Technique Blog Hop ~ Striped Borders

Welcome to the Striped Borders Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use striped borders. If you notice in the above photo there are several stamped border images creating a striped pattern. I used some of these and crated my own. If you are coming from BRANDI ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 makers participating in this hop.

I created my one striped borders using two stamp sets, Perfect Match and Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking. I used the Perfect Match Papers along with Candy Apple, Carolina, and Ballerina cardstock. I cut the Daisy White cardstock with the Stitched Fancy Bracket Think cut. I also used the Stitched Heart Thin Cuts along with a retired Heart thin cuts. I added a couple of the Perfect Match Mini Hearts with Silver Embellishing Thread and a bit of Pink Taffeta Stickles.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Happy Times

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our challenge is HAPPY TIMES! For me happy times are crafting and in particular scrapbooking even though I am over 4 years behind.  Another happy time for me is getting to spend time with my son.  So today I have a layout that I crated for one of our days spent together from four years ago.  It is sort of interesting that my last design team entry was also a layout that I created of this same location.  This layout is from our first trip to the Sunflower Farm.

For this layout I used the Make It From Your Heart Volume 3 ~ Pattern 25.  I made it a 8 photo page by using (2) 3 x 4 photos instead of a third 4 x 6 photo.  I used the I Heart Us paper pack to create my layout. I used the Mint cardstock as my base.

I used my Cricut to cut the sunflower and the the title.  I used Velum to stamp the I so totally love you which is from this April’s Stamp of the Month ~ Love So Sweet. I used white embossing powder and my versamark stamp pad. I also stamped a few of the butterflies for the Love So Sweet stamp set using Bluebird, Canary and Lagoon inks. I also used the Stitched Heart Thin Cuts.

I decided to add one of the Paper Pals to my layout.  I did shorten his legs so he looked more like a child.  I wanted to mirror the striped shirt my son was wearing so I actually used the shirt from the Paper Pal Gal stamp set but the shorts and shoes are from the Paper Pal Boy stamp set. I could not resist adding the cute dump truck with is from the Crusin’ to Adventure stamp set. I also used some of the stickers from I Heart Us Complements.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until April 30th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ The Wearin’ o’ the Green

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

For this Challenge we are partnering with Double Trouble. Here is how it works….
THING 1: Trouble Maker says, “Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the wearin’ o’ the green!” Dress up your project with green as the primary color. It does not have to be a St. Patty’s Day Card…celebrate any occasion.
Don’t stop here… consider Twisted Sister’s optional twist.
THING 3: Twisted Sister says “Good ole St. Paddy’s day is all about finding the Pot o’ Gold… be it in a pint o’ beer or at the end of a rainbow include a “golden touch” on your project for an added chance at our random draw.
This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble’s random prize draw if you include something gold.
THING 2: Double Dare dares you then you are eligible to link your project at Heart2Heart.” and you will receive an additional chance at the Double Trouble Random Draw.

I decided to play around with a couple of techniques to create a fun pattern for the clovers.  I will start by showing you my favorite of the cards and then break down the techniques and show you all the versions of the card.

For all of these cards I used the Swiss Dot Embossing Folder (now retired) for the base and sanded the dots to create contrast.  I used both the Thin Cuts ~ Stitched Hearts as well as the Thin Cuts ~ Basic Hearts.  I used Gold Glitter paper and the Thin Cuts ~ Stitched Square Frames. The sentiment comes from a retired stamp, Holiday Tags, since it is the only one I have that says “Happy St. Patrick’s Day.” I used the Thin Cuts~ Stitched Ovals .  The Ribbon is the New England Ivy Burlap which is on clearance right now.

The first technique I tried was to splatter yellow, blue and green watercolors onto a piece of watercolor paper. I then added water and rolled it around.  I do apologize as I forgot to take a photo of the paper when it dried.

The second technique I tried was to splatter yellow, blue, and green on the All Purpose Mat, then I spritz the mat with water.  Next I smooched the watercolor paper onto the mat.  The photo on the right is how it turned out.

These are how the above technique cards turned out.  The one of the left is the second technique and the one on the right is the first technique.  For these cards I used the Gold Fold paper and White and Gold Ribbon.

The last technique I tried was the shaving cream technique.  I used reinker in the shaving cream, I first started with a simple mixing of the ink in the upper right corner. It did not give me the coverage I hoped so I mixed the reinker more in the shaving cream.

These are the two versions with the shaving cream technique.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31 to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Sew What?! – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 13 of us highlighting Sewing techniques,  This can be using our dies that have stitching, stamp sets that have stitching, using pens to create stitching or using your sewing machine to create the stitched look.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from KIMBERLY BOWERS BLOG, you are on the right track!

As irony would have it I planned to used my stitched dies to crate my card; however, I cannot for the live of me find my “C” plate to my Cuttlebug.  I went to Hobby Lobby, Michaels and even Walmart but no one carries it. UGH!!!!! So what do you do improvise… I started using different pieces of cardboard to see if I could create the right size shim. Thankfully I was able to find a good combination.  Now I am just waiting on Amazon to send my my new one.

I used the new Love of Color how to book.  I used the color combination Ruby, Pebble, Peacock, and Sugarplum.  I used the love from the Artbooking Cartridge. The “you” came from Colorful Texture Stamp set.  I used the Stitched Heart thin cuts and then used my black pen to create a stitched look.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto ANNEMARIE JULIAN’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork highlighting the Masking!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!
