Heart 2 Heart ~ Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our theme is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. You can interpret this anyway you wish. The most obvious is to include an actual rainbow or maybe a rainbow of colors, it is totally up to you. Just remember you must include at least one Close to My Heart product in your creation.

I used the Blue Skies stamp set to make this card. I used Sapphire pigment ink for the sentiment and then used clear embossing powder. I used Candy Apple, Nectarine, Lemonade, Green Apple, Bluebird, Wisteria, and Eggplant inks to color the rainbow. I used the Stitched Rectangle Frame Thin Cuts to cut the Carolina base.

I also created a couple other cards using a polygon die from Honey bee Stamps to create these rainbow inspired cards.

I used the Stitched Rectangle Frame to cut the Eggplant and Candy Apple bases. I cut the sentiments three times and then stacked so it added more dimension.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until May 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ National Scrapbooking Month

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are celebrating National Scrapbooking Month with this challenge. You may want to use some of the Blue Skies products Close to My Heart released to celebrate or you may just want to complete a scrapbook layout. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in you project.

I decided to use the EveryDay Memories Cricut collection I have a confession, I have never used on of the layouts from these collections. I decided to play with the colors to match my photos better. I have to say it was fun to create and I am pleased with the results. I did encounter one issue in that I had 4×6 photos and not 5×7 as the layout was design to hold. I solved this by matting the photos.

I added a few of the Seas the Day gems and some silver embellishing thread.

I really like the pocket for the journaling.

I also decided to share a card I created from the Blue Skies papers and coordinating cardstock. I used the Sentiments by Melissa Esplin stamp for the Hello. The flowers are also part of the Blue Skies Collection with the Beautiful Day Stamp and thin cuts.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until May 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Angel Mother

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week Heart 2 Heart is challenging you creation in honor of your Angel Mother, or this is how I interpreted. Close to My Heart has offered some amazing stamp sets to honor our mothers. I chose to focus my project on one of these stamp sets. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in you project.

The moment I saw the Mother’s Day Door stamp set I though of my mother. My mom is a very successful realtor in New Orleans. She has always loved and collected posters with doors from various locations around the world. So I thought it would be fun to make her some card she could use to send to her clients.

For this card I used some watercolor paper. I stamped with Black Pigment ink then used Clear Embossing Powder. I then used my watercolor paints to bring the image to life. I then used my Rectangle Thin Cuts to cut the watercolor paper and matted on to Carolina cardstock.

With this card I used all the same items as above but with this card. I left off the lanterns and matted on Eggplant Cardstock.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until May 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Home is Where the Heart is!

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week Heart 2 Heart challenge is Home Is Where the Heart Is. I know for all of us we are discovering new things as we play out our stay at home orders. It may be reconnecting with old friends via FaceTime or Zoom calls Learning to navigate working from home, home schooling, and finding new hobbies. For us it has been entertaining, home schooling, and interacting with our eight year old son.

For this challenge create a project to go along with our theme and be sure to include at least one Close to My Heart Product.

I designed this layout to show case some of the fun things we have been doing during our time at home. This past week my son decided he wanted to have fun with shaving cream, and is just so happened that I had some in my crafting supplies. He spent about an hour playing with the cookie sheet full of shaving cream. Unfortunately, I have now be able to get my photos printed in time to add them to the layout.

I used watercolor paints to splatter on the lower half of the Daisy White cardstock. I then did a few strokes in the lower right corner. I then stamped the cute house from the Stay Home stamp set.

I used the Blue Skies Papers and the Coordinating cardstock.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Life’s a Beach

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week with Heart 2 Heart our challenge theme is ~ Life’s a Beach. For me I went to dreaming about going to the beach since we have had to cancel our cruise to Hawaii this summer. So I decided to get some of our prior beach excursion into the scrapbooks. I wanted to show you how awesome the Close to My heart Seas the Day Scrapbook workshops is.

The Seas the Day Scrapbook workshops is an amazing kit that helps you create 2 double page layouts plus 2 single page layouts. All you really need to do is add your photos and assemble.

This is how I put one of the layouts together. Here is how they show it. I did make some minor changes to the right page.

Here is a close up of each page.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Pet-Pourri

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our challenge is Pet-Pourri. For this challenge we want you to celebrate your pet or possibly an animal that you love. Maybe a card or a layout or what every you feel fits this challenge. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in you project.

I decided to complete this layout that I have been waiting to complete. I had to say good by to my boy several years and had not done my memorial page yet. I had this idea to use the hearts and make a frame. I couldn’t find what I wanted in Design Space so I made it myself. It took a bit of time but I am pleased the way it turned out. I used the Best Friends Furever paper pack which is now retired. I also used the the Yesterday & Today paper for the base. I also used the Seasonal Mix-in along with some cardstock.

Heart 2 Heart ~ 10th Anniversary Celebration

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week is a special challenge for Heart 2 Heart, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary!!! Although I have only been on the design team for a little over one year. For this challenge you may decide to focus on the number 10, an anniversary, or even just how much you love Close to My Heart.

I decided to focus on the number 10 with my sunburst. I used 10 different colors of cardstock ~ Thistle, Eggplant, Carolina, Bluebird, Green Apple, Sweet Leaf, Lemonade, Nectarine, Smoothie, and Candy Apple. I also decided to focus on my love for Close to my Heart and create some fun cards to send to friends/family to brighten their day during these unsettled times.

This was the first one I created, as I had not made a sunburst card in a while so I forgot how to do it. I then did a search to refresh my memory.

I cut strips of paper 5 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inch. Then cut at a diagonal. I decided to stamp some of the sunburst with one of the flower stamps included in the Let the Good Times Roll Stamp Set tone on tone. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts to cut the Daisy White. I decided to go with Velum for the sentiment. I stamped with Black Pigment ink then used Clear Embossing Power.

After completing the first two cards my son says I like the Black border better, so I made one more.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until April 30th to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Color Challenge

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are challenging you with a Color Challenge ~ Pixie, Canary, Julep, & Lagoon. If you don’t have these exact colors use a color that is close. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in you project.

I was inspired to make this card by Michelle Stewart who had made a fairy card and sponged her background. I knew these colors would be perfect. The first step I took was to used VersaMark to stamp the sentiment and sparkles with the Fairy Tale Magic, then used White Embossing Powder. Then I started sponging on the color with Lagoon, then followed with Canary, Pixie and then ended with Julep. I used my markers to color this adorable fairy. I then added a few Bitty Sparkles and Clear Gems.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Paper Tearing

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are challenging you to use paper tearing in your project. This was all the rage a few years ago and I have not done it in some time until recently. It is fun to bring things back to life. Let’s see what will you create? Just remember you must use at least on Close to My Heart product in you project.

I have really enjoyed making the double point cards, here is one I created in February. I was watching a few of my fellow Close to My Heart sisters videos for the Creative Hop and saw this one by Tina Lovell which inspired me to make this card as she used torn paper in hers.

For this card I used the Seas the Day paper pack with Sapphire, Carolina, and Daisy White. I used the Seas the Day Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts. I used the large circle from the Shaker Thin Cuts for the Sapphire cardstock and then the large circle is from the basic circle thin cuts.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!
