Heart 2 Heart ~ Christmas is coming Early

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

For those of us how likes to make handmade Christmas cards, you can never start early enough! For this weeks challenge our theme is Christmas is Coming Early. This could be a Card, a layout or maybe some holiday decor… it is up to you! Just remember you must use at least ONE Close to My Heart Product in your project, making sure we know what it is. Please have fun an play with us!

I designed two cards which were a snap to put together as they were cut using the Comfort and Joy Circut collection.

I cut the Deck the Halls using the Scarlet Glitter Paper. I backed it with the holly paper from the Comfort and Joy Paper Pack. There are a couple of small circles in each of the corners that I filled with Black Onyx Liquid Pearls. I use the holly leaf stamp which is from the Exclusive Album Retreat stamp set. I stamped the leaf in Avocado ink on Avocado. I had cut and added some Christmas Red Stickles to make the holly.

For this version I used Scarlet Cardstock to cut the Deck the Halls. I backed it with one of the papers from the Seasonal Mix-in paper. I used the same stamp for the holly leaves and Christmas Red Stickles for the holly. For the circles I used the Christmas Red Stickles and the Silver Stickles.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

I could not decide what I wanted to focus on … so I went for a few of my favorite things the Gnomes, Oxide Inks, and Stencils.

For this card I crated a background with Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Oxide inks. I then used the Stencil Pack #3 with Peacock Feathers on Daisy White Cardstock. I then cut the “happy” using the Simple Serif Uppercase Thin Cuts. The “Birthday” was stamped using the October Stamp of the Month ~ With All My Love. I could not resist using the adorable gnomes from the Garden Gnome Stamp and Thin Cuts. I colored the gnome and mushroom with my Triblend markers. I added a couple of Crystal Sparkles and a Bitty Sparkles that I colored with my TriBlend Markers.

For this card I use the same Garden Gnome Stamp and Thin Cuts. I cut the mushrooms from my Cricut. I made it into a card by welding two of the bases together. I cut the layers of the mushroom with Almond, Pewter, Daisy White and Lagoon Cardstock. I also adde a bit of glitter with the White Glitter Paper and Silver Stickles Glue to the belt buckle.

My last card I designed a thanks card using the Thanks Thin Cuts. I used the new Grape cardstock with Vellum as the outline. I created the sunburst pattern using Stencil Pack #3 on Daisy White Cardstock. I use Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves Oxide inks. I then wanted to add some glitter, so I added Icicle Stickle Glue to one of the layers with the stencil.

Technique Hop – “Plastic Patterns”

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

This month we are exploring techniques that use with windows or hidden objects. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’s Blog, you are on the right track! If you get lost you can find a full list of participants HERE we have about 10 makers participating in this hop.

I made these four cards out of one 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of Distressed Watercolor paper.

With these two cards I simply matted them on Nectarine and Candy Apple cardstock. I used the Black Ore paper for the thanks on the left and Charcoal for the thanks on the right. I added a few dots with my Onyx Liquid Pearls.

For these I used the stitched scalloped edge and then stamped the sentiment below. The sentiments are from the October Stamp of the Month, With all my Love. I also assed a few dots using the Onyx Liquid Pearls. I will explain how I made my paper.

My first step was to apply the oxide inks Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, and Picked Raspberry. My son actually picked the colors to use. I did blend them where they overlapped.

Then I spritzed the paper with water triggering the Oxide reaction.

The last step was to lay the Mandala Stencil from Stencil Pack One over my paper. I then used my VersaMark ink pad and applied ink. Then I removed the stencil and applied White Embossing Powder and heat set.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto LAUREN MOORE’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Heart 2 Heart ~ Stencil It

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This week the challenge is Stencil It. You may come up with another idea but using a stencil to add color or texture to your artwork. You may create your own stencil or use one that you purchased. Just remember you must use at least one Close to My Heart product in your project. Be sure to clearly indicate what product you used.

I have been having so much fun playing with the new Stencils that Close to My Heart just released. I only have Stencil pack #1 but the others are on orders.

I used Candy Apple Oxide Ink on Evergreen paper. I then decided to add Nebula Stickles Gel over the stencil to add the gold look. I used the new Stitched Scalloped Thin Cuts for the sentiment. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts. I added a bit more gold with the Gold Glitter Gems and Gold Embellishing Thread.

