Snowhaven Fun

With the holidays over, I am finally feeling like I am getting back into crafting.  I think I have finally settled in to a routine now that we are settled and I have been able to compensating for Gavin giving up his naps (my craft time).  It has taken a while to figure out how and when I can craft.  Lets just say I have started off with a very productive bang and it feels fabulous.

I have been loving Snowhaven paper pack and could not wait to create a layout using it.  I designed this layout and will be able to show you the layout and then with photos.  If you are interested in this layout as a kit feel free to contact me and I will work up the cost for you.

Snow haven Layout ~

I have tons of snow photos which I need to scrapbook so this paper pack is perfect.  It can be used for other layouts but I really wanted to do a snow theme layout.

Snow haven Layout ~ catscrapbooking.comI added some additional texture to the final layout with Stickles.  It is hard to see from this photo but I did add some Clear Stickles to several of the snowflakes to make them pop a bit more.

Item used for these layouts:

  • Paper Pack ~ Snowhaven X7188B
  • Complements ~ Snowhaven X7188C
  • Bling ~ Clear Sparkle Assortment Z1752, Pink Glitter Gems Z1807
  • Shimmer Trim ~ White Z3024
  • Journaling pen

I can’t wait to plan my next project with Snowhaven…. Until then, happy crafting!

Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop ~ Love Close to My Heart

Welcome to the Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop!! The Stampers with Attitude is the team lead by Kimberly Moss.  This month the Stampers with Attitude are going to be showcasing what we LOVE about Close to My Heart artwork.   If you are just hopping here from JEN PATRICK’S Bl0g  then you are in the right spot. The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants at the end of this blog.

Where do I even begin ….. There are so many things I love about Close to My Heart!!!  Lets see …. Paper, Stamps, Albums, Embellishments, friends, Art Philosophy, Artise, Artbooking, Artfully Sent, inks, colors….. you get the idea. I guess if I had to pick my top few things it would be:

1) the wonderful assortment of paper packs that are offered and the colors; as my true passion is for scrapbooking (although I really love all paper crafts).

2) the fun embellishment – whether it is ribbon, compliments, assortments, gems, I love them all but my go to embellishment is bling and shimmer trim.

3) the wonderful albums which are offered to hold all my memory keeping.

So let my share with you just some of the things I love about Close to My Heart with this layout I created using Heartstrings paper pack, shimmer trim and some hearts.

Color Dare #125 ~ Snowhaven

This week on Color My Heart we are featuring a new challenge Color Dare #125, which features Cranberry, Glacier, White Daisy, Black and Whisper.  All of these colors are found in the Snowhaven paper pack which I adore!!

Please note we have changed the challenges this year and have added neutrals to the color combinations this year. This means you may not add random neutral colors to your projects. You must use ONLY the colors specified. However, we will allow black and white, unless otherwise specified.

Color Dare #125

I have been needing to change out the shadow box from which I have hanging in our house.  I had designed one for autumn but needed to do one for winter.  So I finally made it a priority since I finished with my christmas cards.  I really love the Snowhaven paper pack and can’t wait to design more layouts.  I have been designing my shadow box inserts so they can be changed out with the seasons using the hook and loop dots, which are just mini velcro dot which are prefect for attaching your artwork. I also design the photo frame so that it is more of a pocket and the photos can be changed out each year.

Just Chillin Snowhaven ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this layout I used my Artbooking cartridge to cut out the Just Chillin’ and snowflakes.  They can be found on pg 76 of the Artbooking booklet.  I was very lucky to receive a Cricut Expolore for Christmas from my husband and I have to say I am really liking this machine.  My expression would not always act normal when I used CCR on my Mac and it would get very frustrating.  The Explore has been way to learn and great for when you want to look at layered items.  I guess it was easy for me to catch on since it is more similar to my Silhouette.  I prefer to work on my cut files on my computer because that is what I have been doing with my Silhouette for years.  To add a little more shimmer I added a little Crystal Stickles to my White Daisy snowflakes along with some bling.

Supplies used:

  • Paper Pack ~ Snowhaven X7188B
  • Cardstock ~ Cranberry & White Daisy
  • Embellishments ~ Sparkle Clear Assortment Z1752, Pink Glitter Gems Z1807 & Stickles
  • Shimmer Trim ~ White Z3024
  • Complements ~ Snowhaven X7188C

We would love for you to play along this week.  Just go to Color My Heart blog and link up your design.

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ A

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!  We have reset the alphabet and starting again from the letter A.  I am making it my personal goal to make it for every letter.  I missed two last year but not bad 🙂

ABC's Blog Hop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “A”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “A” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY .  If you just came from Linda’s Blog then you are in the right place.

Now that all the decorations have come down the house feels a bit empty.  I decided I really like having a wreath on the inside of one of my doors and now it looks empty.  So why not make a wreath to take its place that has a winter feel since we are in below freezing temps here in Colorado.  I remember seeing the wonderful Snowhaven wreath featured on page 74 of the Annual Inspirations Idea Book and knew this would be perfect.  I used my new Cricut Explore and the Artiste cartridge to create the bow and rosettes.  I had a bit of a learning curve trying to find my Artiste images but once I learned about the codes I was all set!  So my “A” elements are Artiste and Snowhaven Assortment.

Snow haven Wreath ~ Artiste ~ Catscrapbooking.comI did make a few modifications from the one in the Idea Book, I only had one Snowhaven Assortment and Complement but they used two of each.  So I used some buttons from my stash to fill in as the centers of the rosettes.  I also decided to use the black pattern paper instead of just solid back cardstock.  I did back the bow in black cardstock so the busy pattern on the reverse would not distract from the elegance of the bow.  I cut three rosettes at one inch, seven at 1 1/2 inch and five at 2 inch.  The bow was cut at 2 1/4 inch and the tabs were at 3 inches.  The Artiste cuts can be found on pg 55 of the handbook.

Here are a couple closer photos of the details.

Close up Snowhaven Wreath ~

I did use some mat board that I had to create the circle to mount all the rosettes to.  You can not see it but it does provide a stable surface so the project can be hung.

Color Dare #124 ~ Glacier, Kraft and Daisy White

Welcome to a new year with Color My Heart Color Dare.  This year we are changing things up a bit, this year the colors combinations will include neutral if they are allowed.  The exceptions are black and white which can be used for sentiments and outlines unless otherwise noted.  This week for Color Dare #124 the colors are Glacier, White Daisy and Kraft.

Color Dare #124

These colors spoke to me of winter and with all the white on the ground I knew a snow scene was in order.  I pulled out a retired stamp set that I love ~ All Decked Out D1308.  I know embossing would be the perfect key to getting my white and a little interest.

Color Dare #124 ~ Glacier, Kraft and White ~

Color Dare #124 ~ Glacier, Kraft and White inside ~ catscrapbooking.comI could not resist photographing this card outside since it was a beautiful sunny day after a fresh snowfall.  The sky was so blue with that white snow.  I did have a little water get on the inside of the card at the bottom while photographing but it dried fine.  For this card I used the following products:

  • Cardstock ~ Kraft and White Daisy.
  • Paper Pack ~ Snowhaven (I only used the Zip Strip)
  • Embossing ~ White embossing powder, Versamark, Craft Heater
  • Stamp Sets ~ All Decked Out D1308 (retired), Shredding the Slopes D1603 and Hand Lettered Winter Wishes (Simon Says Stamp set)
  • Thin Foam tape

Now how about you giving it a try?  Just create your card, layout, or craft and hop on over to Color My Heart and link you creation HERE.
