H2H ~ Say it with Flowers

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

Flowers… There are so many ways to use them in our projects. This month there is a wonderful Stamp of the Month that has a fantastic bouquet of flowers. Also we have many papers that have featured flowers like the Celebrate Today papers. Then there are a plethora of flowers we can cut on our Cricuts. The possibilities are endless. What will you create? Just remember you must use at least on Close to My Heart product in you project.

I have been playing around with the double point cards. They are really fun and easy to make. I started with a base in Pixie which is 4.25″ x 5.5″. The next layer is Daisy White which is 4″ x 5.25″. The points are using the Celebrate Today papers are 3″ x 4″, which get scored at one inch along the 3″ side. Then I put a notch at 2″ along the 4″ side. I then folded the points in to make the points. I glued the 1″ scored section to the back of the Daisy White. I cut the frames for the sentiment and the flower with my Cricut. The frame is from Artistry and the Flower is from Complete Creativity. The sentiment is a Birthday Greeting which has been retired.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until February 29th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Mountain Bike Birthday Card

So tomorrow is my husband’s birthday and I have been laid out with the crud for four days. I totally forgot to get the ingredients at the store when I when on Monday since that is when I started to crash. Thankfully I spent a bit of time on Sunday to make his birthday card!!

My husband loves to Mountain Bike so I wanted to design a card around his passion. I had this idea to make it a slider style card and then realized as I was cutting the pieces it may be hard with the bike tires being open. So I added the brown circle to the front tire to help make it move. I cut the trees and mountains using my Cricut.

The quote is perfect for him and is from a retired stamp set. I sponged the background with Bluebird, then spritzed with Close to My Heart’s stamp cleaner. I am excited to give this card to him and hope that I will be back in the land of the living again soon.

New Product Blog Hop ~ January – February

Welcome to the New Product Blog Hop for the January – February Idea Book.

Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop. For this hop we are featuring artwork using products from the new January-February Idea Book. I am sure you will find a wide variety of inspirations on this hop.

If you are just arriving here from KIM LOEWEN’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 20 consultants participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I love the I Chews You gum-ball machine image and knew I wanted to make a birthday card with it. So here is what I came up with. I used the I Chews You Stamp set and thin cuts along with the Say It in Style stamp set for the sentiments around the spinner. The pattern paper is the Seasonal Mix in.

I used a punch from my stash that was 1/2″ to make the gumballs in Pixie, Clover, Bluebird, Candy Apple, and Lemonade, but it could be done with a Cricut as well. I also used the Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts.

I fussy cut the base of the gum-ball machine. In order to line up the opening on the base I used the negative from the base and then laid the Card Front over it.

I have to admit I have struggled getting the spinner part stamped the way I think it should look. I want the spin me to be showing when there is a sentiment showing in the window and an arrow when if I use something else. So I came up with this template.

I was able to mark where I would like the spin me or arrow to go in relation to where I will stamp. I then took this one off and placed the one I plan to stamp on the paper.

It worked perfectly!!!

For the inside I used the Birthday Greetings stamp set and added a couple of gum-balls.

Your next stop is along this hop is MELINDA EVERITT’S Blog  so hop on over and see what wonderful creation she has for you today.

Technique Hop – Pocket Power!

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on Pockets… Close to My Heart has a wide variety of pockets protectors, flip flaps and our Stories by Stacy.  I love flip flaps as they are an easy way to add more photos to a layout.  I also love the Pocket Plus protectors as they enable you to add more photos.  There are around 8 of us participating in the Pocket Power Hop.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from KATY TAYLOR’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I decided to focus on Flip Flaps but with a twist.  I used a 4×6 flip flap to make a shaker card.

I started by random stamping the White Daisy cardstock.  I used Pixie, Lemon, Emerald, Bluebird, Carolina, and Thistle.

I used a post-it note to mask off the balloons as I stamped.  The balloons are from Party Balloons Stamp Set.

After stamping I cut the letters and decided the 4×6 flip flap would work best. I used Thin Cut Block Alphabet to cut the happy.

I trimmed the flip flap and then used foam tape around the perimeter of the flip flap.  Added some of the Crafty Loose sequins.  I decided to use Thistle behind the flip flap to add a bit more color. The birthday is also from the Party Balloons Stamp Set and was stamped on Carolina cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork using our Pockets!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Technique Time with Heart 2 Heart

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This challenge is to give Stamped Backgrounds a try. Stamped Backgrounds are a great way to put your own spin on your design by creating your own pattern paper. Here is my card and then I will walk you through my steps to get here.

I love the dinosaurs which go with the Something Fierce Paper Pack. I love the pattern paper with the dinosaurs that come with the paper pack but I wanted to create my own with the cute dinosaur that comes with the Something Fierce Cardmaking Stamp Set. I used the Largest Circle Thin Cut and largest Stitched Circle Thin Cut. I also added the scallop border from Decorative Border Thin Cuts.

I started with the largest image, the dinosaurs and then stamped in a triangle shape with each color. I used Carolina, Bluebird, Lemon, and Willow.  I then used Pewter ink and stamped the confetti in the blank spots.

I also added a bit of random stamping to the stamping to the stitched circle.

I wanted to add a little extra to make the green dinosaur pop, so I added liquid glass and then fussy cut it.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until January 31st to participate in this challenge or any of our January Challenges.
