Technique Hop – Let’s Get Geometrical

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on accents of white on our projects! So it is up to the Maker to pick the products and how they wish to showcase. If you are coming from MICHELLE LONCAR’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 14 makers participating in this hop.

So have you ever had a concept in your mind and are excited to make it? Well I had envisioned an idea of overlapping squares creating a cool effect but when it came to execution it did not turn our quite the way I envisioned. The slimline on the other hand worked the way I planned.

For this card I use Sapphire, Lagoon and Green Apple colors. The squares are1.25 inches and I probably should have over lapped them differently so that the sides were even. Well next time. I added the stitching using my White Gel pen and added a couple of white sequins. The sentiment is from Festive Borders Stamp and Thin Cuts. I colored the letters with my TriBlend Markers.

This card turned out the way I hoped. I used the Slimline stencil which is one of the Rewards Your Way Special. I used Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Candy Apple Oxide Inks. I used a masking technique to prevent the colors from bleeding on the other when I sponged them on. I cut the Birthday using the Slimline Thin Cuts. I actually cut three layers with the Black Core Cardstock to make them have more dimension. The adorable koala is from the Smitten collection. I masked the be mine form the balloon when I stamped it so I could add a different one. I happened to have the new Craft with Heart Card Subscription on my desk and one of the “happy” worked perfectly.

Here is a close up of the layered cardstock stentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto KIM LOEWEN’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

Color Dare #479 ~ Crazy 8

Happy Friday!! Color Dare is back with another Color Dare Challenge. This week for Color Dare #479 we have our Crazy 8 Challenge. You pick four of the colors in the image to use in your project. Note that Black, White, and Gold are free to us.

I will admit this one stumped me but may that is because my head is still foggy from being sick. I went with Mocha, Sundance, Shortbread, and Harbor.

For this card I used the Barn Door Stamp set. Using Mocha ink, I stamped on the lighter side of Shortbread. I then inked the edges with Mocha and matted on Mocha cardstock. I cut a 2 inch circle using the Circle Thin Cuts on Shortbread and stamped the Embroidered Circle stamp in Mocha. The sentiment if from the For All Occasions stamp set. I added a strip of Sundance and Harbor. The leaf is a retired thin cut and was cut in Harbor.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #479 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. So I love this paper pack and think it will make some great Valentine’s creations. I decided to use it in another way. I had some photos printed and was looking for the right papers, Smitten was perfect! I used the Make it from Your Heart Volume 3 pattern 8.

I focused on the Nectarine and Capri colors. I used the a Stencil from the Stencil Bundle or Stencil Pack 2 (which is currently not available) with Spiced Marmalade and Mermaid Lagoon Distressed Oxide Inks to make the stars. I did spritz them with a fine mist of water. I used my Cricut to cut the Family and the “Time” is stamped using For All Occasions stamp set.

Here is the right side. I cut the star using my Cricut and used my White Gel Pens to create the stitched look.

Color Dare #478 ~ Neutrals Plus One Color

Welcome to Color Dare Challenge #478! For our second challenge of 2022 we are having you use neutrals plus one color. Silver and Gold are Free!!

I had been playing with the new Sweet as Honey papers and thought they would be perfect for this challenge. I went with black, grey and white with Sundance.

For this card I used Make it From Your Heart Volume 4 pattern 6. I used Sundance cardstock for the base, to cut the hexagons and bee. I used the zip strip and paper from the Sweet as Honey papers. I cut the Daisy White Cardstock and then using the honeycomb thin cut form the Sweet as Honey Cardmaking Workshop. to make a stencil. I used Sundance Ink to sponge on the color creating the honeycomb. The hexagon thin cuts are also from the Sweet as Honey Cardmaking Workshop as is the bee. I used Black Shimmer Trim under the zip strip. I added a couple of Black Dots. Then Sentiment if from my stash.

I created another using the revers of this pattern paper and changed the sentiment.

This card doesn’t quite meet the challenge requirements as it features Shortbread. But I thought it would be fun to showcase them together.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #478 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page. Technique Hop – “Accents of White”

Welcome to the Technique Hop!

This month we are focusing on accents of white on our projects! So it is up to the Maker to pick the products and how they wish to showcase. If you are coming from KIM LOEWEN’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 8 makers participating in this hop.

For my card I decided to create my own background using White Embossing Powder, Oxide Inks, Clear Shimmer Brush and White Gloss Spray. I used the If Snowflakes Were Kisses Stamp and Thin Cuts along with the Floral Snowflakes Stamp and Thin Cuts.

The first step was to stamp a few of the snowflakes onto Daisy White cardstock using VersaMark ink. I then used the White Embossing Powder. I then sponged on Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire Distressed Oxide Ink.

I spritzed the cardstock with water, then splattered the Clear Shimmer Brush and sprayed a bit of the White Gloss Spray. This photo it taken before I took my shammy and wiped the ink off the embossed snowflakes. So in the final card you notice how white the snowflakes look.

I cut the tag for the sentiment with the Buildable Tag Thin Cuts. I used the VersaMark ink and White Embossing Powder for the sentiment. I then used my White Gel Pen to make the stitching around the edge and the white accent on the nose of the polar bear. I colored the polar bear with my Tri-blend Markers and popped him up with a bit of foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!
