We would love for you to participate in our challenge. Just remember to use at least one Close to My Heart product!

I went with the Kitchen Gnomes which is a stamp and thin cut collection in our March/April Idea book. I actually colored all these gnomes back in March but they have ben sitting on my table waiting to be put to use. I paired them with some papers that are current but most are from previous Idea Books.

For the guys gnomes I used the Candy Apple patterned paper from the current Seasonal Mix-in Collection. The Sapphire pattern is from the July/August 2020 Seasonal Mix-in Collection which is in the online only section. The Evergreen pattern paper is from our January/February 2020 seasonal mix-ins. For all of these cards I used the Birthday Borders stamp set and thin cuts. I also used the Black & White dots. I used White Pigment ink and White embossing Powder on the sentiments. The blue embossed sentiment is something pretty old…. I used the Outdoor Denim embossing powder, which was around when I started with CTMH almost 10 years ago.

For the girl gnomes, the card design is based off one by designed by Laura’s Creative Pages, which I saw on Instagram. I added the whisk stamp and thin cut from the Eat Play Love Cardmaking set. For these cards I used the Lagoon pattern paper from the Seasonal Mix-in collection. The Peach pattern paper is from our January/February 2020 seasonal mix-ins. The Purple patten paper is form the In This Together Special which just ended in March. I added one of the White Flower Sequins to the chef hats.

Technique Blog Hop ~ It’s Faux

Welcome to the It’s Faux Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use striped borders. If you notice in the above photo there are several stamped border images creating a striped pattern. I used some of these and crated my own. If you are coming from BRANDI ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 13 makers participating in this hop.

I designed two cards for you. One using the faux wood tiles of the Letter Tiles Stamp and Thin Cuts. The other is using the wood grain papers.

I used the flower stencil from Stencil Pack 1 with Peacock Feathers Oxide Ink. I then sprayed with two of the Lime Green and Cheddar Gloss Spray. I used the Letter Tiles Stamp and Thin Cuts on Almond Cardstock. I used Toffee and Black Ink. I added a couple of the Wood Hearts which I colored with Mustard Seed Oxide ink.

With this card, I used a technique that Brenda Rose showed to fellow makers to apply ink to the wood grain papers. I used the Seedless preserves on one of the wood grain paper. I used Pewter as the base. The flowers are from the Every Bit of Wonderful stamp set. The flowers and leaves were fussy cut. I used the Scalloped Stitched Bracket Thin Cut for the sentiment. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the On Your Birthday Stamp Set

March/April Catalog New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the New Product Blog Hop for the March – April Idea Book.

Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop. For this hop we are featuring artwork using products from the new March-April Idea Book. I am sure you will find a wide variety of inspirations on this hop.

If you are just arriving here from MELINDA EVERITT’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 20 consultants participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I decided to use the super cute cookoo clock stamp set called Around the Clock stamp set. I used the coordinating Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts. I used the Love of Color book to help me pick my colors. I started with Sweet Leaf and added Peacock, Saffron, Linen and Mink. I wanted to make this a birthday card and love the sentiment “a little birdie told me” and wanted it’s your birthday. So I used my computer and typed what I wanted then ran some linen cardstock through my printer and cut it to the size I wanted. I added a couple of gold gems.

Here is a quick video to show you the card.

Heart 2 Heart ~ So Punny

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we have a new challenge for you ~ SO PUNNY! There are so many clever phrases that are puns on words that are out there. You may come up with your own interpretation of this challenge. For me, stamp sets that are plays on words associated with animals comes to mind. So this is the way I proceeded.

I pulled a retired paper from Fresh Air paper collection. I used the Stitched Square Frame to cut the New England Ivy. I used Black Pigment ink to stamp the sentiment and then used clear embossing powder. I use a sponge to add Carolina ink to make the background. The stamp set I used is from Technique Tuesday called Chameleon Friends. I also used a bit of White Burlap Ribbon. I colored the snake and branch with my markers.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

H2H ~ Texture It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

I love this concept of texture!!! The possibilities are numerous!! It could be adding using heat embossing, dry embossing, layering paper, using ribbon, texture paste…. the possibilities are endless. I love using stencils and texture paste, although I don’t do it as much as I would like to, but plan to do more!!

To create this card I used a couple of our Stitched Rectangular Thin Cuts. I chose Canary, Black and White Daisy Cardstock. The stamp set is Country Bee which was sold with a coordinating Thin Cut; however, the thin cut is no longer available but the stamp is.

I created the stencil with my Cricut and the Stencil Sheets. I used the Opaque Matte Texture Paste with a couple drops of Canary Re-Inker to make it yellow. Once this had dried I then cut the smaller rectangle. I colored the bee with our Tri-Blend Markers. The sentiment is from A Birthday in Watercolor Stamp Set.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until February 29th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

H2H ~ Say it with Flowers

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

Flowers… There are so many ways to use them in our projects. This month there is a wonderful Stamp of the Month that has a fantastic bouquet of flowers. Also we have many papers that have featured flowers like the Celebrate Today papers. Then there are a plethora of flowers we can cut on our Cricuts. The possibilities are endless. What will you create? Just remember you must use at least on Close to My Heart product in you project.

I have been playing around with the double point cards. They are really fun and easy to make. I started with a base in Pixie which is 4.25″ x 5.5″. The next layer is Daisy White which is 4″ x 5.25″. The points are using the Celebrate Today papers are 3″ x 4″, which get scored at one inch along the 3″ side. Then I put a notch at 2″ along the 4″ side. I then folded the points in to make the points. I glued the 1″ scored section to the back of the Daisy White. I cut the frames for the sentiment and the flower with my Cricut. The frame is from Artistry and the Flower is from Complete Creativity. The sentiment is a Birthday Greeting which has been retired.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until February 29th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Mountain Bike Birthday Card

So tomorrow is my husband’s birthday and I have been laid out with the crud for four days. I totally forgot to get the ingredients at the store when I when on Monday since that is when I started to crash. Thankfully I spent a bit of time on Sunday to make his birthday card!!

My husband loves to Mountain Bike so I wanted to design a card around his passion. I had this idea to make it a slider style card and then realized as I was cutting the pieces it may be hard with the bike tires being open. So I added the brown circle to the front tire to help make it move. I cut the trees and mountains using my Cricut.

The quote is perfect for him and is from a retired stamp set. I sponged the background with Bluebird, then spritzed with Close to My Heart’s stamp cleaner. I am excited to give this card to him and hope that I will be back in the land of the living again soon.
