Color Dare #430 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe

This week we have another Fun Color Dare Challenge for you.  This week for Color Dare #430 we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board this time it is focused around the Sweet Safari paper collection.  For this challenge you can use any diagonal, row or column, you can add in any of the other colors shown.  Blacks, Whites, Neutrals, and Metallics are FREE.

I went with the right column ~ Avocado, Canary and Bluebird. I did add a bit of Nectarine in addition to neutrals.

For this card I used several products. I used the Wood Grain Embossing folder on Daisy White Cardstock. I lightly went over the raised wood grain with Pumice Stone Oxide ink. I used the Stitched Hexagon Thin Cuts to cut the canary hexagon. The Gnome is from the Garden Gnomes Stamp and Thin Cut.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #430  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

National Scrapbooking Month

Happy National Scrapbooking Day and Month!! I’ll be it I am a bit late today in posting this since the day is almost over. But it is never late to celebrate memory keeping!! I don’t complete layout as often as I want but crafting is what calms and de-stresses me! I wanted to share a couple of layouts I completed recently.  I have been able to use some to the paper packs I have been saving for  a while.

This layout I designed using the Beary Christmas paper pack.  I am not pleased with the color exposure but I am happy how the layout turned out.

This lay out is using the Dream Big paper pack.  It is one of my favorites as is it great for boy colors!

I hope you are celebrating by getting a few layouts completed yourself.  I am getting caught up with the photos I have printed.  So soon I will need to work on photos and getting them printed so I an take the next step and get them scrapbooked.

Getting Ready for Convention

Words cannot begin to explain my excitement for this week.  I have been wanting to attend the CTMH convention since becoming a consultant in 2012.  The first year I joined I was not aware there was a convention until I started seeing consultants talk about it on Facebook.  Last year I wanted to go but was not really sure what we would do with our son since we don’t have any family local and my husband would need to work.  This fall I talked to my husband and we agreed I would go to this convention and we would have he parents come up to help.  So here we are …. My in-laws are here and I leave for Disneyland in two days!!!!  I have never been to Disneyland, since I grew up in the south we vacationed in Florida so I got to go to Disney World two times but that was 35 plus years ago.  I am a big kid at heart and always have been so I can’t wait.

So I learned over the past two years that convention goers make cards to swap and gifts for their roommates.  I completed my roommate gifts a while ago and I was trying to decide on my swap cards.  I choose Lollydoodle as it is so bright and happy.  I decided to do the hexagon flower design as my swap card.  I spoke with another consultant who has been to convention before to learn how many cards to make.  She suggested 150 – wow that is a lot of cards. I ended up making 120 which was still a ton.

I will remember for next time that the cards I make will not have as many little pieces that need to be scored.  Each card has six hexagons which each needed to be scored.  This photo is only enough to complete 25 flowers.  I has to score 720 hexagons – but I did it!

I used Cotton Candy as the base hexagon.  I used Whisper cardstock which I embossed with the dots folder.  Close to My Heart no longer carries brads so I picked some up a local craft store.

Here is the final card.  I used Joyful Birthday B1419 for the sentiment and used Cotton Candy ink.

I hope to make some great trades and meet some wonderful women.

Hexagon Flower

WOW how did we already arrive in June?  Life has been very crazy so I have not had as much time to craft as much as I have wanted too (although I always feel that 🙂 ).   I was able to sit down today and get a few things done.  I have been enjoying participating in the Color Dare and was inspired to create this card based on this weeks challenge #96.

These colors – Sorbet, Creme Brulee and Crystal Blue are the colors found in the Balloon Ride paper pack.  I have been working on my convention swap cards using this hexagon patten.

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ H

ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “H”. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “H” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY

If you came from LAUREN MOORE- CTMH CRAFTINGS  then you’re on the right track!

So the first this that popped into my head when thinking about what I wanted to design for this hop was HEXAGON.   I just love seeing hexagons in layouts and on cards.  I have been seeing a lot of hexagon overlays being used for cards so I decided to make my own.  I used my Silhouette to create the white overlay.  Then I needed to pick the colors or paper pack and since Lollydoodle makes me so HAPPY, I decided it would be perfect!

ABC's Hexagon Card
While I was working on my design for this blog hop I was inspired by Color My Heart Color Dare to create one for this weeks color dare.  This is my first version for Color Dare #88 but my actual submission can be found here.

Color Dare #89

I decided to try something new today.   I have wanting to try some other challenges out there and one I have been watching is Color Dare.  So today I decided it was time and took on Color Dare #89 which is using Juniper, Sorbet and Creme Brulee.

color dare #89

I was actually working on a project for my ABC’s Blog hop that will be happening on Saturday but I was inspire by these color choices.  Here is what I created:

Color Dare 89 - Hexagon

For this card I created a cut file on my Silhouette using the hexagons and had it cut in white.  I then cut individual hexagons.  I used the Juniper Washi tape to cover two white hexagons.  I also used the Damask embossing folder on the Sorbet hexagons then sanded them to expose the white core.

Close to My Heart products used:

  • Cardstock: Daisy White, Creme Brulee, Sorbet
  • Paper Packs: Lollydoodle
  • Ink: Creme Brulee, Sorbet
  • Embelishments: Aqua Dots
  • Stamp Set: Honeycomb

Be sure to check back on Saturday to see some other designs using hexagons.

Christmas Gifts

I was able to make a few of my Christmas gifts this year and had some fantastic christmas gift basket ideas. It was so nice to find the time to do this. I always struggle with what to get my mom. I have found the best thing is to give her is something that I have made. Then with us living so far away she enjoys creations involving our son. So I am sure this will be a hit.

For this project I used the 5″ x 7″ Hinged Display Tray.

5X7 Hinged Display Tray

I picked the “Oliver” paper by Basic Grey. I was able to use my Cricut for the first time to cut the arrow shapes and then used them with the coordinating Dimensional Elements. I also used the Irresistibles Hexagons which I absolutely LOVE!! They are so cool they way they take up ink. Then I was able to use the Tiny Type Epoxy Alphabet along with the Dimensional Elements numbers. Here is a close up:

I really love the way this display tray turned out. Now I cant wait to do one for us.
