Monster Birthday Cards

I saw a birthday card posted on the Make it from Your Heart blog that I have been wanting to duplicate.  So I went to look for it on my Pinterest boards as this is where I will save things I want to go back too.  Well when I found it I realized it was from last January  ~ has it really taken me almost a year to create this card.  Well I guess better late than never?  Here is the original card and here are my versions.

Monster Birthday ~ Boy Birthday ~ Stamping techniques Kissing & Rock-n-Roll ~ Monster Birthday ~ Boy Birthday card ~ Stamping Techniques Kissing & Rock-n-Roll ~ CatScrapbooking.comThe top card uses Topiary, Sapphire and Saffron fundamental papers.  The bottom card I used Fern, and Peacock.  I used two stamping techniques to create these card.  The first was the Rock-n Roll which I used for the Happy Birthday.  I inked it in Saffron and then rolled it in Sapphire for the top card and Peacock for the bottom card.   The second technique I used is the Kissing Technique.  You can see in both cards the green balloon has a circle pattern.  Well after inking the balloon in green I touched it to a clean stamp and it removed some of the ink resulting in a pattern, then I stamped it on the card.

5746b11f-080a-4fef-b07b-3dfbb70306c2I have been having so much fun decorating and organizing my 2016 planner.  I wanted to share with you a couple things you can do to your planner.  Lets start with adding a pocket folder.   I ordered the My Crush Everyday Life Pages Z3210 as I was curious to see how I could incorporate them into my planner.  They are pretty cool and a great addition to the planner but would be great if you are interested in creating an album.  Here is how I used the pages to make a pocket folder.

Planner Pocket ~ CatScrapbooking.comIsn’t this a great feature?  And now I will show you how easy this is to make.  Plus if you make it to the end you will get to see my cute animal clips which are hiding in this photo.

Planner Pocket step 1 ~ CatScrapbooking.comThis is taking one of those My Crush Everyday Life Pages Z3210 and cutting it in half.  Then Making a tick mark at 2″ from bottom on short side and 3 1/4″ along the top long side. Planner Pocket Step 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comI then used those two tick marks and put on my score board.  I scored a straight line between those tick marks. Planner Pocket Step 3 ~

I used the new Limeade Washi Tape Z3198, the pink washi to be exact to attach the two halves to form the pocket. ****UPDATE ****** I recommend using a wider Washi tape as the seam does pop up a bit with the thin washi.Planner Pocket Step 4 ~ CatScrapbooking.comFront view.

Planner Pocket Step 5 ~ CatScrapbooking.comUsing Score tape I ran a strip along the bottom of each pocket.  This will be adhered to the pocket page. Planner Pocket Step 6 ~ CatScrapbooking.comNow are you ready to see those adorable critters??  Well I saw on Facebook and Instagram an adorable critter clip by Michele Rowley.  When I saw here I knew I needed to make some of these and here they are.

Planner Wolf Pup Clip ~ CatScrapbooking.comPlanner Fox Clip ~

I made the wolf pup using a SVG file with my Silhouette.  The fox is cut with my Cricut Explore subscription. I have one more I am considering making ~ a moose.  Then my favorite wild critters will all be represented :-).

Kaleidoscope Layout ~ Texturizing Techniques

I have a fun layout that I created using a technique I recently saw in a Close to My Heart video.  The video is about adding texture to your layout and when was designing this layout I decided to give it a try.  Here is the video which shows a couple other ideas too but I focused on the cellophane bag, ink and our cleaner.

Here is my layout:

Kaleidoscope layout ~ Springtime Wishes ~ CatScrapbooking.comTo add the Sunset and Pacifica to the background here is what I did:

Texturizing Technique ~ Step 1 ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen just adding a spritz or two of the CTMH Stamp cleaner results in beading of the ink.

Texturizing Techniques ~ Step 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comI then just rubbed the cellophane bag around the paper an viola a unique textured background.

