Heart 2 Heart ~Let’s Get Inky

Welcome to our first June Challenge!!

For this challenge we want you to use inks to make a background, color items or however you choose to use your inks. Our only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product. I went with using my Oxide inks.

I used my oxide inks to create the backgrounds of each of these cards.

This was the first one I created. I used one of the stencils from the Stencil Pack 3. I sponged Chipped Sapphire ink onto the Daisy White Cardstock. Then using the Stitched Rectangle Thin cuts. I matted the background on black cardstock. I then used the Stitched Fancy Brackets for the background. Using the sapphire Shimmer Brush to splatter behind the sentiment. The sentiment is from the My Dad Rocks Stamp Set. I used the Black Ore Paper for the strip behind the sentiment. The blue dots are from my stash.

For this card I used a combination of oxide inks ~ Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet. After blending the colors, I used a piece of White Daisy that was cut using one of the Fancy Borders Thin Cuts. Using this cut cardstock I used as a mask to create the waves. I used white pigment ink and sponged the waves. I used the 3″ circle thin cut for the sentiment. I used my markers to color in the fish. The dots are also from my stash.

For this one, I created my own stencil with my Cricut. I sponged Mustard Seed, Candy Apple, Faded Jeans and Rustic Wilderness Oxide inks. I used the Square Stitched Thin Cuts. I added a bit of red to the hearts using Carnation Red Liquid Pearls.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. Did you know you can link your projects from Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, and many other platforms using the url link to your design. You have until JUNE 30th, 2021 to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Technique Hop – “Just Distress Oxide It!”

Welcome to the Just Distress Oxide It Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques using Oxide Inks. I have a couple of techniques using Oxide Inks that I want to share with you. As you hop around you will see some fun ways to incorporate these oxide inks into your artwork. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 makers participating in this hop.

These are the three cards I create each using oxide inks in a different way. I will walk you through the different techniques.

For this card I used stencils with the oxide inks Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers to create the background. I then spritzed the oxide inks to create the oxidized look. I used the Hillside Cottage Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts for the fox. I also used the Hillside Cottage Shapes which I colored using the oxide inks. I used the Pumice Stone on the bunny and White Pigment in on the dot in the center of the flower. The flower on the right I use Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn. I added a few dot with Onyx Pearl.

For this card I crated a background by putting some oxide ink on my all purpose mat. I used the Hearts Background Thin Cut, Vellum and an “hello” that was cut with my Cricut and sitting in my extras cup.

You can see I placed the ink on the mat then on the right I spritzed the inks with water. I then started to smoosh the Distressed Oxide paper. Using my heat tool in between applying ink.

For the third card I used my Hexagon Stencil from Stencil pack 2.

For this card I used Candy Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Chipped Sapphire, and Seedless Preserves oxide inks to create my rainbow. I used the Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut for the sentiment, I cut the black layered hexagon freehand. The sentiment is from the stamp set that is part of the Cardmaking Craft with Heart Subscription. I added some Carnation Red Liquid Pearls to give it a bit of pop.

Technique Blog Hop ~ It’s Faux

Welcome to the It’s Faux Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use striped borders. If you notice in the above photo there are several stamped border images creating a striped pattern. I used some of these and crated my own. If you are coming from BRANDI ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 13 makers participating in this hop.

I designed two cards for you. One using the faux wood tiles of the Letter Tiles Stamp and Thin Cuts. The other is using the wood grain papers.

I used the flower stencil from Stencil Pack 1 with Peacock Feathers Oxide Ink. I then sprayed with two of the Lime Green and Cheddar Gloss Spray. I used the Letter Tiles Stamp and Thin Cuts on Almond Cardstock. I used Toffee and Black Ink. I added a couple of the Wood Hearts which I colored with Mustard Seed Oxide ink.

With this card, I used a technique that Brenda Rose showed to fellow makers to apply ink to the wood grain papers. I used the Seedless preserves on one of the wood grain paper. I used Pewter as the base. The flowers are from the Every Bit of Wonderful stamp set. The flowers and leaves were fussy cut. I used the Scalloped Stitched Bracket Thin Cut for the sentiment. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the On Your Birthday Stamp Set

Heart 2 Heart ~ Slimline

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This is our second challenge for the month of January. This challenge is about Slimline Cards. I have to be honest in that I never have liked the slimline look until about 4 months ago and then a switch flipped. I now love them. Please join us in this challenge and creating your own slimline card, just remember you must include at least ONE Close to My Heart product in your entry.

