Heart 2 Heart ~ Christmas is coming Early

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

For those of us how likes to make handmade Christmas cards, you can never start early enough! For this weeks challenge our theme is Christmas is Coming Early. This could be a Card, a layout or maybe some holiday decor… it is up to you! Just remember you must use at least ONE Close to My Heart Product in your project, making sure we know what it is. Please have fun an play with us!

I designed two cards which were a snap to put together as they were cut using the Comfort and Joy Circut collection.

I cut the Deck the Halls using the Scarlet Glitter Paper. I backed it with the holly paper from the Comfort and Joy Paper Pack. There are a couple of small circles in each of the corners that I filled with Black Onyx Liquid Pearls. I use the holly leaf stamp which is from the Exclusive Album Retreat stamp set. I stamped the leaf in Avocado ink on Avocado. I had cut and added some Christmas Red Stickles to make the holly.

For this version I used Scarlet Cardstock to cut the Deck the Halls. I backed it with one of the papers from the Seasonal Mix-in paper. I used the same stamp for the holly leaves and Christmas Red Stickles for the holly. For the circles I used the Christmas Red Stickles and the Silver Stickles.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Planners Gonna Plan

Have you heard and seen the buzz about the new Close to My Heart Planners???  Well I love organization and planners so I was excited about this new product.  I was able to spend some time working on my planner this weekend.  I really love it!! I love the colors and that it has the week on two pages vs my single page planer I am currently using. I wanted to show you how it looks and how I am using it.

2016 CTMH Planner Month overview ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the monthly overview. I used the stickers, washi tape and some of our papers to indicate things on my calendar.  I assigned a color washi tape/sticker for each member of my family and also have one to indicate couple and family time.  I also have my regularly schedule blog hops indicated with various circles and tabs.  This helps me stay up on things.  By the way if you look at some of the tabs you many not recognize some of those papers this is because they are from the soon to be released Penelope Paper pack.2016 CTMH Planner Weekly view 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is what the weekly overview looks like.  I have the washi/sticker and tabs to indicate the same things on my monthly overview.  I used the new roller stamp to add menu to each day so I can plan my meals all on the same calendar instead of a separate one like I have been using.  I also used the birthday stamp on the roller to indicate a birthday then wrote who next to it.

2016 CTMH Planner Weekly view 1 ~ catscrapbooking.comI have to admit that the area to write to-dos or notes is not big enough for me as I currently uses a to do list for each day then transfer what is not done to the next.  I got creative and decided to create my own to do list and if I want I can change it every month if I want to look at something different.

To do list for 2016 CTMH Planner ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is a closer look.  I used the Artfully Sent cartridge and created one of the Framed Sleeve Cards #M101055 and cut it at 7.21″ high by 9.73″ wide.  This way I can slide in my to do lists in and change them out as needed. I actually created the inserts using the pocket cards and added the lines in Design Space.  So I just send it to my printer and using a black pen in the first holder I don’t have to draw lines, the Cricut does all the work 🙂  If you are wondering about the adorable flowers well this is another sneak peak at Springtime Wishes Stamp set and cut them using Springtime Wishes thin cuts.  I used my watercolor paper and paints.

To do list for 2016 CTMH Planner detail 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is a closer look at how they slide in and out.  I am so happy the way this planner is working out that I can’t wait to start using it full time …. Only two more weeks!!!!

Artfully Sent Father’s Day Card

I finally was able to get some free time to create a Father’s Day card for my husband.  I love The Best Dad Ever stamp set but I wanted to make one using Artfully Sent too.  So here is what I designed.

Father's Day card ~ Wanderful ~ Artfully Sent ~ catscrapbooking.comI used the card on page 40 of the Artfully Sent cartridge.  This card was perfect for my husband since he loves his muscle cars, although this is not a Corvette it should still go over well.   I decided to use Wanderful paper pack as it would be perfect since one of the pattern papers looked like a map.  Plus I have not really played with this pack yet.  I cut the Wanderful patten paper using my Cricut Explore.  I changed the measurements to be 5.5″ wide by  8″ tall.  I did have to unlock the measurements to get this size.  Then after cutting what I intended to be the card base and just line it, I changed my mind.  I decided to have a boarder around the pattern so I cut it at 5.75″ x 8.25″ .  I realize this is not a standard card size but it does not really matter since I will not be mailing.  To create the layers I went into Design Space and hid the outer contour line so the lines around the car and the detail on the cars was what remained.  I did this twice with the Crystal Blue and Black (for the tires only).  I then just pieced the Black, Whisper, Honey and Colonial White behind the open spaces of the car.  I added a little bling with Black and Gray Epoxy Bubbles Z1935.

