Merry Christmas!!

Happy Holidays!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful time with family and friend celebrating the holidays.  I want to thank all of you who follow and read my blog!  I love sharing my artwork with you and love when you leave feed back.  I have one last card to share with you for the holiday.

Deer card ~ merry Christmas ~

I saw a version of this card on Pinterest which is from Peppermint Patty’s Papercraft and knew it was one I needed to do.  I love this deer from Lawn Fawn In the woods, it is so precious and using the Lawn Fawn die it makes it easy to cut it out – no fussing cutting!  I knew that I wanted to emboss the snowflakes and when I went to do that some of the embossing powder stuck to the trees which made it look like snow.  It was a happy accident.

Suplies used:

  • Non CTMH Stamp sets ~ Lawn Fawn – In the Woods and Figgy Pudding – Basic Gray.
  • CTMH Stamp Sets ~ Perfect fit Holidays, Shredding the Slopes, Best Christmas, Merry Merry and Frosted WOTG
  • Inks ~ Ruby, Ponderosa pine, and Momento ink
  • Embossing ~ Versamark ink and white embossing powder
  • Markers ~ Copic and Shin Han

Happy holidays and a wonderful new year!

More PML Christmas Cards

Well I did it!!! I finish making all 120 of my Christmas cards and they a in the mail!!  I can now just focus on the baking and cooking!  Since I shared the Picture My Life cards I made using the 4X6 cards already which you can find here.  I thought I would show you some of the ones I used creating the 3X4 cards.

3x4 PML cards ~ Pear & Partridge ~

It was so fun and easy to make these awesome cards.  I used embossing folders, ribbon, cardstock and embellishments. I has some of the Pear & Partridge paper pack so I was able to incorporate that into the cards.  I also have TONS of ribbon an in my stash I found several which would work with these cards.  Then a little shimmer trim, sequins and gems and presto fun festive holiday cards.

Here is a close up of one of the cards I designed using one of the new embossing folders ~ Scalloped. Plus I used our new white shimmer trim and one of my Shin Han markers and now I have green shimmer trim.

Happy Holidays ~ PML

Happy Holidays and Happy Crafting!

Christmas Gifts

Do you like to make your own gifts?  Consider using the Close to My Heart Base and Bling line.  It is so easy to make a unique gift using the wonderful assortment of pendants – round, square, oval or rectangle.  You have your choice of silver or antiqued gold.  Then you can choose your own design for the pendent or use some to the sticker sheets that CTMH offers (you can see the choice here)  I decided to make a few necklaces as christmas gift for some family members ~ including myself 🙂

Polar bear necklaces ~ Base & Bling ~ catscrapbooking.comAren’t these polar bears adorable??? I had this pattern paper for many years now waiting for the “right” project.  Well I decided this would be the prefect project for them.  I used a 1″ circle punch to cut the two on the outsides and then fussy cut the one in the middle.  I added some Stickles to the two on the with the hat to make the appearance of snow.  I used CTMH teal glitter paper to back the bear I fussy cut.  Then using the Artiste cartridge I cut this cute pocket envelope to hold the necklaces.

Silver bear ~ Base & Bling ~

ABC’c Blog Hop ~ Z

ABC's Blog HopWelcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “Z”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Z” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY .  If you just came from LAUREN MOORE’S Blog then you are in the right place.

For my “Z” element I choose Zipstrip.  What is a Zipstrip you ask?  Well when you purchase the paper packs from Close to My Heart you have probable seen that strip of different pattern at the top of all the pattern papers.  On one side it tells you the paper pack and colors associated with that particular pack.  Well those Zipstrips are awesome for giving you coordinating patterns to accent your artwork.  Since I have been on my Christmas card marathon it was an easy way to add the right touch to this card.

ABC's Z ~ Snowhaven ~ October SOTM ~ Catscrapbooking.comSupplies used for this card:

  • Paper Pack ~ Snowhaven
  • Cardstock ~ Whisper and Daisy White
  • Stamp Sets ~ October 2014 SOTM Home for the Holidays and Wintery Wishes (a prior hostess exclusive stamp set)
  • Inks ~ Glacier, Black, Cranberry and Whisper

Christmas Cards using Picture My Life

I mentioned in a prior post that I decided to make all my Christmas cards.  Yes, I realize this is a large undertaking particularly since it means about 100 cards (this includes my husbands work cards too).   I had great intentions to start these earlier but you know how that goes with a three year old who gave up naps.  I wanted to make a variety of cards and I did use the wonderful Cut Above to help make a dent in the number of cards, but I still had quite a few more to make.  So I decided I would use the Picture My Life card particularly the Pear and Partridge and turn them into cards.   Now with the new option of ordering the PML cards A La Carte it make it even easier; you get 44 – 4″ × 6″ Cards (2 each of 22 designs) and 78 – 3″ × 4″ Cards (3 each of 26 designs) so you could make a ton of cards for only $14.95.

What makes using the PML cards so fabulous is most of the work is done for you, all I did was add some bling for the most part.  Check out the 18 cards I created (there are two of each design).

PML Holiday Cards ~ Pear & Partridge ~ catscrapbooking

Don’t you just love them and they were seriously so simple!  Cardstock, sequins, clear sparkles, pink glitter gems, bakers twine, shimmer trim, glitter paper and Bling Gems is all it took.  I highly recommend giving these a try as you will be amazed on how easily they come together.  You can check out all the PML kits right HERE.

