Monster Birthday Cards

I saw a birthday card posted on the Make it from Your Heart blog that I have been wanting to duplicate.  So I went to look for it on my Pinterest boards as this is where I will save things I want to go back too.  Well when I found it I realized it was from last January  ~ has it really taken me almost a year to create this card.  Well I guess better late than never?  Here is the original card and here are my versions.

Monster Birthday ~ Boy Birthday ~ Stamping techniques Kissing & Rock-n-Roll ~ CatScrapbooking.com Monster Birthday ~ Boy Birthday card ~ Stamping Techniques Kissing & Rock-n-Roll ~ CatScrapbooking.comThe top card uses Topiary, Sapphire and Saffron fundamental papers.  The bottom card I used Fern, and Peacock.  I used two stamping techniques to create these card.  The first was the Rock-n Roll which I used for the Happy Birthday.  I inked it in Saffron and then rolled it in Sapphire for the top card and Peacock for the bottom card.   The second technique I used is the Kissing Technique.  You can see in both cards the green balloon has a circle pattern.  Well after inking the balloon in green I touched it to a clean stamp and it removed some of the ink resulting in a pattern, then I stamped it on the card.

Technique Blog Hop~ Irresistible Texture

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

Technique blog badge - Irresistable

This month there are 7 of us highlighting the Irresistible Texture which is featured on page 11 of the new Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book.  Irresistible Texture can be created by using Close to My Hearts fabulous embossing folders.  There are 4 new ones (Hearts, Vine, Diamond and Scallop) in the Seasonal Expressions 1.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from MELISSA ROBINSON’S Blog, you are on the right track!

Heartstrings ~ Love Ya Silly ~ Catscrapbooking.com

I so love embossing folders as they give texture to solid cardstock.  One of the unique features of Close to My Heart cardstock is the white core. So after you use the embossing folders you can come back with a sanding block and turn the embossed area white!! This is what I did with the hearts. I also used a white pen to accent parts of the stamped images.  I also did a little paper piecing to make the eyes of these adorable monsters pop.

Products used:

  • Cardstock ~ Cranberry 1272, Whisper X5929 and Lagoon X5762
  • Paper Pack ~ Heartstrings X7193B
  • Stamp Set ~ Love Ya Silly B1470
  • Ink ~ Daisy WhiteZ2163, LagoonZ2195 , Chrystal Blue Z2117, and Hollyhock Z2128
  • Shimmer Trim ~ Z3024
  • Puffies ~ Stuck on You Z3037
  • Embossing Folder ~ Hearts Z3018

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto TONYA WHITEHURST’S Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!
