ABC’s Blog Hop ~ E

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog hop!

ABC's Blog Hop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “E”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “E” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from PAM TROSTLE Blog then you are in the right place.

For my “E” element I choose dry EMBOSSING and Seasonal EXPRESSIONS 1.   I just love the paper pack in this idea book, particularly Hopscotch.  I also found my inspiration for this card on page 17.

Husky Thank You Card ~ ABC's Hop ~ Catscrapbooking.comI was asked to design some thank  you cards for a Siberian Husky and Malamute rescue organization.  I have done this for a couple of Malamute Rescues and since we have Huskies (and have had malamutes in the past) I was honored to have the opportunity to create them.  For this card I used the following items:

  • Paper Pack ~ Hopscotch X7194B
  • Cardstock ~ Glacier, Flaxen and White Daisy
  • Embossing folder ~ Pawprint (Darice)
  • Stamp ~ Husky (brand unknown) and Banner Wishes B1438
  • ShinHan Marker ~ Turquoise Blue Z2465
  • Journaling Pen ~Marvy Uchida LePen Journaling Pen Z1979

Now hop on over to LAUREN MOORE’s Blog and check out what technique she will be featuring for the letter “E”.  If you get lost along the way you can find the full list of participants on LINDA NORMAN’S Blog.

Color Dare #120

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge #120.  For this week we are featuring Barn Red, Goldrush, Glacier, Olive, and Lagoon.  Which just so happens to be the colors of the Pathfinding paper pack!!

Color Dare #120

I really love the leaves of the Fall Harvest stamp set.  I wanted to try a new way to color them using a technique I had seen using stamp pads, the all purpose mat and a spray pen.  Here is how it works.  the first step is to rub your ink pad onto the shinny side of your CTMH All Purpose mat.  If you do not have an all purpose mat you may be able to do this with a ziplock style bag.  I used one of my spay pens with a little water to spay the inked area.

ink technique ~

I cut the leaves using my silhouette ~ I created my own cut file.  Then placing the paper or in this case the leaves face down into the ink I was able to create a marbled look.

Ink technique 2 ~

I then just wiped the mat with a baby wipe and the ink is all cleaned up.  I then flipped the mat over and using my craft heater I dried the leaves so I could stamp them in Chocolate.  I really like the way they turned out.

ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “F”. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “F” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S Blog ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY

If you came from LINDA’S Blog ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY  then you’re on the right track!

For my “F” design element I chose a fire truck.  I am part of a moms club here in Spokane, so we try to organize activities for moms and our kids.  I organized a tour for our club at one of the local fire stations.  The fire fighters were so nice and patient with all the kids.  I wanted to send them a thank you card, so I designed this fire truck card.

ABC's Fire Station Thank you

For this project I used all Close to My Heart Cardstock and my Silhouette to cut the shapes.  I used Cranberry, Honey, Black, Sky, Whisper and Slate.  I used the Embossed Metal Badge Buttons from the Proplayer assortment.  To create the little sparkle for the siren I used the Ruby Shimmer Trim.  The clouds were stamped using the clouds from a retired stamp set Now Departing B1309.

Dream Pop Thank You Cards

For all of you who purchased the Dream Pop paper pack when it was available a few months ago here are a few cards I designed using this paper.  I realized I had used up almost all of my thank you cards so with Christmas here I knew I would need some more.  So when I was looking for inspiration the Dream Pop paper is what called to me.

Dream Pop Thank you card_2

For this card I used a pinwheel die to make the pinwheel.  I used the Juniper Sparkle & Shine Washi tape for the bottom.  The Thank you is from the Banner Wishes B1438 stamp set.  I also incorporated a few of the Aqua dots for some interest.

For this card I used my 2″ circle punch to make circles and then positioned those circles back through the punch to make two pedals.  Each circle will make two pedals. I then used the top strip from some of the Dream Pop papers and one of the patterns to make the strip at the bottom of the card. The thank you and circle stamp is from a retired stamp set Tag the Occasion.  Here it are some of the variations I created:

March Card Workshop

Every month I hold a workshop where you can come complete a scrapbook layout which is usually the layout I feature on the Roxybond Scrapper Team Blog Hop. But I also have a card workshop that same night.  I really had no idea I would enjoy making cards as much as I have.  I keep finding all these cool techniques.  So my challenge to myself is to try at least one new technique for the workshop.  This way I learn something new and so do the participants.  This months new technique is Iris Fold Card.  I have been seeing them all over Pinterest, so I took the plunge.

Since Easter is just around the corner and CTMH has a very cute Easter Wishes stamp set, I could not resist.  I actually thought this stamp set would work as a slider style card.  Here is the end result:

For this next card I was also inspired by Pinterest.  I had seen these woven cards and realized it was actually a die by Simon Says Stamp.

And my last workshop card was also Pinterest inspired (HaightMark Scrapbooking) using the Later Sk8r paper and Perfect fit birthday stamp set.

Malamute Cards

I am very involved with Alaskan Malamute rescue in my state, in fact I have been on the board now for five years.  One of my fellow board members is always coming up with great fundraising ideas.  When she saw the sympathy cards I designed for our organization her wheels were turning.  She asked me to create 100 cards that she would take to the Malamute Nationals in October.  So I have been a busy bee trying to make the 100 cards and  manage a now one year old.  I completed them yesterday.  Here are a couple of the the designs.

I designed these to emulate the show ribbons. Inside the card is stamped with “wishing you congratulations”.

You can see I tried to represent some of the variety of colors the malamute coat.

This design is a waterfall card. The squares are revealed as you pull down on the tab. The squares are a bone, bowl, “its a dog’s life” and then it says “woof it’s your birthday.”

I hope the cards are popular and works out to be a good fundraiser for the Malamute rescue.
