ABC’s Blob Hop ~ O

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter O.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their O element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from LINDA NORMAN’S Blog  then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

For my “O” element I decided to focus on a layout based on my son’s OUTFIT.  I was able to pick up a few other “O”s along the way ~ OUTDOOR DENIM, OVERSPRAY and OTHER PAPER Co.  Here is the layout:

ABC's O ~ Overspary ~ airplanes ~ catscrapbooking.comI love Close to My Heart cardstock as the colors will complement almost any paper pack.  I was able to uses Colonial White, Glacier and Outdoor Denim with this layout.  The paper pack is one I have from my stash ~ Rough & Tumble by Bella Carta.

ABC's O ~ Overspray detail ~ airplane ~ catscrapbooking.comHere is a close up of the overspray.  I used Glacier re-inker mixed with a little alcohol and used our Spray pens to create the overspray effect.  It is a great way to add a little color or texture to solid cardstock.

Technique Blog Hop ~ Simple Shadows

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

11707718_10206950384536475_7406789338869338370_o

This month we are featuring a technique called ~ SIMPLE SHADOWS which can be found on page 102 of the Annual Inspirations Idea book.  This technique is really simple and can be used with cards, home decor or scrapbook pages.  Basically by making a second die-cut in another color either dark or in my example light you can make your die-cut pop. This month we have ?? consultants featuring artwork using this technique so you will definitely be inspired.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from WENDY KESSLER ’s Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

I have been making it a personal goal to complete some of my own scrapbook layouts so I don’t continue to fall further behind.  I chose to do this layout with the fun Jackson paper pack which is from the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book.

Technique Simple Shadows ~ Jackson Layout ~ catscrapbooking.comThe colors of the Jackson paper pack are great for outdoors but also for boy theme.  I designed my own title using my Cricut Explore.  I really like Design Space as you can use any font you own to make a title.  In this case I used Boys are Gross font – it was really not intentional but the name makes me chuckle since my son is covered in food 😉 . Once I pick the font I un-group the letters then move them and weld them together.  I then just cut the title twice once using Colonial White and then again using Glacier.

Here are the products I used for this layout:

  • Jackson Paper Pack X7195B
  • Barn Red, Colonial White, Glacier,  and Cocoa cardstock
  • Glacier Extra Thick Twine Z3039
  • Jackson Complements X7195C
  • Brave Enamel Shapes Z3073

I have been on a bit of a mission to complete some layouts as I have the photos printed and the layouts picked, all I have to do is pick the papers and scrapbook.  So I was flipping through the photos and stumbled on my son’s first hair cut ~ perfect!!  So this was a totally NEW experience for him.   Then when I pulled out the layout I realized it was titled NOW You See It from the Magic How to Book.  I then used a NON-Traditional element for boys which were the flowers.

ABC's N ~ Pathfinding Layout ~ catscrapbooking.comI picked Pathfinding paper pack for the colors which worked great with the photos.

ABC's N ~ Pathfinding Layour right pg ~ catscrapbooking.comSo for this layout I used my Cricut Explore and Silhouette to make cuts.  The leaves came from Artiste and Artbooking and envelope was from Artfully Sent.  The First Haircut was a SVG file from Silhouette.

Products used:

  • Paper Pack ~ Pathfinding X7186B
  • Cardstock ~ Barn Red, Glacier, Olive and Champagne
  • Embellishments ~ Glacier Extra Thick Twine Z3039, Just Blooms Floret Paper Flowers Z1764 (retired), Buttons (from my stash) and Bronze Shimmer Trim Z1848

Color Dare #149 ~ Ruby, Outdoor Denim, Colonial White & Kraft

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #149 we are featuring RUBY, OUTDOOR DENIM, COLONIAL WHITE and KRAFT.

11401444_10153070823819440_2587294451351161646_nSince these colors have a patriotic feel I thought I would design a layout for my shadow box to celebrate the 4th of July.  I have been needing to update it so this worked out perfectly.

Color Dare #149 ~ 4th of July ~ patriotic layout ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this project I used my Cricut Explore to cut all the shapes.  I used Ruby & Outdoor Denim cardstock and Fundamental paper with the Colonial White cardstock.  My base is the Kraft.  For my cuts the star is just one of the basic shapes found in Design Space.  The overlay, rocket and frame are all from Artbooking cartridge.  I used scraps of paper to back these cuts which made them more colorful.  I did have to cut away one of the stars from the photo frame as it was covering too much of the photo.  The fireworks bursts are part of my Cricut subscription #M32A4A and so is the 4th of July is also from my subscription #M43700.  I used some of the sequins I had to five it a little shimmer.  I am so happy the way this turned out and the way I designed the photo frame is next year I can change out the photo with one from this year.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #149.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday July 9, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

11010304_10206774736873265_5056244779494318833_oI love this stamp set as the font looks like chalkboard lettering so I knew immediately I planed to use White Daisy or Colonial ink on a dark cardstock such as Black.  I was flipping through the photos I had to scrapbook and saw some fun photos of my son with one of our dogs.  I had just gotten my camera for Mother’s day that year so I had it with me all the time.  I knew the “Life is Wonderful” would be a perfect title for this layout.  I decided to mix up my papers and so I used Chalk it up with Jackson and added the Cranberry Twill ribbon to the mix.  I am really happy the way this turned out, take a look for yourself.

Life is Wonderful ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comI really love the way these paper packs went together even though if you layout all the papers you would never think to use them together.  I used the cranberry to add a little pop of bright color and to match the red in the photos. Here is a close up of the tittle and individual pages.

Life is Wonderful detail ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comI used Colonial White ink on the Black cardstock ~ I love the way it looks like a chalkboard!! I stamped the arrows the same way.

Life is Wonderful right ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comThe scalloped border was crated using a border punch I have in my collection.

Life is Wonderful left ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comHer is the entire list of items used for this layout.

February Stamp of the Month

I really like this months Stamp of the Month.  It is a very versatile stamp set. Take a look for yourself:

2015+-+February+SOTM+Image+-+Edited

I designed a card using this stamp set which I really liked and you can find HERE.  I knew the shapes could be really cool on a layout in a geometric way.  One of the wonderful things about this stamp set was there are multiple ways to layer these stamps to create great designs.  I had a crafting inspiration after seeing a wonderful card designed by Wendy Coffman.  This inspired me to create this layout.

A Happy Hello Layout ~ catscrapbooking

For this layout I was looking for particular colors so I pulled two retired paper packs ~ Pemberly and Flirty for my pattern paper;   asI was focusing on the orange and blues.

Here is a list of supplies I used to complete this project:

  • Paper Pack ~ Pemberly (retired) and Flirty (retired)
  • Cardstock ~ Colonial White, Goldfish and Outdoor Denim
  • Inks ~ Goldrush, Indian Corn Blue, Outdoor Denim and Topiary
  • Embellishments ~ Green and Blue Epoxy Bubbles

I hope you find this layout as an inspiration for you pages.
