Heart 2 Heart ~ Stencil It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the challenge is Stencil It. You may come up with another idea but using a stencil to add color or texture to your artwork. You may create your own stencil or use one that you purchased. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project. Be sure to clearly indicate what product you used.

I have been having so much fun playing with the new Stencils that Close to My Heart just released. I only have Stencil pack #1 but the others are on orders.

I used Candy Apple Oxide Ink on Evergreen paper. I then decided to add Nebula Stickles Gel over the stencil to add the gold look. I used the new Stitched Scalloped Thin Cuts for the sentiment. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I added a bit more gold with the Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Embellishing Thread.

Here you can see the beautiful effect of the Nebula Stickle Gel.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ New to You

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This is s fun theme! You can feature a new product, a new technique, a new baby, a new house, a new pet…. you get the picture. Please join us! The only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I decided to play around with my oxide inks and gloss sprays which are still new to me. I used the new stencils with Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers. I then added Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray.

I stared by sponging on the colors. I then spritzed with water so the oxide reaction would occur. Then I sprayed and splattered the gloss sprays. For this card I cut the “happy” with my Cricut using the Black Ore paper. I used the birthday form the October Stamp of the Month. I used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut for the black cardstock.

With this version used the stencil to apply the oxide inks. But before I applied the gloss spray I used the stencil as to create the doodle line like Chelsey Vorosmarty showed. I then added the Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray. For this one I cut the Happy with my Cricut, but cut 6 times and glued them together to add dimension.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

September SOTM Blog Hop – Here for the Memories

Welcome to the SOTM Blog Hop!

I had this idea to focus on the sentiment “let the good times roll”. I used one of the Happiest Place digital files and cut with my Cricut. I thought the rollercoaster would be fun paired with the sentiment.

I used my Distressed Oxide inks which are one of the many new products we are carrying. I used Cracked Sapphire and Pumice to create these cards.

With this card I sponged the background using dauber. I then spritz the cardstock with water. I used Candy Apple Pigment Ink to stamp the sentiment. I then used clear embossing powder.

To create this background, I smooshed the ink pads on my All Purpose Mat, then spritzed the ink on the mat. I then squished the cardstock into the spritzed ink. I used my heating tool to dry before dabbing it back thru the inks on the mat and heated. I repeated this process until I liked the mount of ink. I framed the card using the frame from the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. Lastly I added a couple of Blue Belle Sequins. Blue Belle is our color of the year!

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of SEPTEMBER and if you spend $50 on qualifying product it could be yours for $5!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Green Thumb

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we have a fun challenge ~ Green Thumb. This is open to interpretation it could be plants, flowers, or even just using the color green. Have fun with it and just remember to use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I have been seeing this technique called the Borgello Technique and have been wanting to give it a try. I started with white cardstock and then sponged Sweet Leaf, Green Apple, Fern and New England Ivy inks to create the background. I then cut the paper into 1/2 inch strips then attached them to a second white cardsock. I then ran the two layers through my die cutting machine using the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I used the Stitched Square Thin Cuts with New England Ivy to make the frame around the koala. I used the A Koala-ty Day Stamp and thin cut. I colored the koala with markers. I did use Black Pigment Ink with Clear Embossing Powder.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until August 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Technique Blog Hop ~ The Pretty of Paper-Piecing

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Paper Piecing. Stencils can be used in a variety of way to color, add a bit of shine, or splatter. If you are coming from KATY TAYLOR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 participating in this hop.

So I know you can stamp patten paper piece the pieces together to crate a fun image. I wanted to try something different. I used this image I found on Pinterest.

So I took that original fox and added a few lines and colored how I envisioned.

Here is final image that I settled on. I scanned the image and uploaded it into my Silhouette program. I then created a cut file.

For this card I used the Timber Paper Pack for the background which I cut using the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I also used some of the papers from the Seasonal Mix ins. I did use one of our retired embossing folders to emboss the Daisy White Cardstock.

For this one I used only the papers from the Seasonal Mix ins. I did use the same Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts.

Here is the third using another of the paper from the from the Seasonal Mix ins.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MISS CARRIE’S CREATION where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Technique Blog Hop ~ Let it Shimmer

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Shimmer Brushes. Stencils can be used in a variety of way to color, add a bit of shine, or splatter. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

Since we have all these fantastic colors of shimmer brushes I got to thinking about a rainbow… so that was the inspiration of my first card.

I used the Red, Raspberry, Peach, Julep, and Lagoon shimmer brushes to paint the background. I then cut the cardstock with the Stitched Rectangle Frame Thin Cuts.

The Dream is a Cricut cut from the Everyday Moments collection. I then added a few White Gems.

I also love to use shimmer brushes to add color instead of using watercolors or marker. They are also great to add splatters. Here is another card.

For this card I used Wisteria and Daisy White cardstock with the Stitched Square and Rectangle Frame Thin cuts. I used the Wisteria and Julep Brushes to color the image.

I stamped the image and sentiment in Black Pigment Ink then used Clear embossing powder. I used the A Million Little Things stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’s BLOG where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Sponged Background

Have you every tried to create your own background? What about by sponging? It can be fun to do. This time I tried to create it to look like a scene.

I used a stencil to make the clouds. I even created a video to show you how I made this background.

Technique Blog Hop ~ Stencil It

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Stencils. Stencils can be used in a variety of ways. Two of my favorites ways to use stencils is with texture paste and to sponge on ink. I will show you both. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

With this layout I used a stencil to add texture paste that I colored with Green Apple ink. I used the Blue Skies paper pack and the coordinating Green Apple and Candy Apple cardstock. I also used Sapphire and Canary cardstock. I also used a few of the new wooden buttons which I colored green with my Tri-blend markers. I pulled some of my retired sapphire burlap ribbon to add a little extra to the buttons.

Here you can see the Texture paste and the stencil I used. I knew that I was going to cover most of the Daisy White cardstock with layers of paper so I only did the stencil around the outside. I created my own stencil using our stencil sheets and cut it on my Cricut using an image from Artbooking. I applied ink to my All Purpose mat and then mixed some of the texture paste in. I keep applying more ink until the saturation I liked was reached.

Here is a close up of the detail. I will be ordering my prints for this layout soon so but since I order from Persnickety Prints I wait until I have a few layouts planned before I order.

With this card I used the stencil and applied ink to make the pattern. I used Carolina cardstock which was cut using the Rectangle Thin Cuts. I used the Diamond thin cut from the Aurora Scrapbooking Stamp set and thin cuts. The sentiment is from Celebrating You stamp set. I also used the Beautiful Day stamp and thin cuts. I colored the hot air balloons with my Tri-Blend Markers. I did use my Sapphire Pigment ink and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing powder.

Here you can see how I used the stencil to apply the Carolina ink and make the circle pattern.