Texturizing Technique ~ Kaleidoscope Layout ~ CatScrapbooking.comSo simple but it creates a unique affect.

Believe Shadow Box

So one of our fellow Close to My Heart consultants Michelle Snyder, designed this fabulous layout in our Colonial White Shadow Box as a Operation Smile fundraiser.  The response was so overwhelming that she shared her creation with her fellow convention going consultants.  I truly love this layout and will look forward to hanging it every year.

Believe Shadow Box ~ White Pines ~ CatScrapbooking.comIsn’t this just beautiful!  Just remember at the end of this month you will no longer be able to order the White Pines Paper pack.

Everything ABC’S ~ Z

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “Z”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Z” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from DIANA SAUNDERS’ Blog then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants at the bottom of this post.

The letter “Z” can also be a difficult letter to come up with ideas for there is always the ZipStrips at the top of the Close to My Heart paper.  But I thought I remembered a fancy fold card that started with “Z” so I went to my Pinterest  boards and there it was…..Upright Z Fold card.  So that is what I set out to make. Here is the final product then I will walk you through the steps.

Upright Z Fold front ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ This is what is looks like from the front. Now let me show you how it was made.Upright Z-fold card Step 1 ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.comStarting with an 11″x 4 1/4″ piece of paper which will be you card base and your final card will be 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ when folded flat. Score along horizontal edge at 2 3/4″ and at 5 1/2″.
Upright Z-fold card Step 2 ~ ABC's Z ~ White Pines ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen you will adhere your pattern paper to the top and bottom of the card.  You can use the same or mix up the paper.  The bottom measurement is 4 ” x 2 1/2″ and the top is 4″x 5 1/4″ (sorry I made a mistake on the text in the photo).Upright Z Fold Step 3 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's ~ CatScrapbooking.comZI cut the Holly Border #m418E9A from the Artisty cartridge cut at 1.01″ high by 3.62″ high.  I cut this three times two Fern and one in Chocolate.  The two fern ones I trimmed the fern looking leaves leaving the holly leaves and balls. In the photo above I am using the cocoa and the first fern cut.Upright Z Fold Step 4 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere I am attaching the second Fern holly but I am only attaching it at the top.  This will allow me to slide the card front between the two Fern cuts and help hold the card in the Upright Z.  I added some gems.Upright Z Fold Step 5 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~  I then attached the front panel which is cut at 3 1/4″ x 4″ and the insert which I embossed is cut at 3″ x 3 3/4″.Upright Z Fold side ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbook.comHere is the side view of the completed card.

Now it is time to hop on over to DARLYS RECKER’S Blog and see what she has created for you today.

Christmas Cards ~ Studio J Style

Have you finished sending out your Christmas cards?  Don’t panic if you haven’t as you still have time.  I am wrapping up mine as we speak.  Last year I made over 200 cards for my husband and our personal cards.  This year the number stays the same but I turned to Studio J for the bulk of my cards.  I did still create all of the cards, but most of them were photo cards this year.  I wanted to share with you my Studio J cards as they are a fun and easy way to make cards for Holidays, Birthday invitations and Parties.

Studio J ~ Christmas Cards ~ Jingle & Mistletoe ~ CatScrapbooking.comThe way I did these is using the No Limits pattern and I designed 3 different two page layouts then just printed multiple copies.  I was able to get four of the 4 X 8″ cards on each 12×12″ layout using the Jingle paper collection.  For the Believe cards I was able to get six 4×6″ cards per layout and used the Mistletoe paper collection.

Studio J ~ Christmas Cards ~ Believe ~ Studio J Christmas Cards ~ Believe ~

These are both using the Believe paper collection.  I did change the blue polka-dot paper to the red and green by unchecking the full color under the pattern papers and selecting the color I wanted them to be.  I love this feature as it helps to give you more options.

I love the way I was able to design so many different cards some fun and some more traditional.
