Tag, You’re It! – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

This month there are around 10 of us highlighting using Tags!  Close to My Heart has these amazing Tag Thin Cuts which will be the majority of what you may see. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I had fun making my cards! I even was experimenting and made a shaker tag!!

For this card I used the Feels Like Home paper pack and Fern Cardstock.  I used the Fancy Tags Thin Cuts and the Decorative Borders Thin Cuts. The stamp sets I used for this card are Know That I Care and Card Captions.  The inks I used were Pewter, Sugarplum, and Fern.  I just used the Fern ink with my watercolor brush. I added the Sugarplum shimmer brush to the insides of the flowers and Mink Twine.

For this card I decided to make a tag shaker.  For the top layer I used the tag and then centered the oval thin cut to cut the center.  I used that same tag to cut the white base and the Acetate top.

I don’t know about you but the first time or two when I went to use the circular foam it did not turn out totally round.  So I knew it could be molded it to fit the tag and I only needed to trim a little piece. I used the Shaker Window & Confetti Thin Cuts for the hearts.   The “Love You” is stamped in Candy Apple using the Card Captions Stamp Set.

I added some Red Shimmer Trim and White Ribbon.  I used pattern 9 as the basis of my design from the Make it from Your Heart Volume 4.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto MISS CARRIE’S CREATIONS where you will find some additional artwork highlighting TAGS!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Color Dare #281 ~ Making Waves Tic-Tac-Toe

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #281 it will be a Tic-Tac-Toe Board Challenge using the CTMH color palette from Making Waves. Please use and identify the three colors in a row of your choice; however we will allow any or all other colors from the Challenge Board to be included.  You can check out the new rules HERE

I choose to go with Lagoon, Sorbet and Pixie.  I know Valentine’s Day has past but I though this would make a great Valentine’s Day Card.

Here is another photo of the card.

I used the Pixie pattern from the Whimsy Fundamentals Paper Pack, Lagoon cardstock and Sorbet ink.  I love the Making Waves Cardmaking stamp and thin cuts.  I also use the new Making Waves Shimmer Trim and the Making Waves Sequins and Gems.  I even added a touch of my shimmer brush to the heart and added a few Bitty Sparkles.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #281 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday March 1, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Wishing you a happy Valentine’s Day!! I know many people feel this is a “Hallmark” holiday.  You either love it, deal with it, or skip it.  Personally I am in the middle.  My husband is lucky as I don’t expect or want flowers or gifts.  I do enjoy making cards as it is an excuse to craft!!!  Here are my cards for my husband and son.

This one I designed for my husband.  I used a cut file from my Silhouette.

For my son’s card I saw this adorable card on Pinterest and knew I needed to replicate. Now I did not have the same stamp set but I was able to improvise!

I started with a 2″ by 2 3/4″ white card base.  I stamped and watercolored then matted on a 2 1/4″ by 3″ color cardstock.  Then on the back side I added another white card base with to/from and happy Valentine’s Day.

A belated Valentine or Anytime Love Card

I am obsessed with foxes!  I saw this set by Technique Tuesday and knew I must have.  I finally got a chance to play with it and made a sweet card for my son for Valentine’s day but it could really be an anytime love card. I saw a super cute spinner card created by Stephanie Davis.   I was totally inspired to create a card with Frederick Fox.

Here is the inside of the card. I use a be my valentine sentiment but it could have been anything.

The true challenge was stamping the reverse of Fredrick.  To to this I stamped him on my all purpose mat then gently pressed the cut out on to the masked stamped image.  I then took a black pen and inked the lines.  I was pleased the way it turned out, although it took me many tries.

La Vie En Rose ~ Beloved Bouquet ~ Hearts ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the inside of the card ~

La Vie En Rose ~ Beloved Bouquet ~ Hearts ~ Valentine's ~ CatScrapbooking.comSo to make the card base I used the three different hearts then welded them to a rectangle so I created the heart edge.  Before I welded everything I made a copy of the grouped hearts so I could cut the individual hearts to add to the base.  I really love the way this turned out.

Valentines using EOS

Have you discovered the cute egg shaped lip balms called EOS?  I have been seeing them everywhere and there are a lot of knock offs too.   I purchased one for my son as I thought it would be easy for him to use and flavored.  It was a hit so I was then hooked.  Then I saw where people were designing cute gifts using these little eggs.  There are a bunch on Pinterest for Christmas gifts and I have been seeing some for Valentines.  So I decided this would be the perfect valentines gift for my son’s teachers.

Fox EOS Valentine ~ Catscrapbooking.comI just love foxes, so I knew this design would be prefect. This with a Silhouette image which I modified.  I added an oval to the heart to accommodate the EOS.  Since I was giving this as a gift to someone I did not want to open the package like most people do, so instead of using a 1.5 inch circle, I used an oval which was 1.982 inches wide and 2.287 inches tall.  This worked out great!  I used Close to My Heart cardstock ~ White Daisy, Ruby, Goldfish and Black to make the fox and heart.  I did cut a second heart which does not have the oval for the back piece. The bow was cut from some scraps of paper I had.  Isn’t this just so adorable??? Sorry I think it is stinking cute and I hope his teachers will think it is cute too.  Stay tuned for a couple more EOS as I designed one for each of my boys and will post in a couple of days.

Countdown to Spring/Summer Idea Book ~9

Welcome back to my Countdown to the new Spring/Summer Idea Book.  Today I am featuring the snip-it of the fundamentals  paper pack Z1939. This is an awesome paper pack which features 2 sheets of 10 different papers all shown below.  The colors are wonderful in the basic color pallet, with one side having a glossy resist and the other is white.  For the layout I used the bamboo paper which features hearts.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I wanted to create a valentine layout.  Since I have a boy I wanted to not go over board with the pinks and reds so I used Bamboo as my base.  But what is valentines with out Blush, Hollyhock and Ruby?  I will be offering a limited number of this layout as a kit for $12, so be sure to let me know if you are interested.

Hugs & Kisses Layout

The heart pattern paper is a mask using an overlay I cut using my Silhouette and using the Ruby reinker mixed with water in my spray pen Z1380.  The hearts and title are also cut using my Silhouette.  I found the You are Foxy cut file on the Spring Holiday Card Cricut cartridge which they were allowing you to use through the Cricut Craft Room last week for free.

Hugs & Kisses_detail1

Here is a close up of the detail. You can see the Bamboo fundamental paper, isn’t it awesome?  I also use the Ruby Chevron ribbon Z1846 and Red Shimmer Trim Z1848.  I used the scalloped boarder punch Z1851 to give it the scallop look.

January 2013 - Valentine's day 2 - Version 2

For this card I took a piece of cream cardstock 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″.  I then scored it at 2 1/8″  from each end.  I used my 2″ scallop punch to create the window in the card.  I stamped one of the rose images so it would show through the window.  I used my Copic markers to color in the rose.  I used blush ink on a dauber to accent the scalloped edge.  Using my Silhouette I created a  2 1/4 ” circle and did an off set on the inside about 1/8″ so it would result in a ring which was cut on slate card stock.   For the bottom strip I used the new Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape (Z1817) which is one of the new items from the Spring/Summer Idea book.  I also used blush card stock 1″ by 4 1/4″ and random stamped the small rose stamp with Slate ink.  I cut the 3″ by .8″ oval using my Silhouette on colonial white card stock and stamped the “happy valentine’s day” in Slate ink.  I inked the oval edge in blush and attached it only tho the left side of the card.
