Technique Hop – “Inky Fingers”

Welcome to the Inky Fingers Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use inks. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 12 makers participating in this hop.

I played around with resist and oxide inks. I used the Distressed Watercolor paper and then used VersaMark ink with the snowflakes from the Elegant Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts. I then used White Embossing Powder on the snowflakes.

For this card I sponged on the Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire on over the embossed snowflakes. I then used my spray bottle and my stencil I created to use with the bokeh with a wet paper towel. I placed the stencil over the cardstock and then dabbed the wet paper towel to create the circles. Then using the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut to frame the cardstock. I then used the spray bottle to add the variation on size. I then added a 3/4 inch strip of velum. I then used the Yuletide Borders with Silver Foil Papers.

With this card I repeated the first steps with VersaMark ink, Snowflakes, and Distressed Watercolor Cardstock. This time using I stamped the Oxide inks on my All Purpose mat. I then spritzed with water and then smooshed the cardstock on to the paper and drying using my heating tool. I repeated this process adding layers of color. This time I used Vellum and Black Cardstock with the Yuletide Borders.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

I designed two cards which were a snap to put together as they were cut using the Comfort and Joy Circut collection.

I cut the Deck the Halls using the Scarlet Glitter Paper. I backed it with the holly paper from the Comfort and Joy Paper Pack. There are a couple of small circles in each of the corners that I filled with Black Onyx Liquid Pearls. I use the holly leaf stamp which is from the Exclusive Album Retreat stamp set. I stamped the leaf in Avocado ink on Avocado. I had cut and added some Christmas Red Stickles to make the holly.

For this version I used Scarlet Cardstock to cut the Deck the Halls. I backed it with one of the papers from the Seasonal Mix-in paper. I used the same stamp for the holly leaves and Christmas Red Stickles for the holly. For the circles I used the Christmas Red Stickles and the Silver Stickles.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Stencil It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the challenge is Stencil It. You may come up with another idea but using a stencil to add color or texture to your artwork. You may create your own stencil or use one that you purchased. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project. Be sure to clearly indicate what product you used.

I have been having so much fun playing with the new Stencils that Close to My Heart just released. I only have Stencil pack #1 but the others are on orders.

I used Candy Apple Oxide Ink on Evergreen paper. I then decided to add Nebula Stickles Gel over the stencil to add the gold look. I used the new Stitched Scalloped Thin Cuts for the sentiment. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I added a bit more gold with the Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Embellishing Thread.

Here you can see the beautiful effect of the Nebula Stickle Gel.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This weeks challenge is anything goes – holiday edition. Have fun sharing a holiday project with us. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your creation.

I have been wanting to get back to scrapbooking so I took this opportunity to create a holiday layout. I used the Cedar & Pine papers. I used the Make it from your Heart Volume 3, pattern 2 for my layout.

Here is the left side with my photos. The title is a Cricut cut that I cut in mirror so that the white edges were not as apparent. The Flower and branches are also Cricut cuts from Flower Market.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until December 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

I have been on a kick using the Cedar & Pine – Cardmaking Stamp Set and Thin Cuts. I really love this nutcracker!! With the ability to change mustaches, hats, add a drum, and even ink color for the hair. You can watercolor him or use markers. I went with watercolors. I stamped him in black pigment ink then used clear embossing powder. The tree is from Complete Creativity and was cut using both sided of Evergreen cardstock.

I then used the Gold Embellishing Thread to wrap around the tree. I then created ornaments with Stickles, I used Christmas Red, Green, and Golden Rod.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Anything Goes

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week is a simple challenge….Anything Goes!! This means you can submit anything! Simply use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project and you are good to go!

I had a lot of request for a tag workshop so I have been creating a few tags to add to my monthly Card Workshop. I may even add an extra day so people to come make holiday cards and tags.

I love the Like Nobody Elf stamp and thin cut that is part of the Holly Jolly Cardmaking Workshop. The elf makes the perfect tag. I used my markers to color, but since the markers bleed through I cut a second elf and glued to back to hid the marker bleed. I also added a bit of sparkle with Diamond Stickles.

