Blossom Explosion Box

I have something special to share with you today.  I have been wanting to do one of those cool explosion boxes I have been seeing and I was needing a special anniversary card for my husband to celebrate our 15 year anniversary which is today.  I thought the explosion box would work well as I could find a photo from the year we met which was 1996 and go all the way to this year this would give me 20 photos ~ prefect.

Well the concept worked great in my head and I was able to assemble the box pretty quickly.  But when it came time to pull the photos, this is where things got interesting.   I realized that just 15 years ago I was still using a film camera and not digital and most of my original photographs are on film and not on a CD. The good news was they were in albums so I could just scan the photo and then reprint. This worked well as the oldest photos would be my smallest.  I had archived most of my photos to CD as there are so many and I don’t need every photograph from the past on my laptop.  When I went to pull them on to computer I realized that with my new laptop I didn’t have a disc drive so I would have to order one to complete this project.  The past 5 years was the easy part as those photos are readily accessible.

Well enough about my struggles with collecting my photos.  I used Studio J to print my photos using the express collection photo wells.  If you want to learn how to do this check out this blog post. Here is how the box turned out.  I have not been able to give it to my husband yet as for the second year in a row he has been out of town, but he will be home late tonight and will see it then.

Explosion Box top~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comI really love the Lagoon heart washi tape and it worked perfectly as a pattern paper to back my sentiment.  The washi tape was put on White Daisy cardstock, I did have to line up a row as I needed it to be about 1 1/4 inch in width and the tape is only 1″ wide.  The sentiment is from The Happy Couple D1539.

Explosion Box inside 1 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comYes the year 2000 was when we were married so I added the hearts.

Explosion Box inside 2 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comIt was really fun putting this together after I was able to over come the obstacles trying to locate photos 🙂

Happy Crafting!
