Color Dare #357 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe

This week we have another Fun Color Dare Challenge for you.  This week for Color Dare #357 we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board this time we are not using a particular paper pack.  For this challenge you can use any diagonal, row or column, you can add in any of the other colors shown.  Blacks & Whites are FREE but NO other neutrals.

Black and Whites are free but NO other colors

I decided to go with the far right column with Sage, Toffee and Sapphire. I purchased the stamp set It’s a Cowgirl Thing on a flash sale but have not played with it. So I thought I would…

The stamp set is It’s a Cowgirl Thing. I used Sage, Toffee and Sapphire inks. I random stamped the horseshoes on the white using second generation Toffee ink. The flower is paper pieced together with two flowers one in Sage and one in Sapphire. The pattern paper is from True Love Paper pack. I also used the Sapphire Crochet Thread and added a few white loose sequins from the Loose Silver sequins for some bling. The other shimmer is actually a sneak peek at two new shimmer brushes. Yes, get excited as there are two more for a total of four new ones!!!

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #357  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Color Dare #356 ~ Silver or Gold

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is GOLD OR SILVER for COLOR DARE #356!  You can use two Accent Color and BLACK & WHITES are free, but NO other Neutrals.

So for me the answer was silver as I am totally a silver girl! I decided that pairing the silver with Sapphire would be great for a Christmas card. I know some of you are saying it is too early for Christmas cards….. but if you make handmade cards you know it is never to early.

I used Sapphire and Daisy White cardstock. I love our Silver Foil Paper and thought it would be great for this project. I did a search on Cricut and found this cool Fancy Snowflake. I also used the now retired embossing folder. The sentiment is a retired stamp set that just may be making a comeback…. It is called Say It In Style.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #356  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Technique Hop – Sparkle & Shine!

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on SPARKLE & SHINE.   There are so many Close to My Heart products that would fall into this catagory ~ Glitter Paper, Shimmer Brushes, Shimmer Trim, Sequins, Glitter Gems…. You get the idea.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from KATY TAYLOR’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I decided to focus on our Glitter Paper!  I also decided to have a bit of fun with the word Sparkle. Here is what I created.

This is a super fun card and was actually quite easy to make.  In fact I made a video to show you how. The Sparkle was cut on my cricut and the rest of the sentiment was written using my cricut.  I used Sugarplum Glitter Paper and Daisy White Cardstock.  The sequins are from the Silver and Crafty sets.  Yes, I am one of those who likes to sort out particular sequins for my projects.

Here is my video to walk you through how to create this card in Cricut Design Space.  Please know this is my first video of this type so I know it is a little rough but hopefully it helps you and maybe you learn a tip or two.

Here is a close up of that Sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto TERRY METZGER’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

H2H Adventure Awaits

Welcome to another week and another challenge from Heart 2 Heart!

There are so many Adventures in life and we can celebrate these moments in many way. For me I love to Scrapbook them. This spring we went on a camping trip. We went with a large group of friend (there were over 30 adults and 20 kids) to Fruita, CO. We took over most of the campground so it was fun to just let the kids run wild. This was a big step for us as this was the first time our son has camped and it has been over 40 years for myself.

We had a great time! I love this paper pack Into the Wild, it is probably one of my all time favorites from Close to My Heart!! So when I started this layout, I seriously agonized over it for three days!! You know this happens when you really love a paper pack and want everything to be perfect. Part of my struggle was I wanted to include so many photos and was trying to accomplish with just flip flaps. I finally decided to go with Pocket Plus pages so that I could incorporate some of the Picture My Life Cards from Into the Wild.

This is the base layout

I added a few details to show you some of the unique elements. For starters I used two other pattern papers to piece together with Heather and White Daisy cardstock to make the camper. I also used the grass stamp from the Happy Trails Stamp set and Thin Cut. I also used many of Into the Wild Wood Shapes.

Here is another detail showing the stamped border I created using New England Ivy ink and cardstock using the pine trees from the Happy Trails Stamp set. I used Espresso Pigment ink to stamp the logs and Intense black to stamp the fire. I then use watercolors to paint the fire.

Color Dare #355 ~ Love of Color ~ You Got this Girl

Happy Friday!  This week we have another Fun Color Dare Challenge for you.  This week for Color Dare #355 it is our Love of Color.  This week our colors are  FERN, GLACIER, CANDY APPLE, TOFFEE, ESPRESSO and GOLDRUSH.  Simply choose at least 3 of the Colors – Black and White are Free, but not other neutrals.

I chose to use Fern, Glacier, and Candy Apple along with Black and White.

