I am not really sure how I stumbled on this technique but I did. I was so impressed that knew I wanted to give it a try. Here is the link to Jennifer McGuire’s blog and the technique. She uses distressed ink but I though I would give it a try with Close to My Heart inks.
When I first started playing around with the technique I tried our White Daisy cardstock and it did not lift the color out as well. So I then tried it with our Watercolor paper and BINGO it worked. So here is how it works.I used Crystal Blue for my background.
Once you have the ink applied you use water to lift out the ink. I just dabbed a water soaked brush to the inside of the flowers. And as you can see the blue lifts out and becomes a faded blue. Then I took my ink pad and stamped my all purpose mat. I then added water to the ink and painted the new colors in. I used Pixie, Thistle, Honey, Fern and Sweat leaf inks to add color.
Here is the finished product. I am really happy how this turned out and look forward to trying it some more. I actually tried using craft foam to instead of foam tape to pop up the white scalloped boarders.
