Color Dare #358 ~Back to School Inspirational Photo

Happy Friday!! Have your kids gone back to school?! Mine started back Aug 14th and this momma has been spending lots of time in my craft room!  This week for Color Dare #358 we have a great Inspiration Photo – Back to School. Pick colors that you see in the photo and BLACK , WHITE and NEUTRALS are free!

Since I have a school age kiddo, I took this opportunity to create a scrapbook layout. I designed this page for my son’s second year of Pre-School which was a few years ago.

I used a couple of different paper packs- Into the Wild, Something Fierce, and Prickly Pear. I also used several of our cardstocks, Black, Charcoal, Clover, Canary, Bluebird, Pebble, Candy Apple, and White Daisy. I used several Cricut cuts for the title, crayon border, stars, and ruler. I also used two Close to My Heart stamp sets – Making the Grade and School Kids (which is retired).

The lines are from the Making the Grade stamp set and stamped in White Pigment Ink on Black cardstock. I used my new Shammy to clean my stamps. The ruler and the crayon border are both cut using my Cricut. The apple is also from the Making the Grade and then I used Liquid Glass to make it shinny.

Speaking or shammies…. Here is little preview of our new shammies! By the way I LOVE these things!!! It is a total must have!!

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #358 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~ On the Border

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This weeks challenge theme is ON THE BORDER.  For this challenge you can interpret this in any way you see fit. The first thing I  thought about was using some border stamps or possibly our thin cuts.  Here is what I created.

I had this idea to design a back to school card for my son to give to his teacher on the first day of school.  I really love the stamp set Making the Grade and wanted to create with it. I love the writing lines stamp and had an idea to use this border stamp as the main focus.  I stamped it on Lemon, Willow, Bluebird, Candy Apple, and Nectarine Cardstock.  I also love the cute pencil, ruler and apple. I stamped these then fussy cut them and colored with my alcohol markers.  I then used my Silver Sequins and created a shaker.  I love how easy it is to create a shaker as you simply need Shaker Foam & Acetate and Thin Cut Shaker Window & Confetti.

I am also linking up with a couple challenges this week:

Double Trouble Challenge ~ for their Something Anything Challange.

Simon Says Challenge ~ Bright and Cheerful

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until August 3rd to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

I am so pleased the way it turned out.

I did pull in one retired stamp set to create the pencils.

I used the You’ve Got Class Workshop to make my layout. I used both of the stamp sets You’ve Got Class and School Kids Stamp and Thin Cuts.

Here it is with this year’s photo.

That pencil totally caught my eye, so my card centered around the pencil image.  My son is starting kindergarten this year and though this may be a great card to give him on his first day. Hard to believe school starts in just three weeks.

For this card I used the new Enchanted Fundamental Papers.  I used my shinhan markers to color the pencils.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of March and if you spend $50 on qualifying product it could be yours for $5!!

First Day of School ~ Preschool

Well Gavin will be going to Preschool 4 days a week starting this morning.  He seems excited after going to the meet and greet with his teachers.  He has one of the same teachers he had last year so that will be helpful.  I am excited he will be going four days as I will then get TWO hours four days a week that are mine!!! Granted I will have household things to take care of but I hope to get a few more hours of crafting!!!

I love seeing all the first day of school chalkboard signs and there are a lot of them out there which are free.  But I decided I wanted to create my own.  So I went to PicMonkey and it was easy. Check out my sign for Gavin to hold for his photos.Gavin's first day of school 2015-16 ~ catscrapbooking I was quite pleased the way it turned out.

Artbooking Made Easy ~ Back to School

Well another school year has begun.  I know my day of scrapbooking Gavin’s first days of school will be here sooner than I want them to be.  I know many of you have kids who are starting a new year and new journeys and you will want to preserve those memories.  The best way we know to do this is to scrapbook them.   Using the new Artbooking cartridge will make beautiful layouts for your student.
