Trick or Treat

Well tomorrow I am off to host my first 12 hour crop.  It will be a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to some time with friends and doing what I love ~ Crafting.  Here is what I designed as a little gift for coming.

Moonlight treat boxes

I used my Silhouette to cut the treat box and tags.  I actually designed the box by taking elements from of two different designs and making it what I wanted.  I then backed the cut away with Moonlight paper.   I love the Magic Potions stamp set and knew this was the perfect idea for them. I used a masking technique to be create the multiple ink effect on the tags.  The treat tubes are just perfect for this project.

Too Cute to Spook

Are you in the Halloween spirit yet?  As I have mentioned before I love this time of year and our house in in full Halloween spirit.  Yes I am one of those people who you probably think is a bit crazy… Well you may be correct, but it is just so fun and there is so much cool festive things out there to tempt me when I go out shopping.

Well I am going to share with you another Halloween layout I designed.  I decided to try something a little different.  Normally when I scrapbook I have my photos in hand.  Lately I have been running into road blocks when I am trying to put my layout together.  The most common issue is when I have found a cool layout for inspiration but I can’t make my 4×6 photos work.  I love using the CTMH How to Patterns, sketches online, and magazines for inspiration.   Generally the way I go about scrapbooking is I select the photos I wish to scrapbook and star them in Photoshop (I use this to edit and organize my photos).  I will then edit them fixing red eyes, cropping, lightening or adjusting color if needed.  I will then have them printed mostly in 4×6 but occasionally 5×7 and 8×10.

I had an idea in mind for a layout and found a sketch from PageMaps which would work well.  The layout incorporated some odd sized photos (5.5×4, 2.75×4 etc).  I have never been opposed to using photos in other sizes but it is hard to get them out of a 4×6 photo.  So this time I thought I would use Studio J using the No Limits layout to size my photographs.  I uploaded the edited photos into Studio J.   I confirmed my photos would work in the dimensions that were shown in the layout.  I cut some scrap white paper to act as place holders for my photos so I could get busy designing my layout.

This process worked really well – see for your self:

Too Cute to Spook Layout

I used Laughing Lola paper pack and had one sheet of  Bazzill cardstock which I used in conjunction with the Laughing Lola purple, Lagoon, Laughing Lola gold, Gypsy, white and black cardstock.  All the creatures were cut using my Silhouette.  I then used Washi tape and the Washi Wonder stamp set as accents. I was able to get the journaling done and now all I need to do is drop the photos in when they arrive.

Stay tuned for a couple more layouts done this way. Until then happy crafting!

ABC Blog Hop ~ S

557472_10151400024099359_81558085_n

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “S”. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “S” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber’s blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

If you came from Amber’s blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy then you’re on the right track!

“S” is for Spooky, Slate, Sunset and Spellbound Paper.  I found the Spellbound paper on the While Supplies Last and scooped it up as it would be great for Halloween.  Since Halloween is spooky what could be better than design a fun spooky layout.  I used Sunset cardstock as my base and black and Slate cardstock for the interest .

Spellbound EEK Layout_left

I found a lot of great Halloween shapes to use with my Silhouette. When is saw the flourish spider webs I knew they would be great in the corner.  The EEK was cut using the Diploma font. For those of you not familiar with a Silhouette you can take any font and cut it with your Silhouette which makes it wonderful for titles – no more half used alphabets.

Spellbound EEK Layout_Right

I saw the spider web frame but it was not exactly what I wanted so I was able to edit it before I cut it out.

Here is the complete layout – I cant wait to get my photos printed and added.

Halloween Frame

I know I keep mentioning how much I love this time of year but I really do.  Halloween is probably my most favorite holiday as it is so fun to decorate for.  I have been pulling out all my decorations and now my home is beginning to feel a bit spooky.  I decided I needed to create a Halloween frame that I could display each year and showcase a photo from the previous year.  The Close to My Heart My Creations Frame is perfect for this.   I have to admit I was a bit sad there was no official Halloween paper this year from CTMH.  However I knew I would think of something, and the Huntington paper is very fall like.  The Huntington paper worked out wonderfully as it was a great neutral and allow me to have fun with the cut outs which pop against it. You can be the judge….

Halloween Frame

I did use Moonlight paper to create the rosette in the top left corner. But otherwise I used Black, Slate, Goldrush and Smokey Plum Cardstock.  I used my Silhouette to cut the cauldron, cat and Halloween.

Halloween Card

I participate in a card swap with my local MOMS Club.  We organize it every two months and it has been a lot of fun.  We have an average of 8 participants and the cards are always super cute.  This month we are doing Halloween theme cards.  I love Halloween and am so excited to see all the cards that will be created.  I decided to share mine. Today we are swapping them so I will not be giving anything away.

Halloween Card Swap

For this card I used CTMH paper along with some other Halloween paper I had.  I used gypsy, goldrush and whisper cardstock.  The stamped images are  from a couple stamp sets Wicked (a retired stamp set), All Hallows Eve, and Moonlight WOTG (a retired stamp set).  I decided it needed a bit of glitz so I added Stickles to add the glitter.  I used purple, yellow and black Stickles.

Happy crafting,