Close to My Heart

One of the perks of going to the Close to My Heart Convention we are often given exclusive stamps sets.  This year was no exception.  We were giving this stamp set and the challenge to send 35 handmade cards by August 31st.  I have been working on this challenge and wanted to create one using this special stamp.  Katy Taylor created a card like this and I was inspired.  Here is mine.

I used Glacier and Candy Apple cardstock.  I stamped the Candy Apple with Candy Apple ink and Snug Backgrounds stamp set which is now retired.  The background behind the sentiment is Water Color Impressions Stamp Set which is also retired.  The pattern paper is from Sweet Girl Paper Pack.  I used my journaling pen around the edge.  The hearts were stamped and then I added liquid glass to make them shinny.  The fern twine is from my stash of retired items.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #355  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Color Dare #354 ~ Mix it Up Tic-Tac-Toe

This week we have another Fun Color Dare Challenge for you.  This week for Color Dare #354 we have our popular Tic-Tac-Toe board this time we are Mixing it Up.  For this challenge you can use any diagonal, row or column, you can add in any of the other colors.  Blacks & Whites are FREE  and Silver OR Gold are FREE but NO other neutrals!

Have you seen the amazing video that Close to My Heart put out showing how to make this fun twist on the Chevron pattern?? You can find it here on Facebook!  Here is my take on the card.

You will want to give this technique a try!  The chevrons are cut using an overlay from ARTBOOKING Cricut Cartridge. For my card I used Pewter, Charcoal, Ballerina, Pansy, Sweet Leaf, and New England Ivy.  It was so fun to make and now I want to make more!! I use the August Stamp of the Month for the sentiment.  The Sentiment is on Daisy White which was cut using the Stitched Ovals. I added a few Clear Sparkles and the bakers twine is retired.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #354 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

August Stamp of the Month ~ From Me to You

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!! This month we are featuring August’s stamp of the month ~ FROM ME TO YOU (S1908) a set of 38.

If you are coming here from KATY TAYLOR’S Blog, then you are in the right spot ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.  This month we have around 14 consultants participating this month so you are sure to be inspired.

I was inspired by a card that was given out at the Consultant Showcase  at our Close to My Heart Convention this past month.  It was made by Kathy Corson. I then saw a flower tutorial that Miss. Carrie Creations did using velum with the Stitched Flowers and decided to try.  Here is my creation.

I love these Stitched Flowers Thin Cuts!! I cut one layer in Sapphire and one layer in Velum.  I then sponged Sapphire ink over the velum.  I cut the petals down towards the center so they would curl and pop up more.  I used the fringe thin cut from the Decorative Border set to make the flower center in Sugarplum.  I curled the fringe using my quilling tool.  I used the True Love Paper Pack for the card. I paired it with the Sugarplum cardstock and glitter paper.  And a card would not be complete without a bit of bling so I added some Sugarplum glitter gems.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of AUGUST and if you spend $50 on qualifying product it could be yours for $5!!

Your next stop is along this hop is MICHELLE STEWART’S Blog, so hop on over and see what wonderful creation she has for you today.

Heart 2 Heart ~ On the Border

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This weeks challenge theme is ON THE BORDER.  For this challenge you can interpret this in any way you see fit. The first thing I  thought about was using some border stamps or possibly our thin cuts.  Here is what I created.

I had this idea to design a back to school card for my son to give to his teacher on the first day of school.  I really love the stamp set Making the Grade and wanted to create with it. I love the writing lines stamp and had an idea to use this border stamp as the main focus.  I stamped it on Lemon, Willow, Bluebird, Candy Apple, and Nectarine Cardstock.  I also love the cute pencil, ruler and apple. I stamped these then fussy cut them and colored with my alcohol markers.  I then used my Silver Sequins and created a shaker.  I love how easy it is to create a shaker as you simply need Shaker Foam & Acetate and Thin Cut Shaker Window & Confetti.

I am also linking up with a couple challenges this week:

Double Trouble Challenge ~ for their Something Anything Challange.

Simon Says Challenge ~ Bright and Cheerful

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until August 3rd to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #353 ~ Purples

Welcome to another week of Color Dare!  This week we have a good one for you.  This weeks challenge is PURPLES!  You can use up to two neutrals and BLACK & WHITES are free.

I LOVE PURPLE!!! It is my favorite color so I was excited to design something for this challenge.

I used the True Love Paper Pack for the background as it features Eggplant and the purple striped is perfect.  I used Lilac cardstock to cut the lace with the Lace Border Thin Cuts. The ribbon is retired but I still love it and have been saving for for that perfect project.  I used the Fancy Tags on White Daisy cardstock. The stamp set used is one of my all time favorites, Know I Care, unfortunately it is now retired.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #353 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.
