Technique Hop – Interactive Elements

Welcome to the Technique Hop!!

This month we are exploring techniques using some of the interactive items that Close to My Heart offers. The two interactive elements that come to mind for me are the Waterfall Thin Cuts and the Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 9 makers participating in this hop.

I designed two cards for you one using Waterfall Thin Cuts and the other using the Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts. I will show each to you in greater detail.

For this card I used a pattern paper from Wander for the background. I used the adorable Jawsome Birthday set with Carolina, Sapphire and Charcoal ink. I added a bit of Mink Twine and Steel Stickles.

Here is the card using the Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts.

For this card I used the Seasonal Mix-in for the background. I used the Desserts à la Whirl Stamp and thin cut. Here is how it works.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto BRANDI ROBINSON’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

Color Dare #452 ~ Candy Apple, Glacier, & Lemonade

Welcome to Friday!! Friday means we have another Color Dare Challenge for you. This week for Color Dare #452 we have a three color challenge for you ~ Candy Apple, Glacier, and Lemonade. Black and White are Free along with Silver.

I have been busy with summer plans ~ mostly entertaining my son since he is out of school, so I have not found as much time to get into my craft room. I have had these new products from Honey Bee Stamps sitting in my craft room untouched… gasp!!! Well I was determined to use them for this project.

I love this Cone Flower die, but to be honest making the stem and leaves Glacier, and not a shade of green, is sort of hard for me. I am pleased the way it turned out. I used the Stitched Lattice Background Thin Cut for the base. I then created my own stem of the flower by fussy cutting. I used the Stitched Oval Thin Cut for the sentiment. The Sentiment if also from Honey Bee Stamps ~ Fresh Flowers. I added a couple of Silver Glitter Gems for bling.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #452  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. You can also link up via Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr and  other forums. For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~ It’s a Banner Day!

Welcome to Heart 2 Heart’s first challenge of July!! I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend!

For this challenge we are encouraging you to use banners, pennants or flags in your design. I decided to design a layout using lots of banners.

I used some Almond cardstock as my base page. I used one of the pattern papers from the new Wander collection, the rest of the pattern papers come from the new Seasonal Mix-Ins, except for the New England Ivy pattern paper, it is from a prior seasonal mix-in July/August. I also used French Vanilla, Sapphire, and New England Ivy cardstock.

I wanted to add a bit of interest to my Almond cardstock so I used one of the stencils in Stencil Pack 3 with a distressed oxide in, Brushed Corduroy. I added some of the Wooden Stars and a bit of the Steel Stickles. I used my Cricut to cut the title.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. Did you know you can link your projects from Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, and many other platforms using the url link to your design. You have until JULY 31th, 2021 to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #451 ~ Crazy 8s

Welcome to Friday!! Fridays mean it is time for another fun challenge from Color Dare! This week we for Challenge #451 have a Crazy 8’s Challenge for you. This means you will choose at least 4 of the 8 blocks shown in the image below. Blacks and White are free.

I decided to go with Sapphire, Candy Apple, New England Ivy, Smoothie, Grey, Embellishments, plus Black and White.

I am totally on the Gnome obsessive list. I am loving our new gnome stamp set ~ Chillin with My Gnomies stamp and thin cuts. I colored my Gnome with my markers that matched Sapphire, Candy Apple, New England Ivy, Smoothie (for the pigment of skin but use my blender pen to subtract color) and Grey. I stamped the star from this stamp set on the hat to add more details. I stamped a few fire works to work with the star background paper which is from a retired Seasonal Mix-in. I added a bit of glitter and embellishment with the Steel Stickles Glue.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #451  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. Welcome to the July Stamp of the Month blog hop!!

If you are coming here from WENDY KESSLER’S Blog, then you are in the right spot ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating Makers on Melinda’s blog HERE.  This month we have around 18 Makers participating this month so you are sure to be inspired.