Snowhaven Notecard Kit

I so enjoy making things and since we are in the holiday season, one of my favorite things is to make gifts for people.  I have a few people who are a little difficult  to purchase things for, so making them a gift is the perfect solution.  This notecard kit worked our nicely for Christmas gifts for a few of the people on my list.  I designed this kit based on a design from the very talented Lisa Stenz.  She presented some absolutely beautiful artwork at the Close to My Heart Convention this summer.  You can check out her design HERE.  I actually designed this many months ago but keep forgetting to post it on my blog.  So better late than never 🙂 .

Snowhaven note cards ~ https://catscrapbooking.comThe kit includes all the material needed to complete two of each card with envelopes and the notecard box. The stamp set used is Big Hug D1584 and can be purchased separately.  I realized the Snowhaven kit is really quite versatile in that it can clearly be used for other things than just snow theme.

Snowhaven note card box ~

The new Glacier color is really a beautiful blue and complements so many colors.  Here with the black it really pops.  The flowers and leaves were all cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.   I did ink the edges of the flowers and pinched them to give them more texture and depth.

Snowhaven note card 3 ~

Snowhaven note card 2 ~ https://catscrapbooking.comThis card is really neat as the lower part with the flowers swings open.  This gives you plenty of room to write your note.

Snowhaven note card 1 ~

I did change this card a tiny bit for the kits.  Since I do the embossing for you, when you purchase a kit there will be a 3/4 inch non embossed area where the sentiment goes so you will be able to add your sentiment.

Snowhaven Notecard Kit $20 plus shipping includes:

  • My Creations Journaling Cards Box
  • 43 Cricut flowers
  • 12 Cricut leaves
  • 2 Snowhaven Pattern papers
  • 2 Glacier Cardstock
  • Precut Daisy White Cardstock
  • 6 Daisy White Envelopes
  • 4 Daisy White Card Bases
  • 2 Daisy White Embossed Card pieces
  • Clear Assortment Sparkles
  • Cutting Guide with photos

Technique Blog Hop~ Irresistible Texture

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

Technique blog badge - Irresistable

This month there are 7 of us highlighting the Irresistible Texture which is featured on page 11 of the new Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book.  Irresistible Texture can be created by using Close to My Hearts fabulous embossing folders.  There are 4 new ones (Hearts, Vine, Diamond and Scallop) in the Seasonal Expressions 1.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’S Blog, you are on the right track!

Heartstrings ~ Love Ya Silly ~

I so love embossing folders as they give texture to solid cardstock.  One of the unique features of Close to My Heart cardstock is the white core. So after you use the embossing folders you can come back with a sanding block and turn the embossed area white!! This is what I did with the hearts. I also used a white pen to accent parts of the stamped images.  I also did a little paper piecing to make the eyes of these adorable monsters pop.

Products used:

  • Cardstock ~ Cranberry 1272, Whisper X5929 and Lagoon X5762
  • Paper Pack ~ Heartstrings X7193B
  • Stamp Set ~ Love Ya Silly B1470
  • Ink ~ Daisy WhiteZ2163, LagoonZ2195 , Chrystal Blue Z2117, and Hollyhock Z2128
  • Shimmer Trim ~ Z3024
  • Puffies ~ Stuck on You Z3037
  • Embossing Folder ~ Hearts Z3018

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto TONYA WHITEHURST’S Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

Stampers with Attitude ~ Happy Holidays Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop!! The Stampers with Attitude is the team lead by Kimberly Moss.  This month the Stampers with Attitude are going to be showcasing Happy Holidays based artwork.   If you are just hopping here from SHEILA BENNETT’S Bl0g  then you are in the right spot. The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants at the end of this blog.

I wanted to get ahead and create a Christmas layout so that once Christmas is over I can just drop the photos in and hopefully stay on top of things.  Well that is the thought process but reality is it still takes me months to print my photos.  Well at least the hard part is done the designing :-).

Here is my layout I designed using Yuletide Carol paper pack.

Yuletide Layout ~ We Believe ~ Catscrapbooking.comFor this layout I used both my Silhouette and Cricut to make cuts.  The poinsettias and journaling shape are cut using the Artiste and Art Philosophy cartiges.  The circle, title and flourish were cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  I designed this layout with flip flaps in mind as it would be easy to add them depending on the number of photos taken at Christmas.

List of products used:

  • Paper Pack~ Yuletide Carol
  • Cardstock ~ Cashmere, New England Ivy, Ruby and Colonial White
  • Cricut Cartridges ~ Art Philosophy and Artiste
  • Embellishments ~ Gold Sequins Z2012, Gold Shimmer TrimZ1985
  • Makers ~ Journaling pen and Carmine ShinHan Marker Z2448

Now hop on over to DEBBIE ANDREWS Blog and see what holiday creation she has designed for you today.

If you get lost along the way here is the full list of participating consultants.

Color Dare #122 ~ PML Card

Welcome to this weeks Color Challenge!  This week we are featuring Sorbet, Cranberry, Olive and New England Ivy for Color Dare #122.

Color Dare #122Well this year I decided I would make all of our Christmas Cards, which works out to be about 100 between our personal and my husbands work.  Well of course time gets away from you really fast and here I am 11 days into December and I have not finished making my cards.  I have done over half but I still have about 40 more to go.  Well I had seen some really wonderful cards designed with Picture My Life cards.  The few I have done really took no time and turned out super cute.  So I decided this may be my solution and to top it off the Pear and Partridge PML cards feature this weeks color dare colors!!!  I finally found a few free minutes today (I had to put on a movie for my son) I went down to my craft room and literally whipped this together.  I can not believe how quickly it came together and I love the way it turned out.
