Purposeful Patterns Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 14 of us highlighting our wonderful patterns from our awesome MAKE IT FROM THE HEART Books. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

If you are coming from TAMMY LUBICK’S BLOG, you are on the right track!

I chose to use Pattern 12 from the Make It From the Heart Vol 4. I decided to incorporate a technique I saw just a few days ago by Michelle Loncar and then checked out the link to learn about off the edge die cuts.  I did my own twist using Punny Pals Thin Cuts.

For my card I used the Punny Pals stamp set and the thin cuts which are available again for a limited time!!! I used Saffron as the base and then Peacock from the Enchantment Fundamental Paper Pack.  I also use Charcoal cardstock and one of the patterns form the Basic Fundamental Paper Pack.  I also used the Peacock Ribbon and Grey Gems.

Here are the steps I took to make the animal strip.

Step 1 ~ I aligned the thin cuts along the 1 1/2 ” by 5 1/2″ strip.

Step 2 ~ I made my sandwich with the “B” plate on bottom then I aligned the thin metal plate and my top “B” plate.  I made sure the top plates were where I wanted the cut image to stop.

Step 3 ~ Here is what it looked like after running through my Cuttlebug

Step 4 ~ I used my trimmer and scissors to cut between the cut animal

Here is what they looked like when I stamped them.

Sarita Layout

I really love all of the paper lines in the new idea book.  I only wish I had more time to work on my scrapbooks.  I guess this is a common wish of all scrapbookers.  I was looking at the Sarita paper pack and though it would be ideal for some photos I took last year from our trip to New Orleans to visit family last year.

I will walk you through the steps I generally take when I am going to scrapbook.  I start with picking and editing the photos.  I then pick the papers I want to use with the photos.  My next step is to look for a layout inspiration.  I love the Close To My Heart how to books as these are always great stepping off point.  For this particular layout I was looking at the Make it From Your Heart Volume 2.  I will look at the Quick Reference and look for a layout that will work with the number of photos I have.  In this case there were 5 photos and the layout 10 on page 24 looked perfect.  I then set out to design my layout.

I used the awesome new stitch guide to mark my holes ant then went back with floss to add the stitching.   I have to be honest in saying this was time consuming and not something I will do on every layout but I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!

I used the Sarita My Stickease Assortment to add additional details.

I have to be honest I did not realize until after I had completed my layout that this was the same layout that was chosen for the Sarita Workshop on the Go.  I guess great creative minds think alike.  So here is another variation of the WOTG.