Father's Day card ~ wanderful ~ artfully sent ~ The Best Dad Ever ~ catscrapbooking.comFor the inside I carried the Wanderful patten paper at the bottom.  I used The Best Dad Ever stamp set A1173 but I did not want to use the top hat, mustache and bow tie, so I used masking tape to mask off what part of the stamp I did not want to use.

I will be posting my son’s gift to his dad on Father’s Day so stay tuned.

Artfully Sent Blog Hop

Welcome to the Artfully Sent Blob Hop!!
Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop.  Today we are featuring the new Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge ~ Artfully Sent.  This is an awesome cartridge which will help you create fabulous cards which can pop-up, pocket or create scenes just to name a few.  But wait that is not all…. If you love Picture My Life you can now create your own inserts.
If you are coming here from DONNA DIGBY‘ Blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have over 40 consultants participating so you are going to see some fabulous artwork.
My father’s 75th birthday is today so I wanted to design a fun card for the occasion.  I chose one of the Pop-Up cards on page 40 the “You’re a classic”.  I prefer cards to be the A2 size(4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″) and most of the cards with the cartridge are recommended to be at the 5″ x 7″ size.  So to resize the card to the A2 I designed the layers in CCR.  I started with the base and sized it so the width was 5.5″.  I then just added the additional layers and using the lower right corner of the image once in CCR, I resized each layer so it worked with my base.Page 40 ~ catscrapbooking.com
Since I was designing a birthday card I needed a birthday sentiment.  So I found the one on page 27.  Using the same method of sizing, I was able to scale this to the appropriate size for the outside of the card.
Page 27 ~ Catscrapbooking.com
Here is the finished design.  I added a little extra to the car by using a grey pen to create fenders and accent the center of the wheels.  I chose the Yuletide Carol paper to work with as it has a classic feel and complemented it with the New England Ivy.

For this project I used the following products:

  • Paper Packs ~ Yuletide Carol & Enchanted Fundamentals (New England Ivy)
  • Cardstock ~ Black, New England Ivy, Whisper and Champagne
  • Embellishments ~ Black Twill Ribbon, Scardy Cat Assortment for the black stars, and brads from my stash

Stampers with Attitude ~ Artfully Sent

Welcome to the Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop!! The Stampers with Attitude is the team lead by Kimberly Moss.  This month the Stampers with Attitude are going to be showcasing artwork with the new Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge.   If you are just hopping here from BELINDA MCLANE’s Blog then you are in the right spot.

This cartridge is so wonderful there are so many different cards you can create.  Today I decided since it was October and Halloween is right around the corner, then a Halloween card was in order.  I also saw a really cool technique called Alcohol Marker Marbling on Splitcoast Stampers that I have been wanting to try which would work with halloween.

Happy Haunting - Artfully Sent ~ catscrapbooking.com

I love these scene cards.  I used the Alcohol Marbeling technique to create the background paper.  I used Warm Gray Z2467, Marigold z2457, Peony Purple Z2462, and Golden Yellow Z2452.  You can check out the technique at Splitcoast Stampers here they have written directions and a video.

Happy Haunting - Artfully Sent inside ~ catscrapbooking.com

I actually cut two of the bases of the card so I could create a sandwich with the haunted house and add the Honey in the middle.  If you notice the background is glossy it is actually photo paper.  I plan to just use a journaling pen to write on the card.  I used one of the bats from the cut and colored it black to add to the happy hauntings.

Items used:

  • Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge~ Pg 44
  • Cardstock~ Black, Honey, Thistle
  • Shin Han Markers ~ Warm Gray Z2467, Marigold z2457, Peony Purple Z2462, and Golden Yellow Z2452
  • Stamp Set ~  Moonlight WOTG (retired)
  • Embellishments ~ Black Stars from Scaredy Cat Assortment.
  • Misc ~ photo paper

Now hop on over to DEBBIE ANDREWS Blog and see what she has created.
