Technique Hop – Let’s Get Geometrical

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on accents of white on our projects! So it is up to the Maker to pick the products and how they wish to showcase. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 14 makers participating in this hop.

So have you ever had a concept in your mind and are excited to make it? Well I had envisioned an idea of overlapping squares creating a cool effect but when it came to execution it did not turn our quite the way I envisioned. The slimline on the other hand worked the way I planned.

For this card I use Sapphire, Lagoon and Green Apple colors. The squares are1.25 inches and I probably should have over lapped them differently so that the sides were even. Well next time. I added the stitching using my White Gel pen and added a couple of white sequins. The sentiment is from Festive Borders Stamp and Thin Cuts. I colored the letters with my TriBlend Markers.

This card turned out the way I hoped. I used the Slimline stencil which is one of the Rewards Your Way Special. I used Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Candy Apple Oxide Inks. I used a masking technique to prevent the colors from bleeding on the other when I sponged them on. I cut the Birthday using the Slimline Thin Cuts. I actually cut three layers with the Black Core Cardstock to make them have more dimension. The adorable koala is from the Smitten collection. I masked the be mine form the balloon when I stamped it so I could add a different one. I happened to have the new Craft with Heart Card Subscription on my desk and one of the “happy” worked perfectly.

Here is a close up of the layered cardstock stentiment.

Color Dare #477 ~ Inspirational Photo

Welcome to the last Color Dare Challenge of 2021! For Color Dare Challenge #477 we are featuring an inspirational photo. For this challenge you need to choose at least three of the colors seen in the photo. Black and White are Free to use.

I decided to use Pink, Purple and Greed with Black and White.

I played with a couple of new products I got from Honey Bee Stamps. I used the Lovely Layers Rose Honey cut for the beautiful rose. I used only Wild Berry cardstock for the flower. I used a sponge to ink the edges to create the darker layers. I used Evergreen and Clover Cardstock for the stem and leaves. I used the Delicate Doily Stencil with Villainous Potions Oxide Ink on Daisy White Cardstock. I then used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut. I pulled the sentiment from my stash which I used Black Pigment Ink and the Heat Embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I used my Clear Shimmer Brush to splatter the stenciled doily and to go over the rose.

Now it is your turn to create! Technique Hop – “Accents of White”

Welcome to the Technique Hop!

This month we are focusing on accents of white on our projects! So it is up to the Maker to pick the products and how they wish to showcase. If you are coming from KIM LOEWEN’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 8 makers participating in this hop.

For my card I decided to create my own background using White Embossing Powder, Oxide Inks, Clear Shimmer Brush and White Gloss Spray. I used the If Snowflakes Were Kisses Stamp and Thin Cuts along with the Floral Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts.

The first step was to stamp a few of the snowflakes onto Daisy White cardstock using VersaMark ink. I then used the White Embossing Powder. I then sponged on Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire Distressed Oxide Ink.

I spritzed the cardstock with water, then splattered the Clear Shimmer Brush and sprayed a bit of the White Gloss Spray. This photo it taken before I took my shammy and wiped the ink off the embossed snowflakes. So in the final card you notice how white the snowflakes look.

I cut the tag for the sentiment with the Buildable Tag Thin Cuts. I used the VersaMark ink and White Embossing Powder for the sentiment. I then used my White Gel Pen to make the stitching around the edge and the white accent on the nose of the polar bear. I colored the polar bear with my Tri-blend Markers and popped him up with a bit of foam tape.

November SOTM – Created to Shine Blog Hop

Welcome to the November SOTM blog hop!

I did a bit of masking to create this card but I am happy with the way it turned out.

