Dream Pop Thank You Cards

For all of you who purchased the Dream Pop paper pack when it was available a few months ago here are a few cards I designed using this paper.  I realized I had used up almost all of my thank you cards so with Christmas here I knew I would need some more.  So when I was looking for inspiration the Dream Pop paper is what called to me.

Dream Pop Thank you card_2

For this card I used a pinwheel die to make the pinwheel.  I used the Juniper Sparkle & Shine Washi tape for the bottom.  The Thank you is from the Banner Wishes B1438 stamp set.  I also incorporated a few of the Aqua dots for some interest.

For this card I used my 2″ circle punch to make circles and then positioned those circles back through the punch to make two pedals.  Each circle will make two pedals. I then used the top strip from some of the Dream Pop papers and one of the patterns to make the strip at the bottom of the card. The thank you and circle stamp is from a retired stamp set Tag the Occasion.  Here it are some of the variations I created:

First Flight

I guess I have been on a bit of an airplane theme as I have another one for you.  I am not sure if I mentioned it here but I got a Cricut Expression 2 for my birthday.  So I have been playing with it and learning as I go.  I purchased the Artbooking cartridge as I loved the fact it was perfect for scrapbooking.  When I was flipping through the images trying to decide what would be my first Artbooking project, one of the first things to catch my eye was the airplane overlay on page 38.    I realized this would be perfect to scrapbook my son’s first flight.  Using Cricut Craftroom I was able to size it so it would cover most of my 12″x12″.  Here is how it turned out.

Airplane Layout left

I backed all the airplanes and border in Outdoor Denim and the clouds in Colonial White.  I used the Charming Chevrons stamp set and inked colonial white with those to beck the chevrons on the overlay.

Airplane Layout_right

On this page I used the Charming Chevron stamp set and the arrows are from the overlay from the other page.  The longer airplanes are Cricut cuts from page 39 of the Artbooking cartridge.  The tag is also on page 39.

I really enjoyed using my Cricut and the Artbooking cartridge.  I look forward to trying some more of these overlays so stay tuned!

Congratulations Colonel

My husband asked me to design a congratulations card for his father who was retiring from teaching Junior Air Force ROTC after twenty years.  I thought the Lifting Spirits C1570 stamp set would be perfect combined with Banner Wishes B1438.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the airplane, clouds and banner.  After stamping the airplane, I used my Copic markers to color it in.  For the clouds, I used my water color brush with the Pacifica ink.  The card base is Pacifica which I used an embossing folder on.

Lifting Spirits Congrats

Congratulations Colonel Nowak!

December SOTM

Merry Christmas!! I can’t believe it is already Christmas Eve where does the time go?  We are getting ready for Santa to make his big arrival tonight.  I have been working on a couple of layouts that I have been wanting to post so I hope to be able to get a few posted in the next couple of days.   In the mean time I hope you enjoy this layout made with this months stamp of the month.

Bath time Layout_ Dec SOTM

The Stamp of the Month is only available during that month.  So this month it is Special Care and can be purchased from now until December 31 for $5 with any $50 qualifying order.  This is a great deal as this stamp set retails for $17.95!  Be sure you don’t miss out.

I used the Chantilly paper for the background with Pear, Buttercup, Indian Corn Blue and Daisy White.  The overlay was cut using my Silhouette.

Christmas Card Holder

If you are like me I have struggled on what to do with all the Christmas cards we get.  I don’t like to just toss them in a pile.  I really want to enjoy them and show them off.   I have tried to create a wreath in years past with clothes pins but they would pop off and you could not see all the cards.  So I decided to design my own.  I found the Noel at Hobby Lobby which I figured work great.  I added ribbon to use as the streamers for to run the cards along.  I then painted the clothes pins red and green.  Here is how is is taking shape with some of the cards.

Unfortunately the place I chose to hang this is in a hall and there is not a lot of room to get the photo.  I think you get the idea.

Christmas Wrapping

I decided we would assist Santa Claus in being more environmentally friendly.  Since we are establishing our family traditions with our son, we decided one of the things we would try to do is cut back on the wrapping paper used.  To do this we would provide Santa Clause with some Christmas sacks and a few Christmas sheets to help him wrap the more cumbersome gifts.  So I dusted off my sewing machine and got to sewing.  I purchased several yard of festive fabric and some ribbon to make these items. Here is the finished product.Christmas Sacks-1

No I am not really that far ahead that Santa has already arrived.   I used some of Gavin’s existing toys to demo how the new sacks and sheets would work.  I am actually very excited about this and if needed next year I will make some more.  The sacks are really very simple it is basically a yard of fabric sewn together.  The tutorial I found wanted you to use elastic and 2 1/2 inch ribbon.  When I went shopping for that I could not find the ribbon in that width.  So I improvised.  I used ribbon which was one inch and sewed it onto the back of the sack.  Then allowed for enough ribbon to tie a bow with some long tails.

Christmas Sack

Here is a close up of one of the sacks.  I am actually really excited about this idea and will probably make more next year.  Maybe we will go to having all our gifts in sacks.
