Technique Blog Hop ~ Let it Shimmer

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Shimmer Brushes. Stencils can be used in a variety of way to color, add a bit of shine, or splatter. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

Since we have all these fantastic colors of shimmer brushes I got to thinking about a rainbow… so that was the inspiration of my first card.

I used the Red, Raspberry, Peach, Julep, and Lagoon shimmer brushes to paint the background. I then cut the cardstock with the Stitched Rectangle Frame Thin Cuts.

The Dream is a Cricut cut from the Everyday Moments collection. I then added a few White Gems.

I also love to use shimmer brushes to add color instead of using watercolors or marker. They are also great to add splatters. Here is another card.

For this card I used Wisteria and Daisy White cardstock with the Stitched Square and Rectangle Frame Thin cuts. I used the Wisteria and Julep Brushes to color the image.

I stamped the image and sentiment in Black Pigment Ink then used Clear embossing powder. I used the A Million Little Things stamp set.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Tags

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This weeks theme is Tags! Tags can be used in so many ways. We cannot wait to see what you come up with. Please remember you much use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I used the June Stamp of the month ~ Garden Tags and A Million Little Things stamp set. This months stamp of the month coordinates with the Tags and Tabs Thin Cuts. I had this idea to focus on the center of the tag by doing a cut away. So I created a mask to cover the outside of the stamp image.

I then stamped the top left tag three times then colored. I then cut four of the Daisy White cardstock with the stitched oval thin cut and layered them. I also used the Rectangle Stitched Thin Cut.

Here is how I cut the tag with the two dies. I used a bit of post-it tape to hold them together.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until June 30th to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ In Stitches

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our theme is In Stitches. This could be using stitches whether real or faux on your project. There is also our paper pack Stitched Together which you could use. We also have many thin cuts that have a stitched element which would also work. Just remember you must include at least one Close to My Heart product in your creation.

I have been working on a fancy fold card workshop and designed this gate fold card as part of that workshop. I used the Stitched Together Papers. I used Sweet Leaf, Candy Apple, Peach, Black and Daisy White cardstock. I used the Scallop Circle Thin cut which has a stitched circle. The ladybug and leaves are from the Stitched Together Cricut cuts.

Here is the inside of the card. I added a couple of butterflies from the Hello Ladybug stamp set.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our theme is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. You can interpret this anyway you wish. The most obvious is to include an actual rainbow or maybe a rainbow of colors, it is totally up to you. Just remember you must include at least one Close to My Heart product in your creation.

I used the Blue Skies stamp set to make this card. I used Sapphire pigment ink for the sentiment and then used clear embossing powder. I used Candy Apple, Nectarine, Lemonade, Green Apple, Bluebird, Wisteria, and Eggplant inks to color the rainbow. I used the Stitched Rectangle Frame Thin Cuts to cut the Carolina base.

I also created a couple other cards using a polygon die from Honey bee Stamps to create these rainbow inspired cards.

I used the Stitched Rectangle Frame to cut the Eggplant and Candy Apple bases. I cut the sentiments three times and then stacked so it added more dimension.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until May 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

20th Anniversary Covid Style

Today marks my 20th wedding anniversary. We have moved lived thru Veterinary School, moving across country, moving to 5 different houses, we have had 8 dogs, 5 cats, one now 8 year old boy and now Covid 19. This is definitely one for the record books. So I figured what better way to celebrate than to use some of the fun stamps that Close to My Heart created.

I random stamped the rolls of TP from the Through Think and Thin stamp set on Carolina cardstock in Carolina ink. I then used the Stitched Rectangle thin cuts. I used the new Tag and Tabs thin cuts to cut the tag. I used it on a portion the Dreamy Holographic paper for the top of the tag. I used an embossing folder to emboss one on the stamped toilet paper rolls. I added a few of the white dots and the ribbon is from my stash. I did use the Mini stapler to attach the ribbon.

Unfortunately we will not be celebrating our anniversary the way we hoped to with a cruse to Hawaii. I guess it will have to wait until 2021….

Sponged Background

Have you every tried to create your own background? What about by sponging? It can be fun to do. This time I tried to create it to look like a scene.

I used a stencil to make the clouds. I even created a video to show you how I made this background.

Technique Blog Hop ~ Stencil It

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use Stencils. Stencils can be used in a variety of ways. Two of my favorites ways to use stencils is with texture paste and to sponge on ink. I will show you both. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

With this layout I used a stencil to add texture paste that I colored with Green Apple ink. I used the Blue Skies paper pack and the coordinating Green Apple and Candy Apple cardstock. I also used Sapphire and Canary cardstock. I also used a few of the new wooden buttons which I colored green with my Tri-blend markers. I pulled some of my retired sapphire burlap ribbon to add a little extra to the buttons.

Here you can see the Texture paste and the stencil I used. I knew that I was going to cover most of the Daisy White cardstock with layers of paper so I only did the stencil around the outside. I created my own stencil using our stencil sheets and cut it on my Cricut using an image from Artbooking. I applied ink to my All Purpose mat and then mixed some of the texture paste in. I keep applying more ink until the saturation I liked was reached.

Here is a close up of the detail. I will be ordering my prints for this layout soon so but since I order from Persnickety Prints I wait until I have a few layouts planned before I order.

With this card I used the stencil and applied ink to make the pattern. I used Carolina cardstock which was cut using the Rectangle Thin Cuts. I used the Diamond thin cut from the Aurora Scrapbooking Stamp set and thin cuts. The sentiment is from Celebrating You stamp set. I also used the Beautiful Day stamp and thin cuts. I colored the hot air balloons with my Tri-Blend Markers. I did use my Sapphire Pigment ink and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing powder.

Here you can see how I used the stencil to apply the Carolina ink and make the circle pattern.

Color Dare #394 ~ Monochromatic Greens

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is Greens!  You can use BLACK & WHITES and any Neutral, but that is all!!

I decided to play with shaving cream and re-inkers (Evergreen, Clover anda Sweet Leaf) to create my lady bug wings.

So I have really been having fun with this thin cut and stamp set. I used the design in the idea book as my card layout. I used my black stickles to color the ladybug dots. I had to add googly eyes to my ladybugs. If you would like to see some more of my ladybugs you can check them out HERE.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #394  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.
