Heart 2 Heart ~ Color Challenge

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are challenging you with a Color Challenge ~ Pixie, Canary, Julep, & Lagoon. If you don’t have these exact colors use a color that is close. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in you project.

I was inspired to make this card by Michelle Stewart who had made a fairy card and sponged her background. I knew these colors would be perfect. The first step I took was to used VersaMark to stamp the sentiment and sparkles with the Fairy Tale Magic, then used White Embossing Powder. Then I started sponging on the color with Lagoon, then followed with Canary, Pixie and then ended with Julep. I used my markers to color this adorable fairy. I then added a few Bitty Sparkles and Clear Gems.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until APRIL 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #387 ~ Red

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is REDS!  You can use BLACK & WHITES but that is all!!

I decided to use red as just an accent and use some of my black and white pattern papers.

I used my Stitched Rectangles Thin Cuts to cut the large white and matted it with Black cardstock. I pulled the black and white polk-a-dot paper from my stash. The stitched square die is from my stash. I cut the Ruby butterfly using my Cricut. I added a couple black dots and used the new stamp set A Little Sentiment.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #387  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, April 9, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Paper Tearing

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we are challenging you to use paper tearing in your project. This was all the rage a few years ago and I have not done it in some time until recently. It is fun to bring things back to life. Let’s see what will you create? Just remember you must use at least on Close to My Heart product in you project.

I have really enjoyed making the double point cards, here is one I created in February. I was watching a few of my fellow Close to My Heart sisters videos for the Creative Hop and saw this one by Tina Lovell which inspired me to make this card as she used torn paper in hers.

For this card I used the Seas the Day paper pack with Sapphire, Carolina, and Daisy White. I used the Seas the Day Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts. I used the large circle from the Shaker Thin Cuts for the Sapphire cardstock and then the large circle is from the basic circle thin cuts.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #386 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe ~ Yesterday & Today

This week we have another Fun Color Dare Challenge for you.  This week for Color Dare #386 we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board this time it is focused around the Yesterday & Today papers.  For this challenge you can use any diagonal, row or column, you can add in any of the other colors shown.  Blacks & Whites are FREE.

I went with a diagonal Julep, Espresso and Toffee along with that far column Julep, Ruby and Mink. I did add in White and Black.

I have been seeing so many cute cards using the new Operation Smile stamp set You Make Me Happy so I knew I would base it around this stamp set. I started with Toffee as the base then cut a few trees in Mink with a die that is from my stash. I then used the new Stitched Bracket Frame thin cuts, I decided to sponge toffee around the edges. I then hand cut the julep frame to add a bit more contrast. I used the water color pencil which is like Espresso to color the moose. I then used toffee ink with watercolor brush for the antlers. I used the dark red Triblend Marker for the flowers. I used the Julep shimmer brush for the leaves. I then added a few julep glitter gems.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #386  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Technique Hop – Distressed Much?

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring Distressing techniques. Distress is giving (furniture, leather, or clothing) simulated marks of age and wear or in our case paper. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from Darlys Recker’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE.

I started with a piece of almond cardstock and distressed it. I used toffee re-inker and water. Here are some pictures of what I did.

Step 1 ~ I used my All-Purpose mat and added a few drops of Toffee Re-Inker. I then spritz with water. Step 2 ~ I then smooshed the Almond Cardstock into the re-inker and water. Step 3 ~ Is what It looked like. I did another one and spritz the paper before smooshing it. So you can see the two in the last photo.

Once the paper dried I tore part a portion, then crumpled it. I then used a sponge and Toffee ink to go over the creases to give it more of a weathered look.

The rest of the cardstock I used the Under the Sea Embossing Folder and then cut as the base for the shaker with the Shaker Window and Thin Cuts. The pattern paper if from the Seasonal Mix-in and I paired with Glacier cardstock as I like the way it looked with the mint pattern paper. I used the new Seas the Day Cardmaking Stamp Set and thin cuts. I added a few of the Loose Crafty Sequins which are still available.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto Valerie Kapsha’s BLOG where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Color Dare #385 ~ March Inspiration Board

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  We have another great Inspiration Photo – Valentine. Pick colors that you see in the photo and BLACK and WHITE are free!

I decided to focus on the St. Patrick’s Day idea with a shamrock and rainbow. I wanted to use a SVG file that I recently purchased of a gnome, it was actually a valentine theme but I decided to make it St. Patty themed.

I used the stamp set Luck O’ the Irish stamp set that was part of last months Stamptacular special. I use the stitched rectangle thin cuts to cut the Evergreen border. All other cuts were made with my cricut.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #385  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

If you are just arriving here from MELINDA EVERITT’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 20 consultants participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I decided to use the super cute cookoo clock stamp set called Around the Clock stamp set. I used the coordinating Card Front Spinner Thin Cuts. I used the Love of Color book to help me pick my colors. I started with Sweet Leaf and added Peacock, Saffron, Linen and Mink. I wanted to make this a birthday card and love the sentiment “a little birdie told me” and wanted it’s your birthday. So I used my computer and typed what I wanted then ran some linen cardstock through my printer and cut it to the size I wanted. I added a couple of gold gems.

Here is a quick video to show you the card.

Your next stop is along this hop is MICHELLE STEWART’S Blog  so hop on over and see what wonderful creation she has for you today.

Heart 2 Heart ~ So Punny

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week we have a new challenge for you ~ SO PUNNY! There are so many clever phrases that are puns on words that are out there. You may come up with your own interpretation of this challenge. For me, stamp sets that are plays on words associated with animals comes to mind. So this is the way I proceeded.

I pulled a retired paper from Fresh Air paper collection. I used the Stitched Square Frame to cut the New England Ivy. I used Black Pigment ink to stamp the sentiment and then used clear embossing powder. I use a sponge to add Carolina ink to make the background. The stamp set I used is from Technique Tuesday called Chameleon Friends. I also used a bit of White Burlap Ribbon. I colored the snake and branch with my markers.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!
