Technique Hop – “Here Comes the Sun!”

Welcome to the Technique Hop!!

This month we are exploring techniques using Oxide Inks. I have a couple of techniques using Oxide Inks that I want to share with you. As you hop around you will see some fun ways to incorporate these oxide inks into your artwork. If you are coming from WENDY KESSLER’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 13 makers participating in this hop.

I love the new Sunburst thin cut!! I love the look of the sunburst but sometimes struggle to make them, with this die you can cut a rainbow of colors and then mix and match to make multiple cards.

For the Mountain sunrise card, I welded two circuit mountains plus a rectangle to create my own mountain scene. I stamped the sentiment with the Months of the Year ~ June stamp set. Adding a 1″ circle which was inked in Mustard Seed Oxide Ink and cut with the Circle Thin Cuts. I added a bit of bling with the Gold Loose Sequins.

For this card I used the same sentiment from the Months of the Year ~ June stamp set. I also pulled the Flip Flops from this stamp set for the accent. I stamped in Intense Black ink, then I colored the Y strap with my pink metallic pen and then added Pink Taffeta Stickles. I colored the base of the flip flop with my markers.

This card is the same as above, the only difference is the color of the the flip flop. I used my metallic marker to soften the black on the y strap and then went over with Cool Mint Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

Color Dare #448 ~ Love of Color

Welcome to another challenge with Color Dare! For Challenge #448 we have our Love of Color challenge. Choose at least three of the colors for your project. Black, White, and Gold are FREE.

I went for all the colors except Charcoal. I love the Hillside Cottage Card Making Workshop, so I decided to recreate one of the cards using these colors.

I love that these patterns can be recreated with other colors and papers. I used a retired Seasonal Mix in for the peach. The sage is from Hillside Cottage papers. I used Dessert Rose to sponge behind the flowers on the White Cardstock.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #447  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. You can also link up via Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr and  other forums. For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Heart 2 Heart ~Let’s Get Inky

Welcome to our first June Challenge!!

For this challenge we want you to use inks to make a background, color items or however you choose to use your inks. Our only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product. I went with using my Oxide inks.

I used my oxide inks to create the backgrounds of each of these cards.

This was the first one I created. I used one of the stencils from the Stencil Pack 3. I sponged Chipped Sapphire ink onto the Daisy White Cardstock. Then using the Stitched Rectangle Thin cuts. I matted the background on black cardstock. I then used the Stitched Fancy Brackets for the background. Using the sapphire Shimmer Brush to splatter behind the sentiment. The sentiment is from the My Dad Rocks Stamp Set. I used the Black Ore Paper for the strip behind the sentiment. The blue dots are from my stash.

For this card I used a combination of oxide inks ~ Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet. After blending the colors, I used a piece of White Daisy that was cut using one of the Fancy Borders Thin Cuts. Using this cut cardstock I used as a mask to create the waves. I used white pigment ink and sponged the waves. I used the 3″ circle thin cut for the sentiment. I used my markers to color in the fish. The dots are also from my stash.

For this one, I created my own stencil with my Cricut. I sponged Mustard Seed, Candy Apple, Faded Jeans and Rustic Wilderness Oxide inks. I used the Square Stitched Thin Cuts. I added a bit of red to the hearts using Carnation Red Liquid Pearls.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. Did you know you can link your projects from Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, and many other platforms using the url link to your design. You have until JUNE 30th, 2021 to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #447 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe Stars & Sparklers

Welcome to another week with Color Dare!! This week we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board for Color Dare #447. This Tic-Tac-Toe board is based around the Stars and Sparklers Paper Pack. How this works is choose any column, row, or diagonal. Black, White, Gold and Kraft are free.

I went with the diagonal ~ Carolina, Toffee, Scarlet plus Sapphire, Black, White and Gold.

I realized I was lacking anniversary cards so I decided to make one as a slimline. I used the Stars & Sparkles paper pack for the pattern paper. I used Toffee, Carolina, Sapphire, and Scarlet cardstocks. I love the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts and used both the large and small for this card. I used the Simple Stitched Bracket Thin Cut for the sentiment which is from a retired stamp set Card Captions. I added a couple of Gold Glitter Gems for shimmer.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #447  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. I knew I wanted to highlight these awesome borders. When I looked at this stamp set I saw two groupings jump out to me. I have been totally loving rainbow colors so that inspired one of my cards.

Here there are individually.

I went with most of the rainbow colors using the light side of Candy Apple, Nectarine, Canary, Green Apple, Bluebird, and Grape cardstock. I stamped tone on tone using the Outdoor Borders stamp set. Then using the Months of the Year – June for the sentiment and envelope. I also used the Stitched Bracket Thin Cuts. I added a couple of red dots from my stash.

For this card I used Avocado, Toffee, and Peacock cardstock and inks. I used the Stitched Fancy Bracket Thin Cuts for the sentiment. The sentiment and accents are from the Take a Hike stamp and thin cuts, I colored the backpack and water bottle details with my markers. The last detail was the Gold Glitter Gems.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of JUNE. If you are a member of the Close To My Heart VIP program and you place a qualifying order of $50 in the US, you will get the stamp for FREE!! Welcome to the Slimline Card Blog Hop!

You will be hopping with the same talented Makers who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop. For this hop we are featuring the Slimline Cards! There will be sure to see some beautiful artwork!

If you are just arriving here from DARLYS RECKER’S Blog, or just starting at my blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating Makers on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have about 13 Makers participating and you are going to see some fabulous artwork.

I decided to use the new Thin Cut Circles to make this card. I used the 2 inch circle to make the cuts. Here is how I designed it.

I stared with a 3 x 8 inch piece of Daisy White. I drew a line down the center at 1 1/2 inches. I then made tick marks at 1/2 inch, 2 1/2 inch, 3 inch, 5 inch, 5 1/2 inch and 7 1/2 inch. I then lined the circle thin cut up in the 2 inch spaces.

This is what it looked like. I then erased the pencil marks. I then used Chipped Sapphire and Peeled Paint oxide inks to color the base. I used the circles to stamp the images from the Take a Hike Stamp Set. I added a couple of the Wood Arrows and Black Dots.

I have three projects to share with you. The first was when our first brought our puppy home and the second is a wreath that I made.

The first project I am going to show you is a layout I designed using the Seasonal Mix-ins. I used the Besties-Olivia stamp set for the paw prints on the Bluebird Cardstock.

I cut the title and the collar with my Cricut. I changed out the “O” on home with the paw print heart. I added a couple of the hearts from the Black Acrylic Arrows and a Wooden Heart.

I also added some Black Shimmer Trim.

My next project is a wreath that I make. I had the mdf USA that I covered with the Stars & Sparkles paper. I used White Glitter paper for the “S”. I did use outdoor Modge Podge to seal the USA.

My third project was finally covering these fire crackers that I picked up at Michael’s last year.
