ABC’s Blog Hop ~ J

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog Hop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “J”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “J” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LINDA NORMAN’S Blog  then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

I was trying to decide what would be my “J” element … Juniper, Jewelry… Jewels!  Yes, Jewels, all those shinny, blingy items would be prefect to use for a project.  Now how to use them…. what about doing something similar to the Happy Canvas on page 33 of the new Seasonal Expressions 2?  Perfect…. I love the heart with the sequins on our 6 x 6 canvas but to make it mine I changed the color to Thistle and instead of using sequins, I used some of the purple (my favorite color) gems/ jewels.

ABC's J ~ Canvas ~ thistle ~ carscrapbooking.comI cut the heart from Artiste pg 51 at 3 1/2″ and the Happy is from Artbooking pg 75 and is cut at 2″.

Items used:

  • My Creations Canvas 6 x 6 Z1818
  • Cardstock ~ Thistle, Whisper & Colonial White
  • Thistle Extra Thick Twine Z3040
  • Jewels ~ Purple Jewels (retired), Sparkles Red, Pink & Purple (retired) and Purple Glitter Gems Z1936

I so love the way this turned out and it will be hung in my craft room.  Now hop on over to MARIE GOETZ’S Blog to see what she has created for you today.

I love the vibrant colors of this paper pack!  I decided to create some flowers cards.  It was fun creating these and mixing up the sayings and color combinations.Taste of Summer Card 1 ~ Flower ~ Happy Everything ~ Catscrapbooking.comThe flower was created by using a die that I had but could be done just as easily with your Cricut or Silhouette. The bottom color of the flower is cut at 2″ and the rosette is actually two 1 1/2″ circles that are scored, accordion folded, and then attached together.  The flower stem is from Art Philosophy and cut at 2.4″ high.  The grass border is from Artbooking and is cut at 4″ wide.  Here are some other varieties:

Teacher Appreciation

This week is Teacher Appreciation week May 4th to 8th.   This year Gavin started Preschool so it is the first year I have needed to create cards for Teacher Appreciation.  I love the stamp set Teacher Appreciation D1612

I had seen a card on Pinterest by Blythe which used a notebook style paper stamped with the ruled line which was my inspiration.  I has a lot of fun and created several versions.

Teacher Appreciation ~ CTMH ~ Chalk it Up 5 ~

Then notebook paper is a Cricut cut from the Artbooking cartridge pg 41. I cut it at 3.25″ wide by 4.33″ high. The tab at the top comes from the Art Philosophy cartridge pg 58.  It was cut at 1.54″ wide by .54″ high.

Teacher Appreciation ~ CTMH ~ Chalk it Up 4 ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Shin Han markers to color in the owl.

Teacher Appreciation ~ CTMH ~ Chalk it Up 3 ~

For this one I backed the notebook in Lagoon to help make it pop a bit more on the pattern paper.Teacher Appreciation ~ CTMH ~ Chalk it Up 2 ~

Tribute to Ringle

It has been almost three years since we lost our first Siberian Husky, Ringle.  Since that time we have lost two more of our dogs.  It has been tough losing our four legged family members, but having them in our life has been so worth the heartache.   I decided it was time to tackle my last layout of Ringle.  I think I have been avoiding it as I did not want feel the emotions again.

Here is what I designed ~

Pet Layout ~ Proplayer ~ catscrapbooking.comI am really happy the way this layout turned out.  For this layout I used the following productsL

  • Proplayer paper pack (retired)
  • Basic Fundamental Paper Pack
  • Cardstock ~ Whisper, Pacific, White Daisy and Black
  • Embellishments ~ Black Shimmer Trim, Slate Diagonal Ribbon, & Silver Sequins
  • Cricut ~ I found the heart with the paw print on with my subscription.
  • Paw Print border ~ from my stash
