March Scrapbook Workshop

I have completed the layout for March’s scrapbook workshop.  I will be changing things up a bit this month.  I typically have my monthly scrapbook workshops on the second Wednesday of every month. but since my husband will be traveling on that date I will need to change it this month.  As many of you may know juggling a two year old and getting him to bed while hosting a workshop just will not bode well for me.  Now maybe it may give my guest a good laugh watching me run around like crazy but I sort of want to enjoy their company 🙂 So I will be holding the scrapbook workshop on the same night as my card workshop, basically how I use to hold my classes. So mark your calendars for March 18th at 6:30 pm.

Here is the fun layout I created using the Ariana Paper pack:

Ariana Layout

This layout can be used for anything that make you happy.  I chose photos from our first visit to Riverside Park.  It was a beautiful day and made a great backdrop for some photos of my husband and I with our son.

If you are interested in coming to the workshop or would like to purchase this layout as a kit the cost is $10.  If you are planning on coming to the the workshop I will need to know by March 7th.

Base & Bling

Have you had an opportunity to see the new additions to the Base and Bling series?  I have to admit I was not completely won over when it first was launched in the last idea book. But with the addition of the pendents, chains, and charms; I am now a fan!  What I love is you can create your own designs in a matter of minutes.  It is really that easy.

Here is first necklace I designed.

Dragonfly necklace

To create this fun necklace I used a one inch square punch to the base paper which was from the Balloon Ride paper pack.  I then used the dragonfly form the Spring/Summer Petite perks stamp set. Applied a little liquid glass and placed the glass cover on top, how easy is that?????

Supplies used:

  • Balloon Ride Paper Pack X7180B
  • Faux Antiqued Silver Chain Z1940
  • Faux Antiqued Silver Square Pendants Z1962
  • Square Glass Cover Z1967
  • Dreamer Charms Z1955
  • Rhinestone Charms Z1978

I will be posting a couple other designs I did in the next few weeks so stay tuned!

ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “D”. This may be the name

of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has

chosen as their “D” element will be featured in their post.

If you came from  MICHELLE BATTITORI ~ Michelle’s Handmade World then you’re on the right track!

For my letter “D” I decided to use the new dots embossing folder, discover and Dreamin’ paper pack (retired).  I am sure you may think there are so many embossing folders out there, what makes these Close to My Heart’s new embossing folders so special?  Well there are several reasons.

  1. The dots are larger than the ones I have seen which I love
  2. The folders themselves are 5 x 7 so it will fit all of your cardmaking neeeds
  3. And lastly you can emboss a full 4 1/4 inch by 12 inch paper!!!!! I can finally use larger embossed items in my scrapbook pages!!! This is because at the top of Close to My Heart’s embossing folders there is a slit which will allow you to reposition and keep embossing!
  4. You could get yours for FREE this month with the purchase of any two cardstock packs (Daisy, Colonial and Kraft are excluded) check here for more details

Blowing Bubbles Isn’t Just for Kids

Are you one of those people who thinks blowing bubble is just for kids? I know I love bubbles and have enjoyed introducing them to my son.  Well did you know you can use them in your scrapbooking projects? A friend of mine sent me a photo on Instagram of this technique.  The timing could not have been better as I was planning a few scrapbook layouts at the time.  I was actually stumped on what I wanted to do for a layout of my son in the bath tub sporting a fauxhawk.  Now I had the perfect solution.

So I started playing around with the store bought bubble solutions we had and added a few drops of re-inker; then went to blowing bubble onto my white cardstock.  The problem was the bubble would not actually form or stay formed to land on the paper so it ended up looking like a big splatter of color with lots of little dots. So I decided to make my own bubble solution which worked fabulously.

Bubbles Recipe:

  • 1/4 cup of baby shampoo
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons of light corn syrup

I then added a small amount of bubbles to a shallow bowl and added a few drops of re-inker.  For this project I used Pacifica, Honey and Topiary.

I have been using Studio J to print my photos so I select my photos I want to use then use Studio J to print the photos to the appropriate size once I design the layout.  So I will design a bunch of layouts then print all the photos.  So This layout is all ready all I have to do is drop the photos in when they arrive.  Stay tuned as I will be posting more about how to do this.

I used the stitch guide to create the circles and some floss I have to add the hand stitching.
