Convention Time ~ Roommate Gifts

I am SOOOOO excited!  Today the Close to My Heart Convention starts!! I am in Provo, Utah to celebrate in the excitement.  It has been three years since I have been able to attend so I am so excited to be back.  I thought to celebrate I would share the gifts I made for my roommates.  There is a tradition to make something crafty for your roommates.  I decided to make Postit Note Holders.

Since it it all about crafting what would be better than using the Craft On papers with the Crafting Shapes Thin Cuts.  I made the tops Shakers using the Shaker Window & Confetti Thin Cuts with Shaker Window Foam & Acetate. I used Pixie cardstock as the base.  It was cut at 3 1/2 inches by 7 inches.  I scored the base at 3 1/4 and 3 3/4 inches.  I used some ribbon from my stash to make it look like a gift.

I changed up the colors I used to cut the Crafting Shapes Thin Cuts.  I used the Loose Crafty Sequins and Silver Foil Paper for the scissors. I couldn’t resist making one for myself.

I saw the fantastic SPRING that Ginni Candelaria designed and knew I wanted to do something like this.  I realized I did not really have much in the way of SUMMER decor so when I saw the Into the Wild paper pack inspiration took hold.

All of the Cricut cuts are from YOU ARE HERE and the FLOWER MARKET cartridges.  Here is a closer look at each letter.  The letters are our Chipboard Letters, we also have numbers too!

So living here in Colorado, our summers are spent enjoying all that the great outdoors have to offer. One of our family favorites is to Mountain Bike. So of course the letter “S” is a tribute to this.  I did use the Into the Wild Complements on a number of the letters.  I tore a bit of Kraft to make it look like a trail and also used some of the Silver Foil Paper on the bike.close to my heart ~ CatScrapbooking ~ Into the Wild ~ Summer ~ home decor

The “U” is playful to me with the trees and cute wood grain critters from the Into the Wild Complements.

I thought for this “M” I would feature one of the water sports you can do here.

Of course hiking is a big draw here in Colorado and one of my favorite ways to get out an explore the outdoors.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Seasons Change

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This challenge is Seasons Change!  I love to create home decor with each season. I have created various banners and wreaths for the different seasons.  When I was changing out to spring decorations, I realized I did not have a spring wreath. So I knew what my project would be….

Catscrapbooking ~ Close to My Heart ~ CTMH ~ flowers ~ Wreath ~ Paper flowers ~ Flower MarketI remembered I had a couple of extra Welcome Home kits from a couple years ago.  I used the wreath base from that kit. I cut all the flowers and leaves using my Cricut.  All of the leaves, flowers, and banner are from the Flower Market Cartridge, the exception is the Spring and peony flower. I used Lilac, Bluebird, Lemon, Saffron, White, Sage, Fern, New England Ivy, and Linen cardstock. I added a couple of butterflies from the Butterfly Friendship Stamp and Thin Cuts. I cut two of each butterfly.  I stamped them with the Intense Black ink and then colored them with reinker (Lilac, Canary and Bluebird) and my watercolor brush.

You can also see the shimmer that I added to the linen leaf detail with my shimmer brush.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Important Things

I hope your 2019 is of to a great start!! The new year always brings new beginnings and this year is no exception. This year I have taken on a new venture… becoming a member of the Design Team for Heart 2 Heart!  I am so excited to participate as part of this Design Team!

To kick of the new year at Heart 2 Heart we are are featuring the IMPORTANT THING(S) for our design challenge.  Focus on what is Important to you and share your artwork with us.

For me (and probable many others people) Family one of the Important Things.  I wanted to highlight my family by using the awesome National Papercrafting Frame from Close To My Heart.  I had this photo from a couple years ago of my son, husband and I, which would be perfect for my Magnolia Frame.

I used the “N” Chipboard letter to highlight our last name.  I then covered it with one of the Seasonal Mix in Papers, which unfortunately this particular paper just retired.  I then cut our last name using my Cricut with the Babette font on Charcoal Cardstock.

