Here is my card…

Skylark Card - Swap

I used Colonial White and Kraft cardstock.  The bird is stamped using Desert Sand ink on Colonial white which I randomed stamped with the small bird and the flourish in second generation Bamboo ink.  This gives you the a subtle pattern to you paper.  I added a small band with the Skylark textiles Z1970 and used Sparkles Brown and Tan Z1753.

Skylark Textiles

Don’t you just love these textiles?  In a couple days I will show you another project which features them.  Be sure you check back tomorrow….

Grocery List

Seeing all the cool chalkboard ideas out there, like painting a wall in your house so the kids can draw, to using it on wine glasses to write your name on it and the list goes on.   I have been wanting to do something using a chalkboard paint and I finally decided I would make my grocery list board a chalk board.  So I went to my local craft store and found a wooden plaque (got to use my 40% off coupon) which I spray painted with chalkboard paint.  I then used my Silhouette to cut vinyl for the title.  I was searching for a chalkboard type font and decided on Vintage One as it would not bee too detailed for vinyl but give the look of chalkboard art.

Here is my finished product…

This is something which was really easy to do and I am so excited the way it turned out.

Remember to be checking my blog over the next 10 days as I will be showcasing artwork using the new products in the Spring/Summer Idea Book.

Proplayer Box Card

Have you seen the cool pop-up box cards yet?  I found the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers and knew I needed to crate one of these.  With my husband’s birthday approaching next week I needed a unique card and this would be perfect.   So I needed to come up with a unique design…. my husband is a musician and has started playing drums and the guitar again.  So I used that idea as my base.

Here is the final result:

Proplayer Pop up card

The base of the card is Whisper cardstock.  I used Proplayer to decorate the sides of the box and for one of the layers on each of the guitars. I also used Slate, Black, Desert Sand and Pacifica cardstock.    The instruments are from the Musical Instrument Cricut cartridge.  I used the Chantilly Card workshop stamp set (retired) for the Happy Birthday.  The Dude you rock is a Technique Tuesday stamp set.   The embellishments used are Opaque Licorice Adhesive gems and Slate Striped Twist Ties.

Here is a close up of the front flap:

I am excited to give this card to him as I think he will really enjoy it.   Stay tuned as I will be showcasing another box card in my count down to the new catalog which will feature new product…..

Thank You’s Go to the Dogs

I love to do custom cards for people and organizations.  I was asked to design some special thank you cards for a Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League.  I was excited and jumped right in and was able to design them very quickly. Here are my designs.

Wamal Thank you cards_Running mal

I only chose to do grey/white and black/white malamutes as it worked better with the greys I used for the background.  I designed the malamute cut out with my Silhouette.  To give the cardstock texture and design, I chose to use two embossing folders.

Wamal Thank you cards_Paw Print

I was able to use Victory paper with Chocolate and Desert Sand cardstock.

I hope the donors will be pleased with their custom cards.

Stampers with Attitude ~ Washi Tape

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!

The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show artwork with Close to My Heart Washi tape plus our stamp sets, so here we go.  If you have just come from  DENISE ELLIOTT ~, then you are in the right spot!

Washi tape can be used for so many things.  It can be used as accent or to cover just about anything.   I was trying to find a way to use washi tape in my project which was different from what I have done before, so I of course turned to Pinterest for ideas.   How about using washi tape to make flowers? This would be perfect!!!

So how do you make a flower using washi tape?  Start by taking a 2 inch circle and then hand cut it so it is coiled.  Don’t worry if the it is irregular as this will make you flower have more definition.  Then using your washi tape wrap alternating pieces until all the surfaces are covered.   For this project I used the Ruby Chevron Washi Z1933, Slate Polka-Dot Washi Z1817, and Silver Geometric Washi Tapes Z1932.

Washi Tape Flowers_1

You will then start with the smallest end and roll it to form a flower.   Using a strong adhesive like Liquid Glass to secure the flower to the center of what was the circle.  This is what the flowers will look like.

Washi Tape Flowers

Then these flowers can be used for any number of projects.  I decided to design some cards.

Washi Flowers ~ Happy Birthday

For this card I used the Babycakes and Proplayer paper packs.  The Happy Birthday is from the Holiday Tags stamp set D1560.

With the wonderful Cloud Nine promotion going on right now I was inspired to create this card.

Washi Flower ~ Cloud Nine

For this card I used the Love This B1432 and the Cloud Nine stamp sets.   For the washi flower I used the Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Z1850, Gold Polka-Dot Washi Z1920 and Honey Triangle Washi Tapes Z1931.

The next blogger on the hop is JEN PATRICK~ be sure to check out her wonderful creation.

Kids Say the Darndest Things…

I am participating in a blog hop this Sunday evening that will be highlighting washi tape so I have been a washi mad woman.  I have designed several projects using washi tape which I will feature here on my blog over the next few days.  By now every one has heard of washi tape and perhaps you have a few (dozen) rolls.  If you are like me you have fallen in love with all the cool colors and patterns so you just had to have it … am I right?  Now that you have them what exactly do you do with them?  Well the wonderful thing is there are many uses and can be incorporated into all you scrapbooking, card making and crafts.  I will show you a few thing over the next couple of days.

Today I will show you a layout that I designed using the Ruby Chevron Washi tape and the Slate Polka-Dot Washi tape from Close to My Heart.

Kids say the ... Layout

For this layout I used the Proplayer Paper pack along with Ruby, Whisper and Daisy White Cardstock.  I have been having a lot of fun with my Cricut and used the Artbooking cartridge to cut the overlay, note paper, photo frame and number.  I did use my Silhouette to cut the title.

Be sure to check back as there will be more designs using washi tape soon.