I saw a cute card that was called a bridge card and thought it would be fun for this stamp set.

For this card I used a piece of Sage Cardstock that is 4 1/4″ x 8″. I then scored each end at 1 1/4″ and again at 2 1/2″. I added two panels cut from the Seasonal Mix-in. to the front. I cut the square with the Stitched Square Thin Cuts. I stamped the house on the stitched square and colored it with my markers.

Here is what it looks like when you start to open the card.

Here is the card open. I cut the heart with my Cricut. I inked the edge of the heart with toffee ink and stamped the keys in toffee. I did fussy cut them. I added a couple of the Gold Glitter gems for a bit of bling.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of JULY. Heart 2 Heart ~ Let’s Hear it for the Boys

Welcome to another Heart to Heart Challenge!

For this challenge we are celebrating the boys. This may be your son, husband, father or any other guy in you life. I decided to do a layout of my son.

I used the new Make it from Your Heart Volume 5. I went with pattern 3 and used larger photos. I used Almond, Toffee, Sapphire, and Scarlet cardstocks. I pulled one of the pattern papers form a past seasonal mix-in and one form the current Seasonal Mix-In. I did use one of the stickers form the Stars & Sparklers. I used some of the Wood Stars some of which I colored with the Toffee Shimmer Brush. I also splattered the Almond base with the shimmer brush.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. Color Dare #449 ~ Purple + 2 colors

Welcome to another Color Dare Challenge! This week we are featuring my favorite color purple. For Color Dare #449 we have shades of purple + two colors of you choice. Black and White are free but not part of the 2 color choice.

I played around with ink and colored pencils. I created two cards identical cards but colored them differently.

So here are the two cards individually.

I started with embossing the white cardstock with a honeycomb embossing folder. I then used my markers to color. I then used Versamark ink to stamp the sentiment and then using white embossing powder to heat emboss. I used Busy Bees stamp set and dies. I used the Bright Bitty Beads to accent the centers of the flowers.

For this card everything is the same. I only changed the medium to color the flowers and bees.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #449 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. Technique Hop – “Here Comes the Sun!”

Welcome to the Technique Hop!!

This month we are exploring techniques using Oxide Inks. I have a couple of techniques using Oxide Inks that I want to share with you. As you hop around you will see some fun ways to incorporate these oxide inks into your artwork. If you are coming from WENDY KESSLER’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 13 makers participating in this hop.

I love the new Sunburst thin cut!! I love the look of the sunburst but sometimes struggle to make them, with this die you can cut a rainbow of colors and then mix and match to make multiple cards.

For the Mountain sunrise card, I welded two circuit mountains plus a rectangle to create my own mountain scene. I stamped the sentiment with the Months of the Year ~ June stamp set. Adding a 1″ circle which was inked in Mustard Seed Oxide Ink and cut with the Circle Thin Cuts. I added a bit of bling with the Gold Loose Sequins.

For this card I used the same sentiment from the Months of the Year ~ June stamp set. I also pulled the Flip Flops from this stamp set for the accent. I stamped in Intense Black ink, then I colored the Y strap with my pink metallic pen and then added Pink Taffeta Stickles. I colored the base of the flip flop with my markers.

This card is the same as above, the only difference is the color of the the flip flop. I used my metallic marker to soften the black on the y strap and then went over with Cool Mint Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

Color Dare #448 ~ Love of Color

Welcome to another challenge with Color Dare! For Challenge #448 we have our Love of Color challenge. Choose at least three of the colors for your project. Black, White, and Gold are FREE.

I went for all the colors except Charcoal. I love the Hillside Cottage Card Making Workshop, so I decided to recreate one of the cards using these colors.

I love that these patterns can be recreated with other colors and papers. I used a retired Seasonal Mix in for the peach. The sage is from Hillside Cottage papers. I used Dessert Rose to sponge behind the flowers on the White Cardstock.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #447  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.
