Heart 2 Heart ~ Cutting it Close

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week our theme is CUTTING IT CLOSE ~ This can be fussy cutting, using thin cuts, Cricut cuts, or any other cutting device. I love the new interactive thin cuts that Close to my Heart came out. I wanted to play with these.

For this card I used the Card Front Spinner Card Thin Cut paired with Rainbow Wishes Stamp Set. To create this cute spinner you will use foam tape plus a silver brad. I also fussy cut the clouds. I decided after the fact to add some splatters with my shimmer brushes. I used Sapphire, Red, Clear, and Mint.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until January 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #376 ~ Winter Inspiration Board

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  We have another great Inspiration Photo – WINTER. Pick colors that you see in the photo and BLACK and WHITE are free but NO other neutrals!

I love winter and all the colors that surround it! I fell in love with the new Technique Tuesday stamp set which is part of their Animal House series. I have a love of foxes (okay maybe an obsession) and this one captured my heart! Technique Tuesday offers a different animal based stamp set each month as part of their Animal House Stamp sets. Their first stamp set in this series was a fox which is why I signed up for the subscription and this month they released another fox!!!

I used the Spruced Up paper Pack with the burlap ribbon which has been retired. I also added a wooden element from the my stash. I used my Tri-blend markers to color the fox.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #376  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Try Something New

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

Try something new can be interpreted in many ways. It could be a new technique or a new fancy fold card or even using new products or even new equipment.

For me, my try something new is teaching cardmaking at an elementary school. I have been hosting kids workshops for about 4 months to about 8 kids but today I will be teaching 6 classes at my son’s elementary school. His school is hosting a Pursue Passion Day where the kids sign up for different classes. I will be teaching a class to each grade from kindergarten to 5th grade. Wish me luck!!!

Here is a photo of some of the cards I created for this event. Each child will get to make 2 cards. some are interactive cards like pop ups or movement. Others help them learn techniques. I used a lot of cardstock, some retired cardstock and some retired patten papers.

I am excited to share my passion with our next generation in hopes that it may excite them! Wish me luck as I know it will be a loooong day!

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until December 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #375 ~ Monochromatic Blues

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is BLUES!  You can use BLACK & WHITES are all neutrals are free.

I have a big challenge that I am getting ready for since Christmas. My son’s school is doing a Passion Pursuit Day for their first day back from Winter Break. I was asked if I would teach paper crafting, so of course I said yes!!!! I will be teaching all day to grades K-5. So my Winter break has been designing cards!!! I decided to make one of my cards with this challenge in mind.

I made a couple unicorn cards but I thought it would be fun to make a narwhal one as well. I cut the narwhal and waves with my Cricut. I used Carolina, Bluebird, Pewter and Charcoal cardstock. I added a couple of the blue loos Craft on Sequins. I also added a bit of Clear Shimmer to the tops of the waves; however, it is not showing up well in my photo.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #375  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

I love the new stamp set that was created with this Urban Collection!! I used second generation Saffron ink with the Sapphire for the tittle. I did use my retired tag thin cuts for the journaling. I stamped it with second generation Saffron and Mink, then added some retired sapphire burlap ribbon.

I thought I would share a three of my projects that I created when Urban first came out in 2015.

I added the Diamond Stickles to the center of a couple of the stars. I also used Black Shimmer brush to the bolder words of the sentiment. Unfortunately it is hard to see in the photos.

Color Dare ~ #373 Black & White plus 3 colors

This week at Color Dare we have a super fun challenge! We are partnering with Double Trouble. So for Color Dare Black and White Must Be Used – Plus Add 3 Additional Colors and No Other Neutrals. Double Trouble Requirement: THING 1: Trouble Maker says, “I went to the Zoo and the Zebra was my favorite animal. Won’t you include something striped (no plaid) somewhere in your project. If you use a black and white stripe you get another chance for the draw.” And the three colors option is to meet the requirement of Color Dare’s requirements.

I was looking on Pinterest for an inspiration since my mind is all over the place with Christmas fast approaching. I found this card and thought it would be perfect. Here is my take.

The black and white stripped paper is from a retired paper pack. The three colors I used is Wisteria, Julep, and Carolina. I added the Wisteria Ribbon and a few Julep Sequins. I stamped Birthday from the Say It In Style in White Pigment ink then used White Embossing Powder on the black cardstock. The Happy dies are from my stash.

I also participated in the Double Trouble Challenge which the following:

THING 1: Trouble Maker
says, “I went to the Zoo and the Zebra was my favorite animal.  Won’t you include something striped (NO PLAID) somewhere in your project.  You can use any color stripe; however, if you use a black and white stripe you get an additional chance for the draw.”

Heart 2 Heart ~ Evergreen

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This weeks challenge is Evergreen. This can be interpreted in different ways like Evergreen Trees or even the color Evergreen, which is one of the new colors that Close to My Heart released this year. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your creation.

I decided to create an Iris fold card using a couple of Evergreen papers. I used Evergreen Cardstock, one of the pattern papers from Cedar & Pine, and one of the pattern papers from the Seasonal Mix-in. I used the snowflake embossing folder once I had cut the shape of the tree. I actually used an exacto blade to cut the tree.

I kept the inside pretty simple with a sentiment stamped in Evergreen from this month’s Stamp of the Month ~ Reindeer Crossing.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until December 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!
