1909426_10206555217145409_3293653040187059854_oI adore this stamp set as it is fun and cheerful.  I have so many ideas for this stamp set mostly it involves kids (big and small) birthday cards.  I feel like most of the cards I create are geared to adults and I could really use some fun ones.  I have been seeing a lot of shaker cards being created on Pinterest, I have been inspired to give one ago.  I had used shakers on some scrapbook layouts about 10 years ago so it would be fun to do one on a card.   And to me this stamp set would be perfect!!

Ice Cream Dream ~ June 2015 SOTM ~ Shaker card ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this project I used the following products ~ Adventure Fundamental papers, Lagoon and White Daisy cardstock.  The “happy birthday” if from Joyful Birthday B1419.  I used my Shin Han markers to color in the adorable puppy.  I did use some metal dies to cut my circle but it could be done using a punch, Cricut or Silhouette.  I used foam sheets from a craft store to act as the spacer between the card base and the top.  I love CTMH sequins but I used some from my stash to float in the card.

Teacher Thank You Cards

I posted a couple of days ago the gift that I made for my son’s Pre-school teachers. I figured today I would share the cards that I made. I LOVE the Chalk it Up paper pack and knew it was my paper pack of choice for my Teacher thank you cards.

Teacher card ~ Chalk it up ~Teacher Appreciation ~ catscrapbooking.comHow fun is this card? I am having so much fun with my teacher theme cards that I want to so some more for next year 🙂 I love showing my appreciation to teachers, I’ve already got loads of things planned for when my son is older. I’m going to introduce the teachers to gradecam, get them helpful equipment and all sorts! Anyway, for the card I used my Cricut to cut the apple and star. The star is actually just one of the basic shapes offered with the Cricut Design Space. The Apple is from my Cricut subscription. I used Chalk it Up, Lagoon, White Daisy, Flaxen and Sorbet cardstock. The ruler/tape measure image is actually from Washi Wonder D1558 (retired hostess exclusive stamp set) which was stamped in Flaxen ink and then fussy cut. I used the Teacher Appreciation stamp set D1612 to create the grid lines on the White Daisy star and to stamp the pencil. Inside the card I used the “thank you” sentiment and the “for all your dedication and effort this school year”. The Lag0on wavy strip at the bottom is from my scraps of previously cut items.

End of School

Wow~ I cant believe Gavin is finishing his first year of Pre-school.  He has really enjoyed it and it has been so great for him in his development.  I wanted to thank his two teachers who have been so wonderful to him.   I saw some really cool vases on Pinterest which were lined with pencils and thought this would be a great gift.  Here is my take on them.

Pencil vase ~ Teacher gift ~ End of school ~ catscrapbooking.comI found a square vase at Michaels that would work.  It is actually about 1 inch shorter than the pencils but not a problem since it is not seen.  I used E6000 glue to attach the pencils to the glass vase.  I am planning to add some fresh flowers before I deliver them today.

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ K

Welcome to the EVERYTHING ABC’S Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog Hop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “K”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “K” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LINDA NORMAN’S Blog  then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

I was looking through CardMaker’s magazine ~ their Beautiful Blooms edition. I stumbled on a fancy fold technique called Kusudma Flower and was intrigued.  I decided I wanted to give it a go. It was fun to do and I have the steps on creating this flower below.  Here is how it turned out:

Kusudama Flower ~ Blossom ~ Taste of Summer #ctmhtos ~ catscrapbooking.com1d7f8566-fc70-4f67-971c-36c9be4e878a

I did not add a sentiment to this card as I was not sure what occasion I wanted to use it for.  Since the flowers are quite 3D it is not the easiest card to mail.  So I figured I would wait for the right occasion that it could go in a package or be hand delivered and it would only take a minute to add.  I used the blossom paper with some teal shimmer trim and Blue & Green Epoxy Bubbles.  The stamp set is the Taste of Summer special stamp set that is only available this month.

1d7f8566-fc70-4f67-971c-36c9be4e878aNow hear is how to make those fun flowers.  The larger flower I used 2″ x 2″ squares and for the smaller two flowers I used 1 1/2″ by 1 1/2″

Kusudama Flower Petal ~ fancy fold ~ catscrapbooking.comI did forget on last step and that is to trim the point  which I am holding in the photo off.  This will allow you to have a flat surface to adhere to your project.  Also hot glue was really the only thing that would hold these petal together.

Blossom Explosion Box

I have something special to share with you today.  I have been wanting to do one of those cool explosion boxes I have been seeing and I was needing a special anniversary card for my husband to celebrate our 15 year anniversary which is today.  I thought the explosion box would work well as I could find a photo from the year we met which was 1996 and go all the way to this year this would give me 20 photos ~ prefect.