Come and join us at Heart 2 Heart and show us your IMPORTANT THINGS projects. You have until the end of January to link up with this challenge.

I have been helping out this year with the Staff and Teacher Appreciation committee this year at my son’s school.  We have been doing a variety of things for the Staff and Teachers each month as part of the PTA. This month we are doing the Five days of Christmas which started this morning.  I designed the sign using our large letter as one of the focal points.

The JOY is using our Chipboard Monogram Letters. All the other letters were cut using my Cricut.  I used Fern and New England Ivy cardstock along with the Tis the Season papers.  The chipboard letters are covered in Gold Glitter Paper. I also embellished the letters with some additional items. The Poinsettias, Holly and Ornaments are all from Flower Market Cricut Cartridge. I used the Candy Apple Stripped Ribbon and the New England Ivy Burlap Ribbon too.

Mini is Marvelous Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 11 of us highlighting mini albums or really anything crafty that is mini.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

I really wanted to create one of the new Stories by Stacy albums and plan to make it for my husband for father’s day, but unfortunately life has been a bit busy.  I will still crate this album but it will be in a little later this summer.  Fortunately I had been working on a mini album so I decided to focus on it.  If you are coming from DEBI MCBAINS BLOG, you are on the right track!

I crated one of these albums for my son after his first year of Pre-K as I did not just want to give him a big box of papers.  You can check out my first on HERE to see how it will be bound. I will plan to take it to Office Depot/Max and have them add the binding.  The size of the book is 9×6 inches.

This is the cover using the Central Park papers.  I really love this pattern paper as it is so cheerful.  The inch worm ruler is a SVG file that I have with my Silhouette.  I used White Daisy, Charcoal and Willow.  I matted the photo with Glacier.

The inside cover is using the revers of the paper and his class photo.  I also saved one of his name tags to add to the album.

The PreK he went to used the Tools of the Mind program so every day they created a play plan which will go in this section which was him drawing a picture of what he was going to do and eventually starting to write what he planned to do. This was the divider tab for his play plans.

I made a divider for each of the different types of papers and artwork that went home.  I used all CTMH cardstock focusing on Willow, Poppy, Canary, Pacifica and Glacier.  Instead of using the actual art work I actually took photos of them, then had the photos printed and added.  This makes the whole book much more compact and a great memory book.   I am planning on dropping it off to get bound this week!! Now on to Junior Kindergarten….

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork highlighting the awesome patterns Close to My Heart Offers!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

It was fun to crate these and look forward to displaying every year.

Think Pink Blog Hop

Welcome to the Think Pink Blog Hop!

Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop.  Today we are featuring artwork which showcases some of the pink products are part of February’s special.

If you are just arriving here from MELINDA EVERITT’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 16 consultants participating so you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I love the mobile idea that Close to My Heart came up with using the pinks.  It inspired me to make a Spring Home Decor.  I have made one for Fall and Summer so it was time for a “Spring” one.  Here is how it turned out.

I know it is hard to see the detail in this photo so her is a close up of two of the letters.

For this project I used 4×4 burlap tiles that I purchased about 2 years ago.  I used Bashful cardstock along with a bit of the pixie cardstock (for the base layer of the butterflies).  I wanted a bit of pattern paper so the Gimme Some Sugar pattern paper was perfect. I used the same cricut cuts for my flowers and butterflies.  I also used the Bashful Pearls for the center of the flowers. I wanted to add a bit of shimmer so I used the Bashful Shimmer Brush.

Lego Birthday

So this past weekend was my son’s sixth birthday.  I love creating his invites and things for his birthday.  This year I pulled in reinforcements for the cake, a professional!!  He chose Legos as his theme.

Here is the invitation.  It was really simple to create just a hole punch and pop dots to punch the circles up. For the inside I just created in word and printed.

I knew we needed at least one game so what about pin the head on the Lego person?  I cut a bunch of Lego heads and the kids could design their own.  Then they tried to pin it on the body.

Here is with some of the heads.

It was a fun party and the kids had fun too.