Here you can see the beautiful effect of the Nebula Stickle Gel.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #415 ~ Love of Color

Welcome to another week of Color Dare! This week we have a Love of Color board for you. The colors are Ballerina, Blue Belle, Sage, Evergreen, Toffee and Linen. You must choose at least 3 of the colors. You can add Black, White, Gold and Silver for free.

I chose to work with Ballerina, Blue Belle, Sage, and Toffee with Black, White, and Silver.

For this card I did do a bit of fussy cutting but I am happy with the outcome. The pattern paper if from the Seasonal Mix-in Paper Pack. I used the Stitched Florals Stamp and Thin Cuts. I also used Stitched Simple Bracket thin cuts for the sentiment. I added a couple of the Blue Belle gems and Glitter paper for the bow. I added a touch of Silver Glitter glue to the centers of the small flowers.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~  Color Dare #415 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Tall & Skinny Paw-ty Dogs

I saw where Double Trouble was having a challenge combining Tall and Skinny or Slimline cards with things with tails so I knew I wanted to play.
Thing 1: Trouble Maker
says, “I’m going to tell you a Tall Tale… but don’t let that scare you. Create a Tall and Skinny card for any occasion.”

You can stop here…
OR you can choose to include Twisted Sister’s Optional Twist below.

Thing 3: Twisted Sister
says, “I received word that we have to deliver a Tall Tail. How’s that possible? I don’t have a tail and neither do our Sneetches… Help! Create a project using a Thing with a Tail.”

This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble’s random draw if you include this twist in your project.

BUT don’t stop here… Thing 2: Double Dare:  says, “Since we do not have a scheduled partner for this challenge, you can still earn extra points for our random draw. Just use any of our previous partners with your Tall and Skinny card – with or without the twist.

I have been loving creating these slimline cards so I knew this would be fun!

I had this film strip cut a previous project so I decided to use it. I then paired it with the Let’s Paw-Ty stamp set. I colored in some fo the dogs using my Triblend Markers.

I am also going to pair this up with Crafter’s Cafe which has an anything goes Challenge. This is my first time joining them.

Heart 2 Heart ~ New to You

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This is s fun theme! You can feature a new product, a new technique, a new baby, a new house, a new pet…. you get the picture. Please join us! The only requirement is you must use at least one Close to My Heart product.

I decided to play around with my oxide inks and gloss sprays which are still new to me. I used the new stencils with Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers. I then added Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray.

I stared by sponging on the colors. I then spritzed with water so the oxide reaction would occur. Then I sprayed and splattered the gloss sprays. For this card I cut the “happy” with my Cricut using the Black Ore paper. I used the birthday form the October Stamp of the Month. I used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I used the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut for the black cardstock.

With this version used the stencil to apply the oxide inks. But before I applied the gloss spray I used the stencil as to create the doodle line like Chelsey Vorosmarty showed. I then added the Lime Gloss Spray and Turquoise Gloss Spray. For this one I cut the Happy with my Cricut, but cut 6 times and glued them together to add dimension.

Now it is your time to create something and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until October 31st to participate in this challenge. Make sure you include at least one Close to My Heart product. We love to see your inspirations!!

Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

This is such a beautiful stamp set and with all those sentiments!

I designed two cards for you today. I will start with the one on the left.

So one of our fellow Close to My Heart Makers, Chelsey Vorosmarty, and I was inspired by one of her cards to create this card. I used one of the left over Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut frames that I had left over. Because I never know when I will be able to use it. I used it like a stencil to sponge on Peacock Feathers Oxide Inks. I then spritzed it with some water. I then sprayed a bit of Lime Green Gloss Spray. I then colored the flowers with my Triblend Markers. I did add a bit of Glisten Stickles Glitter Glue to the flowers.

For this card, I stamped the heart image on Black Cardstock with White Pigment Ink and then used White Embossing Powder. I then colored the flowers and leaves using my Watercolor paint. I backed the black cardstock with Raspberry Cardstock. I did use the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts on the black cardstock.

If you love this stamp set you will want to be sure you purchase it this month as it is only available the month of OCTOBER. If you are a member of the Close To My Heart VIP program and you place a qualifying order of $50 in the US, you will get the stamp for FREE!!
