Double Trouble Crazy Cousin Guest Designer Challenge #84 ~ Let the Troubles Begin

This month I was asked to be the Crazy Cousin Guest Designer at Double Trouble. This is my second challenge, Challenge #84.

Thing 1:  Trouble Maker says, “Did you know that May 18th is “No Dirty Dishes Day”? This special day encourages people to take a break from doing dishes for the day and spend the time saved doing things for FUN.  So, let’s keep your sink happy, use paper products and do your part by saying NO dirty dishes today!

So… for FUN use some patterned paper from your stash and create an any-occasion girly girl project.” You can stop here… OR play along with Twisted Sister’s optional twist below to earn another chance at our random draw.

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister says, “What! No Dirty dishes for only a Day?  My sink is used to being piled up just like my stash.  So let’s choose some embellishments and/or bling (glitter, gems, sequins, ribbons, flowers, etc.) from your stash, and don’t be afraid to pile it on your girly girl project.”  Optional Twist:  If you have included embellishments and/or bling on your project you will earn another chance for our Random Draw.

Thing 2:  Double Dare says, “If you have met Trouble Maker’s girly girl  requirement, with or without bling, you are eligible to enter your project HERE  for Stinkin’ Inkers Challenge #  “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.  This is a monthly challenge and DTC will be participating starting May 17th through Sunday, May 30th.

Here is my design

I cut two pieces of the Lovely papers 3 3/4 inch by 5 inch then cut along the diagonals. Since I had enough to make two cards, I did!

Here is the inside. I used the Floral Borders and Sentiment stamp set. I colored the flowers with Bashful and Julep Shimmer Brushes. The “thank you” is from a retired Stamp of the Month.

I hope you will join in the fun! Happy Crafting!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Sponging

Welcome to our second challenge of May here at Heart 2 Heart!

This challenge is a fun one! Sponging is a fun technique that can be done using a variety of ink. I will show you two cards using Oxide Inks and the other using regular ink. We hope you will join us and play along. Please remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your design.

Here are the two cards the one on the left I used Oxide inks and the one on the right is using regular inks.

For this card I used the Wisteria, Fern, Flamingo, Canary and Glacier inks to loosely color the flowers.

I used sponges and some other sponge tools I have to color.

As you can see the oxide inks are a bit more vibrant. For both of these cards I used the Floral Borders & Sentiments stamp set.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. Did you know you can link your projects from Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, and many other platforms using the url link to your design. You have until May 31st, 2021 to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Technique Hop – “Just Distress Oxide It!”

Welcome to the Just Distress Oxide It Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques using Oxide Inks. I have a couple of techniques using Oxide Inks that I want to share with you. As you hop around you will see some fun ways to incorporate these oxide inks into your artwork. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 makers participating in this hop.

These are the three cards I create each using oxide inks in a different way. I will walk you through the different techniques.

For this card I used stencils with the oxide inks Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers to create the background. I then spritzed the oxide inks to create the oxidized look. I used the Hillside Cottage Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts for the fox. I also used the Hillside Cottage Shapes which I colored using the oxide inks. I used the Pumice Stone on the bunny and White Pigment in on the dot in the center of the flower. The flower on the right I use Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn. I added a few dot with Onyx Pearl.

For this card I crated a background by putting some oxide ink on my all purpose mat. I used the Hearts Background Thin Cut, Vellum and an “hello” that was cut with my Cricut and sitting in my extras cup.

You can see I placed the ink on the mat then on the right I spritzed the inks with water. I then started to smoosh the Distressed Oxide paper. Using my heat tool in between applying ink.

For the third card I used my Hexagon Stencil from Stencil pack 2.

For this card I used Candy Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Chipped Sapphire, and Seedless Preserves oxide inks to create my rainbow. I used the Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut for the sentiment, I cut the black layered hexagon freehand. The sentiment is from the stamp set that is part of the Cardmaking Craft with Heart Subscription. I added some Carnation Red Liquid Pearls to give it a bit of pop.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto WENDY KESSLER’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!