So to create this card, I stamped the image on two separate sheets of Daisy White. The first one I cut out the centers of the lights and used it as a mask to add color to the light bulbs. I used Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserve, Chipped Sapphire and Spiced Marmalade oxide inks. After coloring the bulbs, I used washi tape to mask off the glow lines and add the color. I them masked the sentiment “created to shine” and only used the “shine”. I stamped with black pigment ink and used Clear Embossing power. I used the Stitched rectangles to cut the Daisy White and then matted on Black cardstock. I then added a bit of shine by adding Diamond Stickles around the bulbs.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of NOVEMBER. If you are a member of the Close To My Heart VIP program and you place a qualifying order of $50 in the US, you will get the stamp for FREE!! I stamped the sentiment with White Pigment ink and then used White Embossing Powder on it. I used my Tri-Blend markers to color and added a bit of Silver Stickles for the buttons.

It was hard to choose which of these adorable images to use. I decided to show you two ways you could color the flowers.

So I went with the cute hedgehog. I used the Oval Frame Thin cut for both of these cards. One was made into a shaker and the other was not.

This hedgehog I use colored pencils to color. I then curved the sentiment to put below the hedgehog. I used the Papaya cardstock on the black.

For this one I made into a shaker. I added the lagoon loose gems. For this hedgehog I used oxide inks and water on watercolor paper. I then stamped the image on the watercolor paper. I then fussy cut the flowers and paper pieced on to another stamped image.

Color Dare #463 ~ Fall Photo Inspiration

Happy Friday! Fall looks different in very part of the world. Here is Colorado we are slowly beginning to see cooler temperatures and the leaves are beginning to change. For Color Dare Challenge #463 we have a fun one for you. We have a photo inspiration for this weeks challenge, simply choose at least three colors from the photo plus Black and White are free.

I love this photo inspiration! Maybe it is because fall is my favorite! I heard a survey saying would you choose to only have Fall all year or have the other 3 seasons and never have fall. For me I would choose to have fall all year round!

For this card I used the Honey Bee Scattered Leaves Stencil with Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo Distressed Oxide Ink. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut and then matted with Mocha Cardstock. I used Mocha, Paprika and Papaya cardstock for this Sunflower by Honey Bee Stamps. I added a bit of Rose Gold Shimmer Trim to go with the sentiment which is from the For All Occasions stamp set. I added a couple of Rose Gold Sequins for a little bling.

So today is my son’s 10th birthday and I wanted to make him a fun card. One of his favorite stuffed animals in a pair of sharks he named Clark and Clarke. I thought it would be fun to make him a shark theme birthday card.

I then spritzed the background with water and Clear Shimmer brush. I then trimmed it to 3 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches.

You can see some of those oxide reactions have a bit a shine to it. I cut the Circle Cluster Thin Cut with Capri Glitter paper. I combined the Jawsome Birthday Stamp & Thin Cut with Fishy Greetings Stamp Set. I also used the new Lagoon Gems and Diamond Stickles.

August SOTM – Tutti Frutti Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!!

I have a couple of projects for you today with this fun stamp set.

This week we had the CTMH Virtual Conference and it was amazing! I was inspired by some of the presenters who used oxide inks on our Foil Pattern Papers. I decided to give it a try with our Silver Foil Papers. I used the Seedless Preserves Oxide ink for the background. I love how it turned out!! I then used the Stitched Scallop Bracket Thin Cut for the sentiment. I used the Wood Hearts and colored them with my Black Shimmer Brush. For the larger heart I backed it with Lilac cardstock and added a bit of Silver Embellishing Thread. I used my markers to color the grapes.

I had this idea while making the first card to actually make a bunch of grapes using circles. I pulled a retired embossing folder for the background. I used Grape, Lilac, and New England Ivy cardstock for the grape bunch. I used the 1″ circle Thin Cut.

I used the Isabelle papers to make this Summer layout. I did not have time to get the photo printed but it will be of my son selling lemonade. I used the Isabelle Cricut Collection to cut the lemons. I decided to change the watermelon shape in the Summer with a lemon. I added a few white sequins from the Silver Sequins and the yellow flowers from the Springtime Flowers.

Here is a close up of some of those details. I did add Lemonade Shimmer Brush to the lemons and a few splatters.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of AUGUST.