I used the new Slimline base card which comes with a envelope (so no need to make like I have been doing). The first step was to stamp the snowflakes in White Pigment ink and then use White Embossing Powder. I used Peacock Feathers Oxide ink to create the background. I then cut the Fancy Stitched Borders Thin Cuts using Daisy White cardstock. I then lightly penciled where they were going. I then curved the tree stamp border from the Month of the Year ~ January stamp set along those penciled lines. I stamped in Black Pigment ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. The Snow Days sentiment was stamped in Sapphire Pigment ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

I wanted to add a bit more dimension to my card so I used my Clear Shimmer brush to add splatters to the background. I also added a bit of Diamond Stickles Glitter Glue. To create the snow I used the Opaque Matte Texture Paste.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until January 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Peace on Earth

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This week our theme is Peace on Earth. This can be interpreted any way that you see it. To me it spoke about Christmas and a peaceful landscape. Just remember if you wish to play along with us you must use one Close to My Heart product.

For this card I started with VersaMark ink and stamped the Peace and Stars on cardstock and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. The Peace comes from the Craft with Heart Card Subscription Stamp set. I then used Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphires and Black Soot Oxide inks to create the background. I then cut the landscape which is from Yuletide thin cuts. I paired them with the Fancy Borders thin cuts to make the snow with Daisy White and White Glitter Paper. I then cut the whole scene with Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until December 31th to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Technique Hop – “Inky Fingers”

Welcome to the Inky Fingers Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use inks. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 12 makers participating in this hop.

I played around with resist and oxide inks. I used the Distressed Watercolor paper and then used VersaMark ink with the snowflakes from the Elegant Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts. I then used White Embossing Powder on the snowflakes.

For this card I sponged on the Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire on over the embossed snowflakes. I then used my spray bottle and my stencil I created to use with the bokeh with a wet paper towel. I placed the stencil over the cardstock and then dabbed the wet paper towel to create the circles. Then using the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut to frame the cardstock. I then used the spray bottle to add the variation on size. I then added a 3/4 inch strip of velum. I then used the Yuletide Borders with Silver Foil Papers.

With this card I repeated the first steps with VersaMark ink, Snowflakes, and Distressed Watercolor Cardstock. This time using I stamped the Oxide inks on my All Purpose mat. I then spritzed with water and then smooshed the cardstock on to the paper and drying using my heating tool. I repeated this process adding layers of color. This time I used Vellum and Black Cardstock with the Yuletide Borders.

Color Dare #420 ~ Shades of Orange

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is all about the ORANGE! You can use any shade of ORANGE with BLACK, WHITES, ALL NEUTRALS, and METALLICS but that is all!!

I decided to try a technique that Close to My Heart had up on their blog this week.

To create the background I smooshed Spiced Marmalade Oxide ink on my All Purpose Mat. I then took my large watercolor brush and washed the ink onto Distressed Watercolor Paper. I then splattered it with Paprika Shimmer Brush. I used the a couple of thin cuts ~ Leaves Thin cuts and the Thanks Thin Cuts. I used Vellum, Paprika Cardstock and Cooper Ore paper.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #420  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~ New to You

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This is s fun theme! You can feature a new product, a new technique, a new baby, a new house, a new pet…. you get the picture. Please join us! The only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I decided to play around with my oxide inks and gloss sprays which are still new to me. I used the new stencils with Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers. I then added Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray.

I stared by sponging on the colors. I then spritzed with water so the oxide reaction would occur. Then I sprayed and splattered the gloss sprays. For this card I cut the “happy” with my Cricut using the Black Ore paper. I used the birthday form the October Stamp of the Month. I used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut for the black cardstock.

With this version used the stencil to apply the oxide inks. But before I applied the gloss spray I used the stencil as to create the doodle line like Chelsey Vorosmarty showed. I then added the Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray. For this one I cut the Happy with my Cricut, but cut 6 times and glued them together to add dimension.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!
