Technique Hop – “Just Distress Oxide It!”

Welcome to the Just Distress Oxide It Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques using Oxide Inks. I have a couple of techniques using Oxide Inks that I want to share with you. As you hop around you will see some fun ways to incorporate these oxide inks into your artwork. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 makers participating in this hop.

These are the three cards I create each using oxide inks in a different way. I will walk you through the different techniques.

For this card I used stencils with the oxide inks Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers to create the background. I then spritzed the oxide inks to create the oxidized look. I used the Hillside Cottage Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts for the fox. I also used the Hillside Cottage Shapes which I colored using the oxide inks. I used the Pumice Stone on the bunny and White Pigment in on the dot in the center of the flower. The flower on the right I use Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn. I added a few dot with Onyx Pearl.

For this card I crated a background by putting some oxide ink on my all purpose mat. I used the Hearts Background Thin Cut, Vellum and an “hello” that was cut with my Cricut and sitting in my extras cup.

You can see I placed the ink on the mat then on the right I spritzed the inks with water. I then started to smoosh the Distressed Oxide paper. Using my heat tool in between applying ink.

For the third card I used my Hexagon Stencil from Stencil pack 2.

For this card I used Candy Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Chipped Sapphire, and Seedless Preserves oxide inks to create my rainbow. I used the Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut for the sentiment, I cut the black layered hexagon freehand. The sentiment is from the stamp set that is part of the Cardmaking Craft with Heart Subscription. I added some Carnation Red Liquid Pearls to give it a bit of pop.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto WENDY KESSLER’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and happy hopping!

Happy Crafting!
