Too Cute to Spook

Are you in the Halloween spirit yet?  As I have mentioned before I love this time of year and our house in in full Halloween spirit.  Yes I am one of those people who you probably think is a bit crazy… Well you may be correct, but it is just so fun and there is so much cool festive things out there to tempt me when I go out shopping.

Well I am going to share with you another Halloween layout I designed.  I decided to try something a little different.  Normally when I scrapbook I have my photos in hand.  Lately I have been running into road blocks when I am trying to put my layout together.  The most common issue is when I have found a cool layout for inspiration but I can’t make my 4×6 photos work.  I love using the CTMH How to Patterns, sketches online, and magazines for inspiration.   Generally the way I go about scrapbooking is I select the photos I wish to scrapbook and star them in Photoshop (I use this to edit and organize my photos).  I will then edit them fixing red eyes, cropping, lightening or adjusting color if needed.  I will then have them printed mostly in 4×6 but occasionally 5×7 and 8×10.

I had an idea in mind for a layout and found a sketch from PageMaps which would work well.  The layout incorporated some odd sized photos (5.5×4, 2.75×4 etc).  I have never been opposed to using photos in other sizes but it is hard to get them out of a 4×6 photo.  So this time I thought I would use Studio J using the No Limits layout to size my photographs.  I uploaded the edited photos into Studio J.   I confirmed my photos would work in the dimensions that were shown in the layout.  I cut some scrap white paper to act as place holders for my photos so I could get busy designing my layout.

This process worked really well – see for your self:

I used Laughing Lola paper pack and had one sheet of  Bazzill cardstock which I used in conjunction with the Laughing Lola purple, Lagoon, Laughing Lola gold, Gypsy, white and black cardstock.  All the creatures were cut using my Silhouette.  I then used Washi tape and the Washi Wonder stamp set as accents. I was able to get the journaling done and now all I need to do is drop the photos in when they arrive.

Stay tuned for a couple more layouts done this way. Until then happy crafting!
