cat mini album kit available too.  I will be posting the details of my Snowhaven notecard kit very soon, so watch for the details.

September 2014 SOTM

This stamp set works well for both cards and scrapbook layouts.  Here is a layout I designed using this stamp set.

SOTM 09-14 Family is Forever Layout_5068For this layout I chose the Pathfinding paper pack as it really fit the time of year for my layout.  I have always loved seeing layouts with some doodling so I decided to be be brave and add a border around the layout.  One of the things I like about this stamp set is the words are a great size to work as a tittle for your layout.  I also really like the heart and decided to add a little texture and color to the image.

SOTM 09-14 Family is Forever Layout detail

After stamping the heart in Chocolate pigment ink I then added Clear embossing powder to the stamped image.  If you a re not aware when you stamp with pigment ink it takes a little longer to dry as the ink stays on top of your cardstock instead of being absorbed into the paper.  This works to your advantage when you want to heat emboss and image.  Normally you would need to stamp over the image with a versa mark pad to get embossing powder to stick but since I was using the pigment inks, I was able to get the embossing powder to grip to the pigment ink.  Once it was heat embossed I used our new Shin Han markers to add a little color.

CTMH Supplies used for this project:

  • Pathfinding Paper Pack
  • Cardstock – Champagne, Glacier & Chocolate
  • Stamp Set ~ Family is Forever
  • Shin Han Markers ~ Turquoise Blue, Leaf Green & Sap Green
  • Embelishments ~ Bronze Shimmer trim, Clear Embossing powder, Brown and Tan Sparkles

Annual Inspirations New Product Blog Hop

Well today is the day!!! The new Annual Inspirations Idea Book goes live!!!! Are you as excited as I am???   You can now purchase all the new goodies you see in the catalog.   Today I am participating in the CTMH blog boosters new product blog hop, which will feature lost of fabulous new artwork with the new products.

New Product blog hop

When I first looked through the catalog one of the things that caught my eye were the pinecones which are seen on pg 24 and 25.  You can also see them again on page 46.    I knew this was going to be one of my first projects.  So I looked around the internet for instructions on how to make them.  I will give you a tutorial below but here are my Pathfinding pinecones.

Pathfinding Pinecones ~ Catscrapbooking.comThese pinecones are really easy to make.  I actually started with a 4″ circle Styrofoam ball, I would recommend looking for the 4″  styrofoam egg instead as it will save you a step.  (I was too eager to start that I did not realize there were egg shaped styrofoam).  So my first step was to make the circle an egg.  I did this by rolling the ball on a hard surface and applying pressure with the palm of my hand to result in the desired egg shape.

Pathfinding Pinecones_foam shapesNext I took the Pathfinding Paper and cut 1″ squares.  I then folded two of the corners in to create a pointed square, see the photo below you will see the folded squares on the right.   Then using strait pins you will secure the pointed squared to your egg.  Starting at the narrow part of your egg place your initial four squares.

Pathfinding Pinecones_starting the coneFor your second row you will overlap slightly and again secure each piece with strait pins.  Each layer you will overlap and drop down slightly.

Pathfinding Pinecones_adding layersPathfinding Pinecones_more layers

You will continue this the whole way down the styrofoam egg.  Once you reach the bottom you can use Liquid Glass to secure the final four pieces to cover the pins.  One full sheet of 12×12 paper is enough to complete a single pinecone.

Pathfinding Pinecones_completedSimple ~ I can’t wait to make a bunch of these and give them as gifts.  They are so much fun and look so beautiful.

Supplies used:

  • 4″ styrofoam circle or egg
  • Pathfinding Paper Pack X7186B
  • Straight pins
  • Liquid Glass  Z679