Well the concept worked great in my head and I was able to assemble the box pretty quickly.  But when it came time to pull the photos, this is where things got interesting.   I realized that just 15 years ago I was still using a film camera and not digital and most of my original photographs are on film and not on a CD. The good news was they were in albums so I could just scan the photo and then reprint. This worked well as the oldest photos would be my smallest.  I had archived most of my photos to CD as there are so many and I don’t need every photograph from the past on my laptop.  When I went to pull them on to computer I realized that with my new laptop I didn’t have a disc drive so I would have to order one to complete this project.  The past 5 years was the easy part as those photos are readily accessible.

Well enough about my struggles with collecting my photos.  I used Studio J to print my photos using the express collection photo wells.  If you want to learn how to do this check out this blog post. Here is how the box turned out.  I have not been able to give it to my husband yet as for the second year in a row he has been out of town, but he will be home late tonight and will see it then.

Explosion Box ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comThe flowers an leaves are cut using my Cricut.  The flowers came from the Artiste cartridge and the leaves came from Artbooking.  I used my triangle punch to make the band around the box and backed it in the teal shimmer trim.

Explosion Box top~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comI really love the Lagoon heart washi tape and it worked perfectly as a pattern paper to back my sentiment.  The washi tape was put on White Daisy cardstock, I did have to line up a row as I needed it to be about 1 1/4 inch in width and the tape is only 1″ wide.  The sentiment is from The Happy Couple D1539.

Explosion Box open ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comHere is what it looks like when it is open.  I used Aqua Dots, Oceanside and Coral Reef sequins to add a little extra to each flap.  The outer most layer the panels are 4″ squares.  The middle layer is 3 3/4″ square and the inner panel is 3 1/2 ” square.

Explosion Box inside 1 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comYes the year 2000 was when we were married so I added the hearts.

Explosion Box inside 2 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comIt was really fun putting this together after I was able to over come the obstacles trying to locate photos 🙂

Technique Blog Hop ~ A Bit of Blot

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!10408737_10152825873362934_5451681359892116939_nThis month we are featuring a technique called ~ A Bit of Blot which can be found on page 55 of the Annual Inspirations Idea book.  This technique is fun and easy as there is no wrong way to do it 🙂  This month we have 11 consultants featuring artwork using this technique so you will definitely be inspired.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from SHEILA BENNETT’s Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

I used a large block and added a bit of Thistle ink using a dauber to the block then spritzed with water using a spray pen then stamped it on my White Daisy Cardstock.  I repeated the technique with Pixie to create my background.  I then used Dizzy Circles stamp set and added a few spirals (I have to say this stamp set reminds me of my childhood with my Spirograph).

For this card I used the following products:

Taste of Summer ~ Strawberry Pickin’

Have you heard the news?  Close to My Heart has come out with a fun, bright, colorful paper pack to celebrate National Scrapbooking Month called TASTE OF SUMMER.  I love this paper pack and have been having so much fun crating with it.

Taste of SummerDon’t you just love all the fun colors?  It has really gotten me excited for summer.  When I saw the strawberry paper and the strawberry stamps with the corresponding Taste of Summer Stamp Set, I knew it would be perfect for our Strawberry Pickin’ photos from last year.

Taste of Summer stampHere is my layout:

Strawberry Pickin Layout ~ Taste of Summer ~ #ctmhtos ~ #ctmh ~

I was inspired by some layouts created by the talented Susan Williams to use the Framework Alphabet for my title.  I thought it would be fun to use a strawberry for the “a”.   To give the strawberries a little something extra, I stamped them with pigment inks and then applied Liquid Glass.

The flowers are from my Cricut Design Space Subscription ~Home for the Holidays – Spring. They are cut at 1.5″, 1.25″ and 1″.

Stampers with Attitude ~ Taste of Summer

Welcome to the Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop!!  The Stampers with Attitude is the team lead by Kimberly Moss.  This month the Stampers with Attitude are going to be showcasing art work featuring the Taste of Summer Paper Pack!

I have been working on seasonal home decor for our house and love creating banners and wreaths.  I am needing some summer decorations and when I saw this paper pack I knew it was prefect!!!  I wanted to make a summer banner and planned to do it all in cardstock but I then found these burlap 4 x 4″ squares at Michaels and knew they would be prefect.

Taste of Summer ~ National Scrapbooking Month ~ #CTMHTOS ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Cricut to cut the frames.  I used the 4 x4 photo frame from pg 81 in the Artbooking cartridge. The larger is cut at 3.5″ by 3.5 ” (I did unlock them in Design Space to make frame square) and the smaller is 3.25″ x 3.25″.  I used Pickwick font to crate the “SUMMER” on my Cricut Explore, but in order to create the outlined I used my Silhouette (as I am not aware of Cricut’s ability to do this using Design Space).

Taste of Summer Banner ~ S ~ National Scrapbooking Month ~ #CTMHTOS ~ catscrapbooking.comI used liquid glass on the center of the fruit to give it the shine and effect of being juicy. Taste of Summer Banner ~ U ~ National Scrapbooking Month ~ #CTMHTOS ~
