I decided to make some basic Christmas trees out of rectangles. I used Black Soot Oxide ink with the Stencils Pack 3. The pattern papers are from the Season Mix-in Paper Pack. The stamped sentiment is from a retire stamp set but I used Black Pigment Ink with Clear Embossing Powder. I added a couple of the White Flower Sequins as tree toppers and added a couple of Clear Sparkles. The white layer is cut with the Stitched Rectangle thin cuts.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Christmas is coming Early

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

For those of us how likes to make handmade Christmas cards, you can never start early enough! For this weeks challenge our theme is Christmas is Coming Early. This could be a Card, a layout or maybe some holiday decor… it is up to you! Just remember you must use at least ONE Close to My Heart Product in your project, making sure we know what it is. Please have fun an play with us!

I designed two cards which were a snap to put together as they were cut using the Comfort and Joy Circut collection.

I cut the Deck the Halls using the Scarlet Glitter Paper. I backed it with the holly paper from the Comfort and Joy Paper Pack. There are a couple of small circles in each of the corners that I filled with Black Onyx Liquid Pearls. I use the holly leaf stamp which is from the Exclusive Album Retreat stamp set. I stamped the leaf in Avocado ink on Avocado. I had cut and added some Christmas Red Stickles to make the holly.

For this version I used Scarlet Cardstock to cut the Deck the Halls. I backed it with one of the papers from the Seasonal Mix-in paper. I used the same stamp for the holly leaves and Christmas Red Stickles for the holly. For the circles I used the Christmas Red Stickles and the Silver Stickles.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Stencil It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the challenge is Stencil It. You may come up with another idea but using a stencil to add color or texture to your artwork. You may create your own stencil or use one that you purchased. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project. Be sure to clearly indicate what product you used.

I have been having so much fun playing with the new Stencils that Close to My Heart just released. I only have Stencil pack #1 but the others are on orders.

I used Candy Apple Oxide Ink on Evergreen paper. I then decided to add Nebula Stickles Gel over the stencil to add the gold look. I used the new Stitched Scalloped Thin Cuts for the sentiment. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I added a bit more gold with the Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Embellishing Thread.

Here you can see the beautiful effect of the Nebula Stickle Gel.

Heart 2 Heart ~ New to You

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This is s fun theme! You can feature a new product, a new technique, a new baby, a new house, a new pet…. you get the picture. Please join us! The only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I decided to play around with my oxide inks and gloss sprays which are still new to me. I used the new stencils with Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers. I then added Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray.

I stared by sponging on the colors. I then spritzed with water so the oxide reaction would occur. Then I sprayed and splattered the gloss sprays. For this card I cut the “happy” with my Cricut using the Black Ore paper. I used the birthday form the October Stamp of the Month. I used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut for the black cardstock.

With this version used the stencil to apply the oxide inks. But before I applied the gloss spray I used the stencil as to create the doodle line like Chelsey Vorosmarty showed. I then added the Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray. For this one I cut the Happy with my Cricut, but cut 6 times and glued them together to add dimension.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Something to Smile About

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we have a fun theme for you ~ SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT! What makes you smile? Me getting scrapbook layouts completed, using those papers you have been saving for the “perfect” layout. I decided I needed to get a few of the layouts that I planed this spring completed. Plus I had been organizing some of my older papers to make room for some of the new ones coming out, so I rediscovered some papers which would be great for this layout.

Here is a close up of each side.

I remembered this ticket paper from the Magical papers and it was perfect for this layout. I also can say creating this Thomas cut with my Cricut made me smile as well, since it was the first time I created my own cut file using my Cricut.

I did use a couple of retired Seasonal mix in papers for the black stars. I did pull one of the yellow strip papers from Penelope papers. The black and white strip is a zip strip from our current Seasonal Mix in papers.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until August 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Walk on the Wild Side

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the theme is Walk on the Wild Side. This challenge is open to interpretation. I thought about wild animals and I also decided to try playing with some product I had in a way I never have. I have owned some Distressed Oxide Inks for a while but it was not until recently I watched a video on what I can actually do with them. So I took a walk on the wild side.

I used my Faded Jeans, Wilted Violet and Storm Sky to layer on the colors. It was really fun seeing how you could really add the different colors on top of the prior layer. I used Mint twine and cardstock. I used the Scalloped Circle Thin Cut and the A Koala-ty Day Stamp and Thin Cut. I colored the Koala with my markers.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until August 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!
