Heart 2 Heart ~ Favorite Sketch

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This challenge is to use your favorite sketch.  This sketch could be for a card, a layout or anything.  Close to My Heart has wonderful idea books with fantastic sketches for both cards and layouts.  I chose to do a scrapbook layout and used the Make It From Your Heart Volume 3. I selected pattern 34 for my layout and used the So Much Happy paper pack.

There is a cool farm in  Longmont, CO that we discovered soon after moving to Colorado, called the Sunflower Farm.  This layout are photos from our second trip to the farm.

I used my Cricut and the Flower Market Cartridge to cut the sunflowers. I used both sides of the lemon cardstock for the sunflowers.  I also used Lagoon cardstock to mat the photos.  I also used Linen cardstock to create the tittle block.  I know it is really hard to see but I used white watercolor paint to splatter the Linen cardstock and I added a stitched look by using a white gel pen.

I used the So Much Happy complements and the So Much Happy Puffies for details along with elements from the cut-apart paper. I also could not resist using the Dandelion Wishes stamp with the photo so my son with the dandelion. I used white embossing powder on vellum for the flower then fussy cut.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until April 30th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Color Dare #328 ~ Valentine’s Day Colors

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #328 we are challenging you with something new! We are using a photo as the inspiration.  Simply design your project using the colors in this photo, how cool is that??

When I look at this photo I see, Lagoon, Ballerina, Candy Apple and Glacier.  So those were the primary colors I went with.

For this card I was inspired by a fantastic card designed my the super talented Katy Taylor and you can check out her card and how she designed it HERE. I used the same stitched squares  and stitched hearts and the same paper pack but I put my own twist on it.  This card is based off of Pattern 12 from the Make It From The Heart Volume 4. I used the Heart Happy paper pack with one, the lagoon, from the Seasonal Mix In.  I used a bit of Ballerina cardstock and stamped the Love You which is from the January SOTM – Card Captions.  I also used some Red Shimmer Trim.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #328 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Purposeful Patterns Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 14 of us highlighting our wonderful patterns from our awesome MAKE IT FROM THE HEART Books. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

If you are coming from TAMMY LUBICK’S BLOG, you are on the right track!

I chose to use Pattern 12 from the Make It From the Heart Vol 4. I decided to incorporate a technique I saw just a few days ago by Michelle Loncar and then checked out the link to learn about off the edge die cuts.  I did my own twist using Punny Pals Thin Cuts.

For my card I used the Punny Pals stamp set and the thin cuts which are available again for a limited time!!! I used Saffron as the base and then Peacock from the Enchantment Fundamental Paper Pack.  I also use Charcoal cardstock and one of the patterns form the Basic Fundamental Paper Pack.  I also used the Peacock Ribbon and Grey Gems.

Here are the steps I took to make the animal strip.

Step 1 ~ I aligned the thin cuts along the 1 1/2 ” by 5 1/2″ strip.

Step 2 ~ I made my sandwich with the “B” plate on bottom then I aligned the thin metal plate and my top “B” plate.  I made sure the top plates were where I wanted the cut image to stop.

Step 3 ~ Here is what it looked like after running through my Cuttlebug

Step 4 ~ I used my trimmer and scissors to cut between the cut animal

Here is what they looked like when I stamped them.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto SARAH DEVENDORF’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork highlighting the awesome patterns Close to My Heart Offers!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Sarita Layout

I really love all of the paper lines in the new idea book.  I only wish I had more time to work on my scrapbooks.  I guess this is a common wish of all scrapbookers.  I was looking at the Sarita paper pack and though it would be ideal for some photos I took last year from our trip to New Orleans to visit family last year.

I will walk you through the steps I generally take when I am going to scrapbook.  I start with picking and editing the photos.  I then pick the papers I want to use with the photos.  My next step is to look for a layout inspiration.  I love the Close To My Heart how to books as these are always great stepping off point.  For this particular layout I was looking at the Make it From Your Heart Volume 2.  I will look at the Quick Reference and look for a layout that will work with the number of photos I have.  In this case there were 5 photos and the layout 10 on page 24 looked perfect.  I then set out to design my layout.

Sarita Layout close up left

I used the awesome new stitch guide to mark my holes ant then went back with floss to add the stitching.   I have to be honest in saying this was time consuming and not something I will do on every layout but I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!

I used the Sarita My Stickease Assortment to add additional details.

I have to be honest I did not realize until after I had completed my layout that this was the same layout that was chosen for the Sarita Workshop on the Go.  I guess great creative minds think alike.  So here is another variation of the WOTG.