I am also loving the For the Tree stamp set with the coordinating Custom Ornament Thin Cuts. I used Gold Tinsel, Silver Tinsel, Red Tinsel, and Clear Embossing Powders.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 12 consultants participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I used the Digital cuts that are included with the HOLIDAY CHEER special to cut the snow globe out of the Silver Foil Paper. The Sapphire cardstock was embossed with the new Snowflake Embossing Folder. I also used the Holiday Trimming Stamp Set to stamp the Happy Holidays. I used White Pigment ink and then used White Embossing power. I did do this prior to using the snowflake embossing folder. I then wrapped Silver Embellishing Thread around the bottom. I used the Whimsical Holiday stamp set with Bluebird, Carolina and Sapphire inks to stamp the stars and snowflakes. I mixed the blue sequins from the Loose Craft On and Silver Sequins.

I also made up a few of the tag/ornaments as the special intended. I love that there is a variety of options with this special.

I had to make one as an ornament of my son. I love that this can be the perfect gift for a grandparent one just for us to hang on our tree. I picked out some of the red sequins from the Holiday Loose Sequins and mixed with Silver Sequins.

Here is another with the Gold Sequins and Gold Glitter Paper.

Here is one more. I used the Dark Red Marker to color the base then went over it with the Red Shimmer Brush.

National Scrapbooking Month

Happy National Scrapbooking Day and Month!! I’ll be it I am a bit late today in posting this since the day is almost over. But it is never late to celebrate memory keeping!! I don’t complete layout as often as I want but crafting is what calms and de-stresses me! I wanted to share a couple of layouts I completed recently.  I have been able to use some to the paper packs I have been saving for  a while.

This layout I designed using the Beary Christmas paper pack.  I am not pleased with the color exposure but I am happy how the layout turned out.

This lay out is using the Dream Big paper pack.  It is one of my favorites as is it great for boy colors!

I hope you are celebrating by getting a few layouts completed yourself.  I am getting caught up with the photos I have printed.  So soon I will need to work on photos and getting them printed so I an take the next step and get them scrapbooked.

Everything ABC’s Blog Hop ~ Letter Y

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!!!

ABC's Blog BadgeThis week we will be featuring the letter “Y”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Y” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LAUREN MOORE’S BLOG then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating consultants at the bottom of this post.

So for my “Y” I chose Yuletide which is an archaic term for Christmas. So I went with a Christmas card.  I have been wanting to use the Wreath Thin Cut so I thought this would be the prefect opportunity.

abcs-y-yuletide-wreath-christmas-cheer-catscrapbooking-comI wanted the wreath to pop a bit more so I tried rolling the stamp in Fern and New England Ivy before I stamped it.  It looked good but I wanted more color so I decided to color my leaves!

Now it is time to hop on over to JENIFER BENNER’S BLOG and see what she has created for you today.

Everything ABC’s ~ X

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “X”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “X” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LINDA NORMAN’S Blog then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

The letter “X” is especially challenging when you are trying to thing of how it can relate to crafting so I am going to stretch it a bit.  I have been working on items for the craft fair I am participating in which is today ~ EEK.  I have been so busy preparing and hoping things will sell well as this is the first time I have done one.  Anyway, I have been working on holiday goodies and since Christmas is some times shortened to X-Mas, I am going to go with that as my “X” element.  Along with the eXcitement that has been building for this Craft Fair.  Now for my project:Animal Greetings ~ Holiday Treat Topper ~ Cat

Here is a close up of each of the animals.Moose Treat Topper ~ Animal Greetings ~ CatScrapbooking.com

Racoon Holiday Treat Topper ~ Animal Greetings ~ CatScrapbooking.com

Bear Holiday Treat topper ~ Animal Greetings ~ CatScrapbooking.com

I so love those cute little critters on the Operation Smile Stamp Set Animal Greeting D1679.  Not only is the stamp set just adorable with every stamp set sold CTMH will donate $7 to Operation Smile!!!  I wanted to make them festive for the holidays so I cut little Santa hats for them.  I did this using a SVG file with my Silhouette.  I used Momento ink to stamp the moose, raccoon and bear on the watercolor paper circles.  Then I used the watercolors to color them.  I found these 1X8″ plastic sleeves which I filled with M&M’s and tied them on using some ribbon.  I just think they are adorable and hope the shoppers do too.

Now it is time to hop on over to DONNA LONG’S Blog and see what she has created for you today.
